My company is bringing website maintenance in house.

The website company that originally did our website used AllWebMenus Pro, which we purchased. We want to add an item to the navigation menu.

I uploaded the .awm files for the index and other pages (there is one for the index page and another for the other pages). I added the menu item to the .awm file for the non-index pages, saved the edit, and uploaded it to our site  through Dreamweaver, but the change did not take effect. I did not compile the menu.

Please advise. Thank you.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello Pam,

The .awm is not to be uploaded, it is just the source file of the project. You need to compile the projects and then upload the related compiled files online (at their proper location).

Kostas

Hello Guys:
Knowing it's probably me, at 66 it seems difficult to grasp all of this.
Here is my problem: On our main site if you mouse over on the 4th button down you will get a 3 item SUB group, all works well. BUT if you click on the button that opens the sub-group (Parking Decals) it will generate a 404 error. Your requested file or folder URL, /sid:1051 cannot be found at the specified location.
This structure is imported from Front Page.
Thank you for any help you provide with this.

Dear Bill,

I checked your site and noticed that this is true for all menu items that have a submenu. It is likely that this is due to some FrontPage incompatibility.

Do you have actual pages that should be shown when clicking on a parent item? or do you want the parent items to simply not have links?

Also do you believe you could send us a zipped version of your FrontPage project so that we can try to reproduce the problem?

Kostas

Hello Kostas:

> It is likely that this is due to some FrontPage incompatibility.

PLEASE don’t forget it could be something I did!  :)

> do you want the parent items to simply not have links?

NO links for the parent buttons, just a place holder to open and pick from the sub. (this could be the problem)

> Also do you believe you could send us a zipped version of your FrontPage project so that we can try to reproduce the problem?

Do you mean the  generated menu files or the complete site, the site is 12+ megs.

Just to make sure I am setting FP up correctly let me attach a partial view of the FH Navigation structure.  (see attached)

I used a custom link bar where ever I needed a sub. I am not sure if this is correct, It’s the only way I could make this work!

Hello again,

I see that your parent links are not linked to standard pages (as is usually the case):

parent links not linked to standard pages

What is this link icon I see there? Are these HTML pages?

Also, if possible, please check the folder where you store your website.

If you have admin rights, you should be able to see a hidden folder named “_vti_pvt” and within this you should see a file named “structure.cnf”.

Please send me this file so that I can forward it to our developers.

The guy who did all of the for 13 years moved out of state the first of the year to care for his parents. Sad smile

The structure.cnf file is attached.

This weekend I must have changed/compiled this menu 10 to 12 times with NO problem.

Just now I went in there to do a screen capture and got a invalid procedure for the first time in over a week? (Attached)

I also attaches a screen capture Partial from inside allwebmenu.

> What is this link icon I see there? Are these HTML pages?

The places you have circled are the htm parent buttons that generate the error when you click.

Thanks again
Bill

Dear Bill,

Can you please download the latest AllWebMenus and see if this resolves the problem?

(our developer team told me they made some corrections in the latest build)

Dear Kostas

I have to migrate a website (http://www.mange-mon-amour.be/ ) to another server

I have transferred all files and databases but the server side menu do not work, can you tell me where is the problem

Best regards

Cordialement
Roland

Dear Roland,

I see a lot of server-side errors when I “view source” in your pages. I guess you need to revisit your server-side code that builds the menu.

Things to check would be missing variables and changes in the database names etc.

Support Case Month: June 2012

I had to reinstall AllWebMenus and I installed it on my D drive. When I bring up AllWebMenus I get the following error.

The following images are not found at their specified location:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\AllWebMenus\\Bullets\\v5_bullets_04.gif

Thanks

Mike

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Mike,

Am I correct to assume that you are double-clicking on your project file to bring up AllWebMenus?

This means that your project was saved looking under “c:\...\Bullets” for a specific image. Please click on the “find missing images” and navigate to “d:\...\Bullets” to find the missing images (then save your project).

Support Case Month: July 2012

I had asked this question in the past and cannot find the answer.  I know now that I can apply a style to just a specific SubGroup.  I know I was able to open a SubGroup in a specific location but I cannot find where I did it in the past.  I want to open the specific SubMenu in a Specific Location so that it does not open out so far to the left.  If you can tell me where to find this setting again I would greatly appreciate.

Bob

Hello Bob,

You just choose that specific subgroup in Menu Editor, then select "All Values" and customize its "Appears" properties accordingly:

subemenu specific properties

OK,  I will give that another look.  I know I had done it before but was not able at that time to figure out how to apply the setting to a specific subgroup instead of all of them.  The only difference was this, and I am not sure if this will have any bearing on the setting or where I set it up.  I have a subgroup that has a Range of Sizes (1500-1999, 2000-2499,2500-2999, etc).  When I click on one of these subgroups, I would like it to disappear and the SubGroup of the Range Choice to open up in the same location.  My reason for this is so that the menu doesn’t extend so far out into the page.  Do I still use the setting below, or do I set that up somewhere else??

Thanks again for your help.

Bob

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Bob,

There is no way to make the parent group disappear, however you can use the “Appears – Where” as well as the “Appears – Aligned with” properties to make a submenu open directly over the parent group. This will only work in Horizontal or Vertical menus – not on Sliding menus.

Thanks for your help.  That is where the problem is coming in.  I knew I was able to do this before I just couldn’t remember where the setting was that I used.   Now I know why…it cannot be a sliding menu.

Thanks again for your help.

Bob
