Hi Guys

I have AllWebMenus Pro and an older version of Modal Windows.

I want a modal window for a Responsive site that is live at the moment but want to know if I upgrade whether this will work to resize for a responsive site please.

I want a modal to load for my client site on home page arrival  advertising a special offer and link to a page for {URL REMOVED}

Will this work please and how would you recommend I set it up? – if it will work I will upgrade both AWM and MW at the same time in my user account.

Kind regards,
Phil

Dear Phil,

The latest AllWebMenus indeed allows creating responsive menus for your sites. Note that setting a menu as responsive will not shrink the menu automatically! You need to create your own designs (e.g. make the tablet menu version as two-row menu and the phone menu version as a vertical menu) and the menu will automatically display the correct menu based on your settings.

The modal window was always “responsive”, in the sense that it will always stay within the boundaries of the current page.

I hope the above was helpful for you. Let me know if you want more specific details.

Kostas

Dear Kostas

Thanks for your reply.

AWM

It is great to see your recommendation for tablet menu as two rows and mobile as vertical.

The problem I have had with AWM is knowing how to structure having three designs whereas, as we have discussed before css3menus.com auto-adjust from just one design.

I would like to go back to using AWM, as I am only making responsive sites now; could you just advise please:

1. Whether all or most designs can be in both horizontal and vertical – if not how do we tell?

2. Can you have both from within one project file.

3. Any more revelations of tips on how to set up AWM as responsive from your experience please – that tip above was so useful thanks.

MODAL

You mention that they always stay within the window boundary but there are settings in the project for width and height sizes in pixels.

So a m I wrong in thinking if I set it to 600px wide it will bust an iphone screen that has read the  tag
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">.

If it just resizes to fill the screen then that would be excellent or if not what designs tips would you have for that please?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Phil,

1) All designs can be switched from horizontal to vertical and vice versa. However, in some of them, the graphics have been especially designed for a specific orientation, so you may need to edit a couple of graphics to make the menu look perfect. The only way to tell if a design will look good in a different orientation, is to actually try it and see for yourself (it is only two clicks to do it).

2) A single project file will store all the responsive menu versions (up to four).

3) Hints:

a) First of all, turn your menu into a Responsive Menu

b) You can use these links to quickly clone the menu structure (for example you add a new item in version1 and want the same in the other menu versions)

c) Use this listbox to change from one version to another

responsive menu settings

Note that the way we’ve design this, you can even use a different Theme for each menu version , and each version can have a different menu structure!

Dear Kostas

Thank you very much for those tips, most useful.

At the bottom of my last email I was asking about the responsiveness of the Modal window software I was thinking of updating, could you advise on this too please, here is the bit from my last email:

MODAL

You mention that they always stay within the window boundary but there are settings in the project for width and height sizes in pixels.

So am I wrong in thinking if I set it to 600px wide it will bust an iphone screen that has read the  tag <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Phil,

Indeed if you set the Modal Window to 2000px wide, it will always resize to fit within the screen, also leaving a margin of 15px if I am not mistaken.

You can easily try this by resizing the preview window in the application!

Hello,

I want to buy the software, but I have to know before, FOR SURE, if it supports html5, modern browsers, and IE7 to IE10 (the same question for Likno Web Modal Windows Builder).

Also please inform if AllWebMenus works under a structure as:

<body>

<div id="inner">

<div id="outer">

<div id="Wrapper">  (positioning relative)

<here should be Likno menu> (positioning absolute)

I worked with Sothink DHTML Menu, that doesn’t support html5, and I have to switch to another software.

There is a starting sample at www.romtehnochim.com.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Adrian,

Yes, AllWebMenus does fully support HTML5 as well as all the latest browsers and mobile devices.

It will work with every possible HTML structure so you do not have to worry about this. Just select the page Element that will be used for Positioning and your menu will be attached to it.

Also note that if you find any difficulties, we are always here to help you out.

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Accordion Builder, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Support Case Month: June 2012

Hi,

I'm using Accordion Builder on a new client project and wish to have a side accordion floating on the left of the window. I've used Example 15L as my source and all works fine on standard monitors. However on mobile devices the pop out goes into the other content on the site, I would like the pop out to be on top. I can't find anywhere to change the z index of the accordion. Is this possible, as at the moment the pop out content is hidden under other elements.

Thanks for any help.

Dave

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Dave,

I believe the default accordion z-index is “3”, and indeed currently there is no way to change this.

I have forwarded your request to our developers and hopefully it will be added within the week.

I will send you an email as soon as this is online.

Dear Dave,

I just found this email regarding the z-index for the Accordion Builder.

I am informing you that

1) the default z-index is now 500

2) you can change this in the “Floating” Positioning property:

Hi,

Thanks for this. However I've just purchased continued support and updates and updated the software, but unfortunately it's still not working. I've loaded in my project, re-compiled it and replaced the link code in the html and it still doesn't work. The website I'm working on is http://www.cornishdreamcottages.co.uk/ You will see a special offers button on the left, if you re-size the browser to get the edge of the site close to the button and then click the button and scroll down the page, you will see that the accordion goes under some elements. The reason it doesn't go over all elements is because the top elements have been set to a z-index of 0. If you go to this page http://www.cornishdreamcottages.co.uk/about_treworgey.htm you will see that it goes under all elements.

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

Do you refer to this?

It seems that you have set this manually in the “Browser-specific Offsets”:

Hello,

I adjust this, but the problem persist in Safari for iPad iPhone, Opera Mini for Mobile Devices and the Android Browser.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Christian,

You are correct. I just checked your page in my own mobile and was able to see the problem. I was also able to see the problem in my PC in all browsers.

The problem is that you are using a positioning “Relative to Window” so the menu is always positioned in the same distance from the top-left window corner. However your page is moving depending on screen resolution! Hence, your menu only looks ok if the browser is maximized in a 1280x1024 screen.

I suggest that you change the positioning to “Relative to Element” using the following options:

menu position relative to element

This way the menu will always stick to “gk-mainbody” which is your main content div.

Initial Email Subject: Accordion inside another accordion?
Support Case Month: May 2012

I am rebuilding a few websites for mobile applications (tablet and phones).  I am going to use the accordion builder as navigation for these projects.  I am wondering, is possible to place an accordion inside an accordion?  That is, an accordion panel opens and contains another set of accordion panels inside of it
Thanks for everything,
Kevin

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Kevin,

Yes, this is possible but in order to avoid problems you should have the “inside” accordions in separate pages that are loaded as “External URL”:
