Hi,

Can you tell me if Likno has a tool to help create Mega Menu without having to write html codes ?

Thanks,

Frank

Hello Frank,

First, thank you for your purchase.

Hmm…in order to create a mega menu you need to write some HTML code. However, we have 2 mega menu examples in which you can see the code and edit it to your own needs.

The mega menu examples are:

http://www.likno.com/jquery-builders/examples.php?p=awm&e=mega_dropdown_menu1

http://www.likno.com/jquery-builders/examples.php?p=awm&e=mega_dropdown_menu2

Please, let me know if I can be of further help.

Kind Regards,

I wanted to know if you have this drop down menu effect as a module to be purchased or how much to develop the code for it?

Hello Bryant,

Do you refer to the mega menu feature? The way that this menu has all those items is with images?

mega drop down menu with images

Or you refer to something else?

We have 2 mega drop down menus examples.

In AllWebMenus -> Themes and Examples you can find the #18 – Mega Drop Down Menu example which you can select to edit it and create your own based on this.

mega drop down menu

We also have this mega drop down menu example in our examples page: http://www.likno.com/jquery-builders/examples.php?p=awm&e=mega_dropdown_menu1

You can download the project, open it in AllWebMenus and create your own based on this.

If you would like us to create a mega drop down menu like in the site you sent me please let me know so I can give you a quote for this. Furthermore, I would like you to give me some details on what items your menu should have, stylings etc so we can better understand the result you would like to achieve.

Knowledge Base support case for AllWebMenus Pro and Likno Web Tooltips Builder, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Support Case Month: August 2013

Hi.
As you will see from my site, I have a mega menu, and I am attempting to tooltips from Likno Web Tooltips.  I have been able to add them successfully to the Main Menu Group.  However, I have not been able to get the Likno Web Tooltips to display in the Sub-menus - just the default tooltip formatting or the standard tooltip format for the page that links to the sub-menu.

On the sub-items style I want to use "Tooltip_MegaMenu" that displays the tooltip to the right of the target. This tooltip has been compiled with Source AllWebMenus. There is a title for each submenu item, as displayed.

Perhaps instructions or a demo for mega menus would help as I was unable to find anything in the manual or knowledgebase.

Hope you can help.  The software works fine otherwise thanks.

Regards,
Chris

Hello Chris,

Please, download the latest version of Likno Web Tooltips Builder  http://www.likno.com/jquery-tooltips/download.php

After you have installed it, open your tooltip project and make the following changes:

likno tooltip content source

After you have finished with the changes, re-compile your tooltips project and re-upload the produced files.

Then in your AllWebMenus project you need to add the class="megaTooltip" where you want the Tooltip to appear.

likno tooltip element

Compile your menu project and re-upload the produced files.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you!

Hi again Aggelos,

Following my previous email, where I asked about interference between Toolip_Page and Tooltip_Mega  I made a change to Tooltip_Page (attached).  On the project tooltips tab, I changed Opens When to “Some of the page ….” and  defined a class name.  This change allowed both tooltips to be previewed as intended – it appeared to stop interference.  On compiling, the tooltip Tooltip_Mega was displayed in the menu for the first time, but not for the whole menu – only for subitems linked to the page that was open.  The rest of the menu used default formatting – as described in my previous email.

It would be useful to be able to use the in-page method with “ALL” title and alt items on the page (without having to define class), plus have mega menu items pick up tooltip style (with defined class), but across the whole menu, not just parts as I am currently generating.

Hello Chris,

Have you changed anything in the meantime as I see in this url {URL REMOVED} the submenu tooltips to appear in all submenus.

You can use the In Page source and ANY page element that uses title or alt. Note though that this will affect anything in your page. So if you have another alt or title in any other element in your page will be displayed in the Likno Tooltip. In this case, you don’t need to define any class for the tooltip.

tooltip content settings

If you need some specific tooltips to show differently then you could have the in page source option for SOME of the page elements and define a class for those items.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you!

Reply From: Chris

As I noted in my email this morning, I made my own tooltips with CSS for the menu (submenu groups), but I would prefer to use tooltips from Likno if I can get them working.

At the weekend I recompiled the site after changing my template in Dreamweaver, so the Likno calls appear in a slightly different order – this was so my menus stayed linked when I updated the page template.

I have attached two images to demonstrate the problem I have with Likno Tooltips. They are both from the page article1894ReformDressWedding.html – the bottom item on the “Articles” submenu. The page is on my computer, not on the website.  The browser is Firefox.  I have attached a copy of both my tooltips and the Menu as exported.

The page on my computer is the same html as the version on the website so you can see the source html – {URL REMOVED}. However, the javascript  tooltip on the website is different to the zip file attached – so that Likno tooltips will not display in the submenu groups on the website version, but will on my computer.

View1 – this shows two tooltips for an item in the Articles submenu group - The green tooltip is the one generated by Likno Tooltips.  The orange tooltip is from my css.  Both tooltips get their data from data-tooltip in the menu html.  You will note that “Articles” is highlighted in the menu.

View2 – this shows only one tooltip for “Comrie” – the orange tooltip from my css.  The green Likno tooltip is not generated, but should be too.

The problem demonstrated is that the Likno tooltips are only displayed for the items that relate to the page being displayed – the one with the yellow item highlighting.  I would like the tooltips to display for the whole menu, not just for the page item opened.  If you can get this working I will delete my additional css, and use the Likno tooltips!

I hope the jpg files assist in demonstrating the problem.  As I am not in to javascript, I am not sure if the order of making javascript calls in my html affects how Likno software works?  All pages have Allwebmenus and tooltips, some have modal windows.  Perhaps get the order of my javascript calls checked too?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Chris

Hello Chris,

Please, check the live option in your Tooltip_Mega

live option in likno tooltips

Then, re-compile your project and re-upload the produced files.

This should solve the problem  and you could see your likno tooltip wherever you have the attribute data-tooltip.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you!

Initial Email Subject: Using an asp.net form in a mega menu
Support Case Month: July 2013

Hi Kostas

I have a new support request, but linked to this previous one (below).

I would like to create dynamic mega menus using a UL/LI structure generated by ASP.

Our menu format uses 5 columns created by a div structure. The attached txt file shows the full html version which works with AWM but is not dynamic.

We can replace the existing links with UL/LI structures, but I expect that to achieve a controlled 5 column layout we would need 5 separate UL/LI structures (one per div).

Is this going to work?!

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
John

Hello John,

If you need to use 5 DIVs then the answer is yes, you would need 5 different menus which is not the best solution.

Why don't you use one div that holds the whole ul/li structure for your menu?

Check the AllWebMenus sample ul/li structure to get an idea how the menu is populated in ul/li.

menu structure code

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you!

I am just getting started with AllWebMenus Pro and am trying to create a mega menu but don't see that option in your style list. Can you walk me through how to do this?

Thank you,
Terri

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Terri,

Regarding the mega-menu, this can be achieved by adding a single submenu item that uses the “HTML – Full Mode”. This way you can add custom HTML to create the content of your mega-menu. You can see examples of this and download the menu projects in our online examples page:

http://www.likno.com/examples.html?example=mega_dropdown_menu1

http://www.likno.com/examples.html?example=mega_dropdown_menu2

In order to use an image with a link, you can add an HTML code similar to the following:

<a href="http://www.mysite.com/">
      <img src="myimage.jpg" style="border: none;">
</a>

To create a submenu that takes up the full screen, set it as a menubar:

menubar mega menu

Finally in standard floating menus, if you want to use an image, simply add the image and link in the appropriate fields:

menu image property

I hope the above were helpful. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Best Regards,
Kostas
