Knowledge Base support case for AllWebMenus,  abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

We are seeing issues with all our menus on the new IE 10.

We have searched knowledge base and all we can find on the problem is to use a minimum width. Which this did correct the issue where the menu was not even showing.

But what we are seeing now is that in compatibility mode the menu is fine then in standard mode the links stack.

other browsers work fine

Thanks for any suggestions

Hello,

I noticed that while you are using the latest AllWebMenus version, you neglected to update the online library files:

old AllWebMenus library

Please upload the newly compiled “awmdata” folder to fix the problem.

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Scroller Builder,  abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email From:

l Email Subject: WebScroller 2.0.130
Support Case Month: April 2013

Hello

I recently installed LiknoWebScroller 2.0.130 to take full advantage of the WYSWYG CSS editor just to discover that I am having issues that I never had before in the 1.0.124 version of this app.

If you go to {URL REMOVED} the scroller on this page is made with version 1.0.124 build and has no issues. To test it, on this page I have a menu created with Likno AllWebMenus menu (5.3 Build #908). On the main menu, under the "The Club", select "Website Administration" option and you will presented with a modal window asking for your username/password combination.

Now, after installing version 2.0.130 and recompiling the same scroller (under a different project directory), if you go to {URL REMOVED}, and try accessing the same Website Administration page, you are not getting ANYTHING, unless you go first to different pages, come back to this {URL REMOVED} and it may eventually work this time around.

With the new 2.0.130 the same behavior applies to the top right side menu (Member Login, Contact Us, Search PVTC.CA) that calls three different Modal Windows (all 3 work with the older version, but do not work with 2.0.130)

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thank you
Adrian

Dear Adrian,

Actually this is a problem of the Modal Window. The problem is the new Scroller comes with the latest jQuery engine (1.9.1) but the Modal Windows version you have (254.3) did not support this version. As a matter of fact there was a minor version released about 10 days later (254.4) which does support jQuery 1.9.1.

Please try downloading the latest Modal Windows software from our site and let me know if this corrected the problem.

Hi Kostas

Thank you for looking into this issue.

After downloading the latest Modal version, everything seems to be back to normal. Tested on 5 different browsers and all is perfect.

Thank you again

Hi
On this page {URL REMOVED} I have a yellow, horizontal menu at the top. It used to match the width of the red jpg. banner above it, but now the menu appears too wide. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Rich

Dear Rich,

I checked your menu and it is indeed very wide in all browsers.

This happens because you have set the menu items to be uniform so they all take the width of the largest one (“Reader’s Forum”):

The menus (dutch, english or german) show only in IE10 with compatibility mode switched  on !! Not without.

Any solution??

Hello,

It appears that the menu on your website was compiled with an *old* version of AllWebMenus (see “release history” here: http://www.likno.com/whatsnew.html ).

AllWebMenus version

You need to update/upgrade your AllWebMenus and re-compile/re-upload your menu files, as the *old* compiled menu cannot support the latest browsers and standards. Some browser versions did not even exist by that time.

How?

- Login to your Likno User Area at http://www.likno.com/userarea

- Click the "View/Manage Licenses and Plans":

view or manage menu licence

- See there if your Update Plan has expired or not.

If "expired" then click the "Renew" link and renew your Update Plan.

- Download the current Version (Build) ( http://www.likno.com/download.html ) and install it.

- In your Likno User Area, click the "Get Activation Code" link and get a new Activation Code for this updated installation:

get activation code

- Open your old project file (.awm) in AllWebMenus, re-compile it and then upload the new menu files (along with the "awmdata" folder) to your website.

Note that you may need to delete your browser’s Temporary Internet Files (or cache files) before refreshing the page in order to see the menu.

Also, you are using a lot of "browser-specific offsets" in your project, which are not really needed.

browser-specific offsets

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer.

I did what you suggested, I updated/upgraded the AllWebMenus and re-compiled/re-uploaded the menu files.

It is now Version 908.

Still the same problem in IE10

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello, did you clear your cache? (hit CTRL-F5)

Because I do see the menu in IE10 now.
