Support Case Month: July 2012

I have tried Style Editor Size and set minimum but I was unable to change the size from 960x40 to 900x28.

I can't figure how to do that on this horizontal menu.

thanks

Dear Bry,

First of all you need to set the Minimum Width:

menu minimum width

Then if your menu is wider than 900px, you will need to do one of the following:

1) Reduce the margin/padding of the main menu items.

2) Make sure that your items are not “uniform”:

menu items not uniform

Initial Email Subject: Firefox menu vertical shift
Support Case Month: December 2012

I have a small problem. In fact, about 1 px small.
In Firefox, the menu I created shifts down by about 1 px. It displays fine in IE and Chrome and I've gone over all the sizes to make sure they 're right.
If you go to the website I list above and look closely, you can see that the actual menu which has about 120 px padding left and right, is sitting low in Firefox. I tried this on two different PCs with 2 different versions of Firefox and they both do the same thing. You can also see (if you look hard) that the highlighted menu item has about a 1 px margin at the top of the highlight (again, showing that the menu is shifting down by about 1 px.)
Any ideas what might cause this?
I can fudge it by adding 1 px to the menu bar background and no one would probably notice (except me). But, I rather not.
Thanks,
Steve

Dear Steve,

I checked your page and noticed that the <span> you use for positioning is 1px low in Firefox, hence the menu is lower too.

My suggestion is that you use the parent <div> for positioning and instead of adding a padding to move the menu, use its offsets:

<div id="navBar">&nbsp;</div>

menu position relative to element

Even better, you could just center the menu to the <div>:

center menu position relative to element

Initial Email Subject: Bug: IE content padding issue
Support Case Month: April 2012

Using: Allwebmenu pro 5.3 #Build 888

The menu content padding is different for Internet explorer 9.

Please view the example at

http://erdinger.sg/mainpage.html

If you notice the top red navigation bar, i was force to increase the height of the bar to 32px specifically for IE browser.

For firefox/chrome the top bar is 28px only.

Cheers,

David

Dear David,

I checked your page and saw that the “navigation_bar” div has been specifically set to 32px in IE, but I do not understand why you did this…

This is what I see in my IE9:

clip_image001

So the menu is identical to Firefox, only 28px high, but the <div> behind it is 4px bigger. Do you not see the same thing?

Can you send me a screenshot of what you see, along with a screenshot of the “about box” of your IE?

Dear David,

I tested your site in more PCs but was not able to see what you see. It seems that in your IE9 the font is larger (like “bold”) compared to what I see. Is it possible that you have some special setup in your IE9 like “cleartype” or similar Microsoft features that would affect the font appearance? Do you see the same problem in more PCs?

Can you also send me the “about box” of your IE9 as I asked in my previous email? This may help me to recreate the problem (if you have a different version than I already use).

Finally, if the error only appears in your IE9, you could try resetting it back to its “factory” settings to see if this corrects the problem:

reset internet explorer settings

Initial Email Subject: menu is longer in IE9 than in Firefox, Safari, Opera
Support Case Month: May 2012

I just updated, so I have the latest AllwebMenus software.

I've set the Menu Positioning to Relative to an Element:

awmAnchor-LuxeHomecare

The menus is about 828 pixels wide in all browsers except IE9.

In IE9, it's 849 pixels wide.

Can you help, please?

Thank you,

Virginia

Dear Virginia,

Sometimes this can happen due to the different way each browser renders fonts. The solution would be to remove the item (left & right) padding you have, and set the menu to have a minimum width of 825px.

Initial Email Subject: scroll bars in modal window
Support Case Month: October 2012

I have put overflow:hidden; in the body css and it works beautifully in firefox.  The problem is safari, chrome and IE, there are scroll bars in all of those.  In IE8 it put additional white around the outside.

How do I fix this?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Valeria,

I noticed that you are loading an external page. In this case it is possible that the scrollbars are not from the modal itself, but from the inner iframe instead.

To fix this you need to make sure that your page fits in the modal window. You could do this by explicitly adding “padding: 0px; margin: 0px;” for the <body> and parent <div> in your external page.
