Is there anything extra I can do to make the menu load faster?
How does it load for you?

Thanks, Pat...

Dear Pat,

I checked your page and I saw that the menu does take a bit of time the first time it loads, because all of your items are images and they take some time to download. After the first load, when you visit another page the menu appears instantly as the images are cached in the browser, so this is not much of a problem.

However if you want to make your menu even faster/lighter, then the solution is to keep only two background images (for normal & mouseover) and use text for your menu items.

Kostas

I have used the DHTML menus on several websites and this one I am having trouble with it not appearing in IE8 and IE9.  I checked the knowledge base and made sure that this menu was compiled with the most recent version.

Can you assist me further with what is wrong in the menu?  It does work on all other browsers I have tested, including IE10 (very odd as IE10 never plays nicely!)

Thank you!
Lorrie

Dear Lorrie,

It seems that the problem is caused by a single line in your CSS!

.topnavarea {
              height:50px;
              background: #FFF;
              vertical-align:middle;
            }

This “height: 50px” affects the .topnavarea and causes the menu to move to the right. It is not invisible, it is just moved off-page creating a horizontal scrollbar.

Please try correcting this to fix the problem.

Hi,

I have used my own buttons with rounded ends. The green area here is transparent, however no matter what I set in AWM, the area shows as not being transparent (see below). I tried with both GIF and PNG’s, and with NO Background colors or tiles, but no joy. Did I miss a step some place?

Thanks,
Gus

Dear Gus,

This is because the item’s background tile image is being tiled throughout the whole item. You want to set this to tile between the left & right image:

Hi Kostas,

My new main nav bar works in IE but it goes off the page in Firefox?

The site is live now. I never had a problem with it fitting. I did add one ore menu item, but I played around and it fit fine. I never had your program give me this kind of error, it always seem to work across all browsers.

What do you think it could be?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Robert

Dear Robert,

I checked your page in various browsers and I see that this happens in most browsers, even in older versions of IE.

The reason your menu fits in IE9+ is that IE has a special font rendering engine that makes fonts a bit smaller in width.

The solution is to make your menu smaller (e.g. by removing 1-2 pixels from the empty space between each item pair) and then set the minimum width to 940px in order to make sure that it has the same size in all browsers.

Dear reader,

after the last update of Likno Modal Windows, the Likno Menu stays on top of all objects also the LWMW-layer. Setting z-index of the menu to -1 did solve it for Firefox, Chrome but not for Internet Explorer 10

What to do?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Kind regards,
RuuRd

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear RuuRd,

Where did you set the z-index to -1? I checked your site and I see that the menu is set to z-index: 1000.

z-index CSS property

The same is true for the modal window. Please change the modal window z-index to 1010 or the menu  z-index to 990 in order to fix this problem.

Thank you Kostas,

I forgot that this value is (or can be) set in the IDE of AllWebMenus, so I did set the other value somewhere else in my code (later executed).

Kind regards,
RuuRd
