Hello there I am just about to do the updates to the above website and I would like to make the webpages a bit more flexible for the viewer by using a liquid layout which would allow the website to contract or expand to suit to viewers monitors resolution. I altered the webpages, but I'm having trouble withe the menus, bother the vertical and the horizontal menu bars. Is there anyway to get the menu bars to shrink or grow to match the viewer resolution? or do I have to make ... say 3 websites with low, medium or higher resolution. At the moment on my test website the menu bar only comes across half the screen, when viewed on a very large monitor and it's too long on a low resolution? If you can point me in the right area, I would appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Graham

Hello,

The solution you are looking for is a Responsive Menu. This is supported by AllWebMenus, so first of all you need to get the latest AllWebMenus version if you do not already have this (according to your Update Plan you can get this for free).

Once you have this you will note that the following option has been added in the “Global Properties”:

responsive menu properties

I recommend that you have 4 menu versions to accommodate for 4 different screen sizes. Note that the predefined sizes are set to match the computer screen, iPad in horizontal and vertical orientation and mobile phones.

Once you select this you will notice the following listbox:

responsive menu versions

From this point on, your menu has 4 different versions and you can select from this listbox which version you are editing at any given time.

Then all you have to do is to set different styles (and content and positioning) for your four menu versions, and compile and upload the menu to your pages normally.

Note that we have also added a Responsive example to help you get started:

Hi
On this page {URL REMOVED} I have a yellow, horizontal menu at the top. It used to match the width of the red jpg. banner above it, but now the menu appears too wide. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Rich

Dear Rich,

I checked your menu and it is indeed very wide in all browsers.

This happens because you have set the menu items to be uniform so they all take the width of the largest one (“Reader’s Forum”):

I have just installed Internet Explorer 10. Now the menus on my web site are distorted. Horizontal menu s are one word wide with multiple words on new lines; vertical menus are the same. Also, inserted horizontal lines are double in width. The problems go away when I toggle the Compatible View icon so that it's set for older browsers, but I don't want visitors to have to do this. What can I do to set AllWebMenus so that visitors will see the that are correct for the Compatible View to which they have set their pages when they open a new page?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

This happens because you do not have a valid DOCTYPE in your pages. You should know that IE10 is pretty strict regarding this. When the DOCTYPE is missing, IE falls in the so called “quirks mode” which is essentially IE5.5 Compatibility Mode. This causes the problems you see in the menu.

To fix this problem (and more), please add the following line at the top of each of your pages:

<!DOCTYPE html>

I am looking to make a wordpress site that resembles  http://diablo3blog.blogspot.com/ I want my blog and pages to have the ability to have multiple top menus like the above link as well as a side bar link menu using http://wpmegamenu.com/help/  or your floating menu .
Is this something your program would be able to do without using any drop down menus of any sort?  Is your plugin compatible with most wordpress themes or do I need a theme made by you?

Hello,

You can easily achieve the specific “multiple menu” effect in two ways:

1) You can actually have multiple menus linked into WordPress, or even better

2) You can create a single menu with multiple rows:

multi row horizontal menu

Regarding the left menu, this is a pretty simple vertical menu, so no problems here either. The only thing that we do not support is this specific mouse-over effect in the menu items.

Overall, AllWebMenus will allow you to create and add as many menus as you want in your WordPress site. Each menu can have any menu type you want (horizontal, vertical, sliding), with multiple rows/columns (or not), with or without submenus (sliding or floating), etc.

Of course our menus will work with all WordPress themes, and in all the latest browsers and mobile devices.

Hello there,

I have made my first menu and it seems quite easy. The software is very good developed!

However I have a couple of questions:

  1. I have used just the first example of horizontal menu as template. I didn’t use any image but why on menu preview (in FireFox for example) when I right click on the menu the options refers to images… I mean shouldn’t this be a normal menu without images?
  2. How do I set to select the menu of current pages? Like if I am in news.php the menu “News” should be selected?

Many thanks,
Paolo

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Paolo,

1) The menu always uses a dummy image in order to handle all the mouse-events. It is natural that you see this.

2) You can use the “Show Item or Group on Appear” property to achieve this:
