Support Case Month: March 2014

Hi,

This particular site has a bottom menu on the paintings page with numbers from 1 to 24 across the bottom.  Now they want to add a <Previous>  <Next> to that same menu that is using build 884.  Can this be done and how would I add the <Previous>  <Next> to the menu so it would rotate to each new page from 1-24?  Please let me know, any help would be appreciated.

Best,
Joy

Hello Joy,

As it seems this is a slideshow and it would be perfectly created with Likno Web Scroller Builder (info: http://www.likno.com/jquery-scroller/index.php examples: http://www.likno.com/jquery-builders/examples.php?p=lwsc&e=examplepack0204)

If you choose to go with AllWebMenus then you can add "Previous" as you first menu item and "Next" as you last menu item in your structure.

Then, you can add a JavaScript Command to run when you click those 2 items. So, I guess you can have 2 JavaScript functions (1 for previous, 1 for next). In previous function you need to have a script that will take you to the previous page and in next function to take you to the next page.

JavaScript command in menu item

Please, let me know if you need further help.

Thank you.

HELP!! I cannot get the API commands to work. I've tried EVERYTHING today. EVERYTHING. I've put the

<script>

function openModal(url, w, h) {
    popup_with_id({bodySource:"<div externalUrl=\'"+url+"\'/>",containerCss:{width:w, height:h}});

}
</script>

I've put in several test links

<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="popup_with_id({bodySource:'hello'})" >Click for product3 comparison</a>

<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="popup_with_id({footer:{text:'new footer'});">Click here</a>

<a onclick="openModal('test1',300,400)" href="javascript:void(0);">Test modal2</a>

<a  href="#" onclick="popup_with_id('BITE ME','1','2')"  alt="" title="" target="Popup_Window">See Popup Window</a>

</head>

per like this KB page

http://www.likno.com/blog/lwmw-using-the-a-tag-to-open-modal-windows-and-also-the-api-for-parameters/1898/

It will not open a window with the API commands inside the modal popup_with_id. If I take out the "{" then it puts the text inside the window and works

popup_with_id("test stuff);

I just need a little nudge in the right direction before i lose any more time on this, PLEASE

Sincerely,
Patrick

Hello Patrick,

According to your project the modal window name you have is  Popup_Window, so the popup_with_id is going to be undefined.

You should have Popup_Window instead of popup_with_id

modal window name

Please, correct the above and let me know how that worked for you.

Please, let me know if I can be of further help.

Support Case Month: July 2013

I assume I am able to hide a menu item or menu group via external javascript function so I can display just the items/groups based on the web page.  Can you send me an example of how to do that?
Thank you.
Mike

Hello Mike,

First, thank you for your interest in our Likno products.

I believe that the Server-Side Menus API is what you are looking for:

Also click the "Example" link:

Thank you.
I don't have a need at the moment to build the menu dynamically.  I want to build a complete static menu but then hide parts of it depending on the page the user is on.  My hope is that there is a javascript call to hide an item or group by ID?

Hello Mike,

Another way to achieve what you want is to use the "UL/LI" population method (see below). In that case, you can hide/show any UL/LI items (menu submenus and items in other words) you wish. I believe this is the way to go:

UL LI menu structure code

Support Case Month: May 2013

Kostas,

I am back with the same technical problem I encountered in the Blog below:

http://www.likno.com/blog/highlight-menu-item/2418/

You are saying in the blog response:

The “it7” is the ID of this specific item. It is NOT just its order in the menu. If you add other items before or after it, this item will still be referenced by “it7”.

==================

In the AllWebMenus Help, I read a different explanation:

About the awmShowItem variable when the menu is populated using a "UL/LI structure".

In order to find the correct ID to use as a parameter, you should count the loading order of the ULs and LIs. So you should count how many LI tags are found in the UL/LI structure until the desired item is found.
For example this is a usual UL/LI code:
<ul id="awmULLI-menu" style="display:none;">
<li>Main Item 1</li>
<li>Main Item 2
   <ul>
     <li>Sub Item 1</li>
     <li>Sub Item 2
       <ul>
         <li>Sub Item 4</li>
         <li>Sub Item 5</li>
         <li>Sub Item 6</li>
       </ul>
     </li>
     <li>Sub Item 3</li>
   </ul>
</li>
<li>Main Item 3</li>
</ul>

According to the awmShowItem technique, if you want to make the “Sub Item 6” highlighted, you should use it7 since its LI tag is the 7th LI in the structure

==================

Testing the theory on the new project:  {URL REMOVED}

I am using the function var awmShowItem=["MainMenu,it5,1,0"];

IF I add another item in the BISHOP menu list, the highlighted menu option will move to the BISHOP group, since that option changed to it6.

The only solution to the problem is to create a javascript function where the selection of the menu item is based either on the URL or the anchor text:

awmShowItem=["MainMenu,Ministries,1,0"];

awmShowItem=["MainMenu,CatholicDiocese.php?op=ILS_Information,1,0"];

Otherwise, I will have to go page by page to update the javascript code of similar pages, every time I add a new LI item into the structure.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Claudio,

When you are using a menu project and you populate your menu in there, then each menu item gets a specific ID that will not change when you move this item around or add other items around it.

However, when you are using a UL/LI menu then the menu is dynamically created at runtime, so the menu items also get their ID at runtime and there is no way to have a specific item keep a specific id.

In this case, indeed, when you add items you may need to change the highlight code too.

However you say that you need to change this in every page. This suggests that you manually included the code in each of your pages in the first place. Our recommendation is that you use an include file (e.g. a PHP or ASP file) and keep the menu Linking Code, Structure Code and highlight code there. This way it will be automatically included in all pages, but it will be much easier to maintain as you will only need to change and upload a single file when you need to change the menu again.

Kostas

Dear Bill,

I saw all these issues and run some test locally. It seems that the problem is caused by the fact that some of your tooltips are set to “live”.

The “live” function is used to monitor any page change and call the Tooltip code again in order to apply it to new items that may have been added to the page. In your case however, the page is so complex and frequently changing that this can cause serious issues.

Please, make sure that ALL of your “in page” tooltips have the “live” option unchecked.
