Hello,

First I want to thank your help on the Mega Drop Down menu of the page in reference. However I haven't finished yet...

1. The About Us Item should have a different width than the other two, but when I do so the webpage and the preview image of the application show me the right width once and then it drops a lighter shadow to match the width of the other two menu items Go Dive and Go Pro (right now is set with the same width than the other two)

2. As you know/notice I'm working with a joomla platform and this site is going to be bilingual, thus I'm using joomfish.... usually I do have problems translating menu because I use Dynamic menu type, but this one I'm using is Static... So in order to add the AW Menu to joomfish I need an .xml file of the component... can you help me? Thanks in advance.

Hello again,

1) If you send me the menu I can check what’s wrong and tell you how to fix it.

2) I am afraid that this is not possible. If you are using a static menu, then you need to simply have a separate menu for each language. You can then use the menu component to specify in which pages each menu should appear.

Hello Donald,

May I assume that you refer to this menu?

mega menu example

If yes, then your current AllWebMenus license is capable of doing so. This is an advanced type of menu, you need to be an advanced user of AllWebMenus but you can do it with its features.

I also advise you to see the following example in AllWebMenus:

FYI, if you happen to have problems with creating the design of that menu, we also have a service for creating menus, at around $150 per menu design (minimum, it depends on the design).

I have been using your software and have worked many hours to build my own MEGA DROP DOWN menu.  I have gotten it to appear fine in IE9, but I am having trouble with the submenus in GOOGLE CHROME and FIREFOX.  Sometimes the drop down menus do not show the white background so that the text in those menus shows up easily...if I reload the page after it loads the first time, it does show properly.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Hello,

Just before the submenu opens for the first time it tries to calculate the width/height it should take.

The HTML you entered has a lot of images without specified width/height, so when it opens it becomes a given size that fits the text. Then the images load and push the text down, but the submenu cannot re-adjust itself.

If you view the page again, then the images are already cached and hence appear instantly and can be properly measured.

There are two solutions for this:

1) Specify the width/height for each image.

2) Specify the width/height of the <table> container of each submenu.

Hi, thank you for the quick reply.

Sorry for my badly written email. I'm building a Drupal 7 Website and I want a menu with a mouse over option.  I noticed on your web demo that you can have different displays colors etc per menu and I'm looking to do this for the website.
This is a link to want I have in mind www.next.co.uk.
Will the web menu have all the features available with the Drupal 7 add on as it would if I was using Dreamweaver?

Thanks again,
Tom

Hello Tom,

If the menu items are populated using the "Static" option, then you can have different colors per menu items, etc. You can actually do anything you like because you will add the items MANUALLY inside the AllWebMenus application.

But if you want the items to be retrieved dynamically by a database, then you need to use the "Dynamic" option which means that the items cannot have different styles (apart from the 3 groups of Main Menu, Submenu and Submenu+).

The URL that you sent me shows a "MEGA MENU". The items within each submenu are not "normal" menu items but each submenu is just ONE item that uses HTML inside it.

See this menu in our Example:

As Jakob Nielsen (the "king of usability") says in his article on mega drop-down menus usability, mega menus have the following characteristics:

- Big, two-dimensional panels divided into groups of navigation option

- Navigation choices structured through layout, typography, and (sometimes) icons

- Everything visible at once, no scrolling

- Vertical or horizontal form factors when activated from top navigation bars; when activated from left-hand navigation, they might appear as mega fly-outs.

Visit our examples page to view 2 mega menu examples, which are  simple variations of the vertical mega drop-down menus used at foodnetwork.com and actionenvelope.com:

Mega CSS Menu

So, how is a mega drop-down menu created using AllWebMenus?

This is easy!

- Add a single item only on each submenu of the Main Menu items

- Use the "HTML - Full Mode" value at the "Text" property of that submenu items

- Add any content you like to the "Text" property (tables, divs, links, text, images, etc.) using simple HTML
