I have one question would the Google crawlers be able to crawl through all my links on menu? Here is my site with menu {URL REMOVED}

Thanks

Luke

Hello Luke,

The standard AllWebMenus menu has all its content within the JavaScript files, so search engines that are not able to access JS files will not see it.

There are two tricks you can do to increase your SEO:

First you can create a “sitemap” page (AllWebMenus will generate it automatically for you). If you link this page to your index page (even as a link not noticeable to the human eye) the search engine crawlers will follow it and discover all the menu links. To do this, have a look under “Tools->Create Sitemaps”.

You can also create a Sitemap for Google. Go to Tools-> Create Sitemaps -> Create Google Sitemap.

Second, you can turn your menu into a UL/LI menu. This means that you will have to insert the menu content into every single page (the same way you would do with a CSS menu). This of course adds more maintenance, but the menu links are visible in all pages. If you choose this option, we recommend that you use an include file so that you only have to edit the menu content in a single place if you want to change something in the menu in the future.

You can find more details about both methods in the project properties:

menu SEO properties

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you!

Kind Regards,

Hi Folks,

I am building a silo structured website and would *love* to use your Allwebmenus Pro but I need to hide the menus from Google and make their bot follow my link structure.

As the experts, can you advise,
1. Can/does Google read the js files?
2. What about putting the javascript files in a directory and disallowing it in robots.txt?
3. Is it worth putting the menus in an I-Frame?

Note: I am specifically worried about Google and assume you are up-to-date with the latest thinking.

Your advice ahead of a purchase would be much appreciated.

Regards,
James

Hello James,

First, thank you for your interest in our Likno products.

As far as we know, Google cannot find the links contained inside our menu.js file, because this file does not have straight <a> tags, or even "onclick" methods. It merely has the URL as a string parameter which later the awmlib1.js (or awmlib2.js) reads and creates the link.

See for example one such "item" inside the menu.js file:

it=s1.addItemWithImages(7,8,8,"AllWebMenus Examples",n,n,"",n,n,n,3,3,3,n,n,n,"",n,n,n,"examples.html?source=side",n,0,0,2,10,11,11,12,13,13,1,1,1,0,0,n,n,n,0,0,0,4,n);

For this reason, we created the "UL/LI" population option in AllWebMenus so that users that do need SEO and Google crawling the pages can use it.

So, we believe that if you use AllWebMenus with the standard population method Google will not crawl the links within (which are actually parameters).

Don’t put the menus in an i-frame, it has no difference in terms of Google crawl.

Also read this:

http://moz.com/ugc/can-google-really-access-content-in-javascript-really

So I believe you are safe with the external menu.js file of ours (which does not even have the links in coding format but only as parameters).

Aris

Hello ,

I want to implement a Google translator within my AllWebMenus.

Here is the code  with one of my website pages.

This is the meta data:

<meta name="google-translate-customization" content="80d0ad144bd83465-b5af1067486ce75c-gf85d3def40656a45-2f"></meta>

and this the code for the language choose box:

<div id="google_translate_element"></div><script type="text/javascript">
function googleTranslateElementInit() {
  new google.translate.TranslateElement({pageLanguage: 'en', layout: google.translate.TranslateElement.InlineLayout.SIMPLE, autoDisplay: false, gaTrack: true, gaId: 'UA-1699958-2'}, 'google_translate_element');
}
</script><script type="text/javascript" src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit"></script>

I implemented it by HTM Full mode, but it doesn't work.

I can't get this run within the menu.

Any chance to get it run. I think that is a areal good feature within a menu

Thanks for your help in advance

Cheers

Gisbert

Dear Gisbert,

Indeed adding <script> tags within a menu element can cause unpredictable results.

The best way to implement what you want, is to do it within your actual page. To do this, you will need to change your menu into a “UL/LI” menu that takes its structure from your HTML page.

The screenshot below shows you how to change the menu to “UL/LI” and how to get the sample menu code to use in your page:

ul li menu

Note that UL/LI menus require that you have the population code in each page where the menu appears. For this reason, we highly recommend that you create an include file and put the code there, so that it is easier to maintain in the future.

You can get more help regarding this feature within the application help (just click on the question mark above the “settings” link).

Thanks a lot for the fast answer.
I will see what I can do , maybe I stay with the menu as it is and I implement the translator free on the page.
Have a nice day

Dear Kostas

In this site http://www.espacereperes.be/artistes.php I use modal windows( by clicking on the image or the text like below)

But it seems not working with google chrome. With IE, opera, safari or firefox it is ok

modal window does not work

Best regards

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Roland,

I just checked your site with Chrome and the modal windows seem to work fine!

Modal window works

The only problem (visible in all browsers) is that the “close image” does not exist online, so you get a missing image instead.

Please try deleting Chrome’s Cache Files (using “Ctrl + Shift + Del”) and if you still do not see the modal after this, please double-check your plugins to see if any of them is causing the problem.

Let me know of your findings.

Kostas

Dear Kostas

I have done what you suggest, and it was the same

I fact, on the 1first loading of the page it does not work, after reloading (F5) it worked.

Now I have recompiled and re-upload, at it seems no more problems.

Concerning the close button, it have been resolved in the same time.

Thank you
