Hello...love the program, but am having a major issue.  I have attempted to install allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin a couple of dozen times, both through the wp-admin and manually via ftp.  Either way I do it, I get the following ERROR messages:

Warning: chmod() [function.chmod]: Operation not permitted in public_html/wp-content/plugins/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin/include.php on line 16
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at public_html/wp-content/plugins/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin/include.php:16) in public_html/wp-content/plugins/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu.php on line 128
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at public_html/wp-content/plugins/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin/include.php:16) in public_html/wp-content/plugins/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu.php on line 128
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at public_html/wp-content/plugins/allwebmenus-wordpress-menu-plugin/include.php:16) in public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 876

Clearly, I am unable to activate this plugin.  I even reinstalled the latest wordpress--each time, wordpress indicated that the installation was successful.  Also, prior to installing the "allwebmenus" plugin, all my other many plugins installed without an error and functioned flawlessly.  Also, the same problem occurs if I activate a different theme to see if it was a problem with the theme itself.  While I realize that you are not WP support, I was hoping that you might have run across this problem before, or would at least be able to tell from the errors what the snag might be. Needless to say, I want to use AllWebMenus in my wordpress websites.  Thanks for any help you can give me on this....

Tracy

Hello,

It seems from the error messages that the plugin does not have enough permissions to work. Specifically in order for the plugin to work, it must be able to edit the “header.php” of your template and add the Linking Code.

You can try manually giving your “header.php” permissions “755” to see if this fixes the problem, or you can try giving all the plugin files (and especially the “include.php” file) full permissions.

Kostas

Hi Guys

I have been a Likno All Web Menus customer for many years now and have always been impressed both by the product but more importantly by the support offered.

To date I have been using the MS Frontpage program as my editor.

I have recently migrated to using Apple Macs for my computing needs.

I am currently evaluating the Mac program Freeway Pro as a potential replacement for the MS Frontpage.

However as my All Web Menu structure is central to my site it is imperative that any new editor is fully compliant with All Web Menus.

Can you advise / confirm that All Web Menus will integrate with Freeway Pro.

Your input on this issue as always will be invaluable.

Kind Regards

Paul

Dear Paul,

First of all, you should keep in mind that AllWebMenus is only available for Windows. Nonetheless, we do have several MAC customers that use third-party software for emulation, without any problems reported so far.

Here are all your options to run Windows applications on an Intel-powered Mac:

http://www.macwindows.com/winintelmac.html#2ar

Having said this, we are not familiar with the Freeway Pro application, but I do not see any reason that it would not work with AllWebMenus. The minimum requirement is that it allows you to insert custom code in your page(s) and that you can directly upload the AllWebMenus compiled files to your server.

If you were using the FrontPage plugin, then you may now need to do some things manually. These are:

1) Linking the menu to your page(s). Ideally if you are using templates you will manually add the Linking Code there once and it will propagate to all the pages.

2) Uploading of files. Once you compile your menu you will need to upload manually the compiled files to your server (using any FTP application).

Do let me know if you find any problems or if you need more specific instructions with something.

Regards,
Kostas

I have designed a new menu with your program and was able to compile the menu and link to a specific page. The menu shows on the preview but does not on the web (using Front Page) after publishing FTP.

Can you take a look at the page and tell me what is incorrect. I have not used your program for several years and have just extended my license today.

The page is www.bomarinterconnect.com/indexcopy22x.html  It is a temporary page I am using which will replace the existing index page.

Bob

Hello Bob,

old version of AllWebMenus

It appears that the menu on your website was compiled with an *old* version of AllWebMenus (see “release history” here: http://www.likno.com/whatsnew.html ).

You need to update/upgrade your AllWebMenus and re-compile/re-upload your menu files, as the *old* compiled menu cannot support the latest browsers and standards. Some browser versions did not even exist by that time (e.g. IE9 was officially released in March 2011).

- First, login to your Likno User Area (http://www.likno.com/userarea) to upgrade your AllWebMenus license.

upgrade license

- Then, download the latest version from http://www.likno.com/download.html

- In your Likno User Area, click the "Get Activation Code" link, and get a new Activation Code for your installed program:

get activation code

- Open your old project file (.awm) in AllWebMenus, re-compile it and then upload the new menu files (along with the "awmdata" folder) to your website.

Note that you may need to delete your browser’s Temporary Internet Files (or cache files) before refreshing the page in order to see the menu.

Thanks!

Thank you for the update.

I have activated the license and have downloaded All Web Menus PRO 5.3. I have republished both the awm data and the page FTP. The menu does not appear. (using Front Page) Is there a position html tag that I must add to have the menu show live?

Dear Bob,

I just checked your site again and it seems that you still have the old files online!

Please compile your menu again, and make sure that you are uploading the correct files.

Support Case Month: September 2012

Hi:

I am very interested in your AllWebMenus Pro product, but need to know if I am able to create the following menu as a Flex/Flash widget (SWF file). If so, do you have instructions how to do so in your Knowledgebase once I buy the product?

Your prompt response is much appreciated since I need to build this for a client this weekend.

Thanks,

Michael

Dear Michael,

I am afraid that AllWebMenus does not produce flash files. We only have JavaScript-based products.

Is there a specific reason why you would want this to be a flash applet? I am asking as I can only think of cons and no pros in this.

(Flash is not supported everywhere, it requires plugins to be installed into the browser, it is heavier, it is going to be dropped altogether by Apple & Google etc)

So, I use flash widgets to integrate with a BI tool called microstrategy. I am kind of stuck until they support HTML5. I am able to setup an HTML container. Basically  this is to create a selector for a dashboard versus a menu for a web page. If the example generates JavaScript or Actionscript, I can include your library to create the widget, and then use the code in the CDATA part of the Script tag. I welcome your thoughts.

Michael

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Michael,

I am afraid I am not aware of “microstrategy” at all. Still, our tools generate JavaScript and HTML, so it sounds as it will not be a problem.

The minimum requirements for AllWebMenus to work is that:

1) you are able to directly insert a HTML snippet in your page (the so-called “Linking Code”)

2) you are able to directly upload files to your server (preferably with FTP access)

Are these requirements met by your system? If so, then there should not be a problem.

Here is an example of the HTML code (“Linking Code”) you will need to insert in your page:

<!-- ******** BEGIN ALLWEBMENUS CODE FOR menu ******** -->
<script type='text/javascript'>
      var MenuLinkedBy='AllWebMenus [2]', awmBN='GN';
      awmAltUrl='';
</script>
<script src='/menu.js' language='JavaScript1.2' type='text/javascript'>
</script>
<script type='text/javascript'>awmBuildMenu();</script>

<!-- ******** END ALLWEBMENUS CODE FOR menu ******** -->

We currently have AllWebMenus Pro Ver 5.2 #808 on our website. We do not have any contact info for the old web developer and we are trying to fix the menu drop downs in IE 9. The domain is nazunitedway.org. Is there a fix for this, or do we need to upgrade to the latest version 5.3. You can take a look at the site and see it doesn’t work in ie9.

Let me know how I should proceed.

Thanks,
Brian

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello Brian,

indeed there have been many changes and support of new browser versions since then. See here:

http://www.likno.com/whatsnew.html

So you will have to get the latest version of AllWebMenus and just re-compile your menu. I hope you do have the source .awm project file of the menu, because you will need this in order to re-compile.

I have located the .awm file. Once I purchase the new version how do I upload the menu to the site via FTP?

Thanks,

Brian

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Brian,

Once you purchase the new version, you will Compile your project again. This will produce some JS files (by default a "menu.js" file and an "awmdata" folder).

You can directly upload these to your server with your favorite FTP application. (or if you are using Dreamweaver, Expression Web etc. these usually have their own uploading tools)
