Hi,

I want to know if this is possible with your menu program.

I built a sliding menu. I placed it in a DIV. Then I linked the menu to many different anchors. When you click an item in the menu it goes to that item BUT the menu floats to the bottom of the page? I want the menu to stick at the selected anchor, so the menu is lined up, side by side with that item. Is this possible? and if yes, how do you set that up?

Also, the floating menu goes behind my main nav, and it also was made with your program. I read about the z_index but it says to leave it a 1000? How can I make it go over the nav?

Please let me know.

Thanks!
Robert

Dear Robert,

I am afraid there is no way to have the menu always appearing next to the anchor of what you clicked. Still, there is something you can do to make it look better in some cases.

Currently the menu always stays in the exact same place where you positioned it, relative to the browser window.

If you set the menu to be “Advanced Floating” then you can have it stick with the page until it reaches the top of the window and then float there until you reach the end of the page. Since when you call an anchor the page is automatically scrolled to put it at the top of the page, this will work in most cases. It will not work for the last part of the page that never reaches the top of the window. So this will give you a partial solution to the problem. Also note however that this requires that you purchase the Advanced Floating Add-in, so it is up to you to decide if it is worth the cost.

Regarding the z_index, where did you see that you “have to leave it at 1000”? You can change it as you wish! And if you want the floating menu to be on top, simply make its z_index bigger than the z_index of the other menu.

Kostas

I am looking to make a wordpress site that resembles  http://diablo3blog.blogspot.com/ I want my blog and pages to have the ability to have multiple top menus like the above link as well as a side bar link menu using http://wpmegamenu.com/help/  or your floating menu .
Is this something your program would be able to do without using any drop down menus of any sort?  Is your plugin compatible with most wordpress themes or do I need a theme made by you?

Hello,

You can easily achieve the specific “multiple menu” effect in two ways:

1) You can actually have multiple menus linked into WordPress, or even better

2) You can create a single menu with multiple rows:

multi row horizontal menu

Regarding the left menu, this is a pretty simple vertical menu, so no problems here either. The only thing that we do not support is this specific mouse-over effect in the menu items.

Overall, AllWebMenus will allow you to create and add as many menus as you want in your WordPress site. Each menu can have any menu type you want (horizontal, vertical, sliding), with multiple rows/columns (or not), with or without submenus (sliding or floating), etc.

Of course our menus will work with all WordPress themes, and in all the latest browsers and mobile devices.

I think I have all of the Themes and Templates but I was unable to find any examples of the float that slides out the menu like the one on this page:

http://www.likno.com/examples.html?example=floating3

I am talking about the little bar that floats down the side.  Are there any Themes or Templates like that?  If yes, could you tell me what they are?

Thanks

Hello,

Just download exactly that project from this button:

download floating menu project

It uses this property:

menu floats on scroll

Thank you for this info.  What I am wondering though is if there are any other themes like the one on the sample page, similar to the one below that I have downloaded?

Also, can you tell me what Help page the information on the very bottom of your response is?  I have not been able to locate it.

Thanks

Hello,

I am afraid that we do not have more examples with menus that “float” like this one. However it is easy to make any menu “floating” by changing the related property according to the following screenshot:

menu constant floating

Note that this is just a screenshot of the application. It is not inside any help file.

I got a menu floating, no problem.  But my issue comes in when I do responsive - then part of the menu ends up off the page in some cases.  That's why I think it would be good to have examples or themes of the floats like in the example.

Hello again,

If the menu ends up off the page, then I guess that it is a matter of Positioning. Note that in responsive menus each “version” can have a different Positioning.

If you send me a URL I may be able to suggest a solution.

Initial Email Subject: Convert from 4 to 5.3- wide screen menu not working
Support Case Month: February 2013

Hello,

I have a 2007 version of AllWebMenus I bought. I now need to convert to 5.3 because the floating menu do not line up on a wide screen browser.

On our site if you click on Our Clery on our site the menu is to the FAR Left side.  This has happen as screens have gotten wider and browsers have changed.

I have bought a slide down menu hoping that would fix it but is has not.

I had hope to JUST CONVERT the old to the new without losing styles.

Can I do this? What do you suggest?

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

There should not be a problem with that. Normally you should be able to directly open your project in the v5, compile and upload it, and it should work right out of the box.

In any case, if you run into any problems just let me know and we fix it.

Dear Kostas,

I have a few questions about AllWebMenus.

1. I have made a menu which will be shown on the left of the page (floating) and which will be on support of the main menu.

1.1. Is it possible to regulate the speed of the floating menu?

1.2. I tried to make the right corners rounded but I am unable to do that… how do I do that??

1.3. is it possible to make the menu sticky? I mean not floating but always showing at the same position even if the page scrolls…

1.4. I have problems by using javascripts like for page reload, go back one page and print this page… As if I place them in the Link cell they are not working I placed them in the Javascript Command cell, they are working but they run when the mouse just goes hover, so even if you don’t click on them

Hope to get your answers as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Paolo

Dear Paolo,

1.1) You have two options regarding the float speed of the menu. Either “instant” or “smooth”. With the first option, the menu will be fixed to the window side. With the second option the menu will follow with a small delay after scrolling. There is not extra setting for determining the “follow speed”.

1.2) You simply need to set the group to have rounded corners. If your items also have a background color, then make sure that these (first-last) have rounded corners too. If you need more help on this, please export and send me the menu project file.

1.3) This is the “instant” choice I talked about in (1.1):

menu floats on scroll, instant choice

1.4) You need to place them in the JavaScript command, but under the “click” column:

javascript under mouse click
