Support Case Month: July 2012

Dear support

I use joomla 2.5. and are excited over the possibilities of the AllWebMenus. This is my second webpage and i am a absolute beginner in the field. I use a lot of time to fool around - but i am determined to be better at the job.

I do have one problem, that seem difficult for me to solve and I hope that you will be able to help me with that.

I am a registered user. I have downloaded the latest AllWebMenus PRO var 5.3. and also the newest software AllWebMenus joomla menu component ver 1.1.15. I have generated the menu structure code from the webpage to use in the desktop program. I have compiled the structure - and uploaded everything to my webpage - but now I got two menus - the old joomla menu structure behind the new. I do not want two menus on top of each other.

I have tried a lot of things for a long time now and I am sure that there is a small thing, that I have done wrong. I hope you can help we with that please.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

Hello,

The two menus are not really related. If you want to remove the original Joomla menu, you have to do this from within the Joomla admin. This will not affect the AllWebMenus menu.

Dear Keld,

I just visited your site, but I did not see any menu there at all. There is no Likno code in the URL you sent.

Did you remove the menu in the meantime?

Dear Kostas

The menu should be appearing when you push the second menu item in the horizontal menu line - saying: "Vi tilbyder".

It should be to the left as usual vertical menus is - and you should be able to se it in Chrome and Firefox - but not in Explorer.

In fact I think the menu-program is rather fantastic and i am happy about it. So I would like it to work in IE also.

Would you take another look at my page and maybe give me some advice, please - as I am keen to learn - and there is so much to learn.

Keld 🙂

Dear Keld,

I checked the new URL and indeed there is a menu there that shows in most browsers but not IE.

The problem is with the Positioning element. Specifically you are not supposed to have a plain number as an element ID. This is considered "bad HTML" and although most browsers can cope with it, IE will just through an error and stop running any scripts on the page.

The ID can contain letters and numbers but must always start with a letter.

Dear Kostas

Thank you for the support.

I understand the problem and have been searching intenstly trying to find out what to do next. As I am looking at the joomla side - all it says is the side ID number (which is 480). There are nothing else to see. I have also been reading the help manual - and i just dont get it. Im on the edge of giving up. Do you have any ideas about what I should do now, then kindly please let me know. I will be very thankfull.

Dear Keld,

So you are not able to change this ID? Was this automatically generated by Joomla?

Then just try using the parent DIV, with class "module_content":

menu relative to an element

Hello,

According to the error message, it seems that your WordPress does not have the access rights required to create new tables into the database!

This means that you blocked this access *after* the WordPress installation. Does this make sense?

Would you be able to create the table manually through your SQL admin? If so, then you could use the following query:

CREATE TABLE wp_awm (
                                                                id mediumint(9) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
                                                                name tinytext NOT NULL,
active BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
custom_menu BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                custom_menu_id mediumint(9) NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                position tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                type tinytext NOT NULL,
include_home BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
pages BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
pages_ms tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
pages_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                excluded_pages tinytext,
posts BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
posts_ms tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
posts_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                posts_ids tinytext,
categories BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
categories_ms tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
categories_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
categories_subitems BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
categories_subitems_no tinyint NOT NULL DEFAULT  5,
                                                                excluded_cats tinytext,
hide_future BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
hide_protected BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
hide_private BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
related BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
related_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
                                                                UNIQUE KEY id (id)
                                                );

Note here that the table name “wp_awm” is assuming that all your WordPress tables have the “wp_” prefix. If they have another prefix you have to use the same for this new table.

Hello again,

Did you check if you can give the proper permissions to the WordPress installation? This would be the proper solution.

If you want to continue with the manual way, please try with this:

CREATE TABLE wp_awm (
                                                                id mediumint(9) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
                                                                name tinytext NOT NULL,
active BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
custom_menu BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                custom_menu_id mediumint(9) NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                position tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                type tinytext NOT NULL,
include_home BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
pages BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                pages_ms tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                pages_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                excluded_pages tinytext,
posts BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                posts_ms tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                posts_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                posts_ids tinytext,
categories BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                categories_ms tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                categories_name tinytext NOT NULL,
categories_subitems BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
categories_subitems_no tinyint NOT NULL DEFAULT  5,
                                                                excluded_cats tinytext,
hide_future BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
hide_protected BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
hide_private BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
related BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
                                                                related_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                UNIQUE KEY id (id)
                                                );

Again, note here that the table name “wp_awm” is assuming that all your WordPress tables have the “wp_” prefix. If they have another prefix you have to use the same for this new table.

Knowledge Base support case for Likno ELearning LMS, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email From:
Ron
Initial Email Subject: Hosted Enterprise Test Account for 2 Weeks
Support Case Month: July 2012

Good Morning,

I have some questions.

1) What is difference between a course and lessons? Can I assume lessons are incorporated within courses? Does the admin or professor create the course and does the professor create the lessons? Can a lesson stand alone?

2) What is the difference between courses, lessons, and modules?

3) In course/lesson loading what does the admin do and what does the professor do.

4) You say: Other files can be uploaded in a lesson through the Files function. Please note that text from a word file can be copied/pasted in eFront through the unit's editor.
Otherwise, word or ppt files can be uploaded in the lesson's file manager and added as links inside the unit's content, or they can be shared with the students directly.

I?m having issues with this. Is there someone I can speak to. I don?t see the share button and also can I place the files within a category?

Best Regards,

Ron

Hello Ron,

Here are the answers to the questions of yours:

1) What is difference between a course and lessons? Can I assume lessons are incorporated within courses? Does the admin or professor create the course and does the professor create the lessons? Can a lesson stand alone?

A course is consisted of many lessons. A lesson can either be available directly (standalone) or exclusively through a course.
Both administrators and professors can add new lessons and courses, but only the professors can upload content in the lessons.
http://docs.efrontlearning.net/Lessons
http://docs.efrontlearning.net/Courses

2)  What is the difference between courses, lessons, and modules?

Same as above. To which modules do you refer? Modules can be installed in eFront to extend the core functionality.

3) In course/lesson loading what does the admin do and what does the professor do.

The admin can create the course/lesson titles, the professor is responsible for adding content.

4) You say: Other files can be uploaded in a lesson through the Files function. Please note that text from a word file can be copied/pasted in eFront through the unit's editor.
Otherwise, word or ppt files can be uploaded in the lesson's file manager and added as links inside the unit's content, or they can be shared with the students directly.
http://docs.efrontlearning.net/Files

I?m having issues with this. Is there someone I can speak to. I don?t see the share button and also can I place the files within a category?

Files may belong to a lesson only, they can not be associated with a category. You can see in the screenshot below the share button:

Thank you.

Knowledge Base support case for AllWebMenus, Likno Web Scroller Builder, Likno Web Tabs Builder, Likno Web Accordion Builder, Liknow Web Modal Windows Builder, Likno Web Button Maker, Likno Web Tooltips Builder.

The following issue is related to users that login to their PC with another user account than the one they used to login when working with Likno products. This is also the case when users upgrade their Windows to a newer version of Windows (for example, upgrading to Windows 8) and their user account name is not the same as it used to be.

Those affected users are trying to save, compile or export a project and it seems that the file does not get generated where it should be.

This happens when the application does not have access rights for the given folder where the output file should be written. In most cases this is because the user tries to write to a folder of a different user.

If you recently upgraded to Windows 7 or Windows 8, then it is very likely that you created a new user, but all the paths in our projects are still pointing to the old user.

For example, your old user name was “john” and your “Documents” folder was under:

C:\Users\john\Documents

So all the projects point to that folder. Now that you upgraded, the new user is “JohnD” and the “Documents” folder points to:

C:\Users\JohnD\Documents

This can cause two types of confusion:

1) You are logged into your PC as “JohnD” and you are trying to write into “john" documents, so you get an error that you are not able to write there or no file is written.

2) If you have full admin rights, you may be able to indeed write a file there, but you are still looking for it into your new “Documents” folder, so it still seems that it does not work.

In either case, you should double-check the paths where you are trying to write the new file.
