Support Case Month: December 2013

Hello,

I am trying to install the Likno Builders in my new Windows 8 64bit PC and although it says that installation was successful, the applications fail to load.

When I try to install the  Likno Builders, it asks me to install the Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5. I let this installation begin, but I always get an error 0x800F906 and I cannot install the required Framework.

What can I do?

Robert

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello Robert,

The most possible is that you try to install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 in a PC which is connected to a domain. This would stop you from downloading the necessary files due to the group policy rights.

Please, read the following Microsoft help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782 and follow the steps on Method 2: Configure the Group Policy setting

or you may want to see the steps here:

To configure the Group Policy setting, follow these steps:

  1. Start the Local Group Policy Editor or Group Policy Management Console.
Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012: Point to the upper-right corner of the screen, click Search, type group policy, click Settings, and then click Edit group policy.

Start Group Policy in Windows 8

Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2: Point to the upper-right corner of the screen, click Search, type group policy, and then click Edit group policy.

Open group policy in Windows 8.1

  2. Expand Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, and then select System. The screen shot for this step is listed below.

The screen shot for this step

  3. Open the Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair Group Policy setting, and then select Enabled. The screen shot for this step is listed below.

The screen shot for this step

  4. If you want to specify an alternative source file, in the Alternate source file path box, specify a fully qualified path of a shared folder that contains the contents of the \sources\sxs folder from the installation media.

Example of a shared folder path: \\server_name\share\Win8sxs

Or, specify a WIM file. To specify a WIM file as an alternative source file location, add the prefix WIM: to the path, and then add the index of the image that you want to use in the WIM file as a suffix.

Example of a WMI file path: WIM:\\server_name\share\install.wim:3
Note In this example, 3 represents the index of the image in which the feature files are found.

  5. If it is applicable to do this, select the Contact Windows Update directly to download repair content instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) check box.
  6. Tap or click OK.
  7. At an elevated command prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter to apply the policy immediately:

    gpupdate /force

  8. Restart your PC.

  9. Then, run the Likno Builders installers, this time when you are prompted to install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 you will be able to successfully install it, so you won't have any problem with the Likno Builders.

Let me know how that worked for you.

Thank you!

Kind Regards,
Aggelos Tsakonas

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Modal Windows,  abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email From:

Initial Email Subject: Modal Window IE6 support
Support Case Month: February 2013

Hi Kostas,

Thank you for the support you provided recently.
I have an issue with the latest version of the Web Modal.
It opens a portion of a page (made of only HTML) inside the same page. It works well on all browsers and all IE versions except IE6.
That old IE6 bug that causes Combo boxes being visible through the Modal.
In AllWebMenu we have an option to fix it by hiding the combo boxes or iFrame. There is no option in Web Modal product.
It may be useful to mention there is also an Accordion in the main page (not the modal) made of latest version of Accordion.
I would appreciate your help with this problem.

Thank you,
Saeed

Dear Saeed,

I am afraid that this is indeed not available in the Modal Builder or any of our other builder products.

Support for IE6 has the potential to double the script size, so we decided (along with Microsoft) that it is time to drop full support for IE6. Most things will still work, but some specific bugs such as this one will not be resolved anymore.

Kostas

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Button Maker,  abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email From:
User
Initial Email Subject: Web button maker does not launch after install
Support Case Month: February 2013

I just purchased Likno Web Button Maker.
Windows server 2003 (.net framework 3.5) 32 bits
Installation is OK.
But the application does not launch.
Computer Management > Event Viewer > Applications > Error :
"Faulting application Likno Web button maker version 2.0.0.162, faulting module msvcr71.dll version 7.10.30.52.4 faulting address 0x00002777
Before writing this message i tried many things :
1) I got many copies of msvcr71.dll on my system (in photoshop install directory, in ms-office installed dir etc...). Replacing the original msvcr71.dll in the system32 folder by any of those copies of msvcr71.dll gives the same error.
2) Putting also msvcr71.dll in "program files\likno web button maker" and in "program files\likno web button maker\res" does not solve the problem.
3) I even tried to register msvcr71.dll manually but it does not seems to be registrable since i get the error "msvcr71.dll was lodaed but the dllserverregister entry point was not found..."

Well, i'll be pleased if you could tell me how to solve that problem.
Thanks

Hello,

This is the Microsoft C++ runtime library. I suggest that you try re-installing it from here:

http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/KB932298/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=762

Let me know if this worked.

Another thing you may want to try is to try installing Button Maker by using “run as admin” on the installer.

Knowledge Base support case for AllWebMenus,  abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email Subject: Browser Detection
Support Case Month: February 2013

I just used Modern EI from Microsoft and it detected 1 problem dealing with Browser Detection. My site passes all the other tests.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

This is not an error, but rather an informational note. It is true that AllWebMenus has browser detection code in order to use the best way to build the menu according to each browser.

This is required for two reasons:

1) There is no possible detections for specific features or their detection would require inefficient code to run.

2) Although some browsers may support a new feature, they may support it very poorly and using it could make the browser very slow. Hence we may choose not to use a specific feature even if it is supported by a given browser.
