The responsive feature of AllWebMenus gives you the ability to create up to 4 different versions of your menu according to screen sizes.

You are able to have up to 4 versions of the menu and set the screen size for each version. Each version of the menu can have different content, styling, positioning. For example, you might want to have a horizontal menu for the desktop version, but a vertical sliding for the mobile version. Each version covers a range of screen sizes, in this way 4 versions are enough to cover all sizes.

According to the screenshot below,

the version 1 would be served for screens over 960px, this means that this version of the menu will be appropriate for laptops/desktops.

Version 2 will appear in screens between 768px and 959px, so this will appear in tablets on horizontal view.

Version 3 will appear in screens between 480px and 767px, so this will appear in tablets on vertical view.

Version 4 will appear in screens below 479px, so this means in mobile devices.

You can have a different Content, Styling and positioning for each of these versions.

If you need to use the same, just use the CLONE functionality after you make a change to one of these, it is very handy:

Support Case Month: May 2013

Please go to the specified URL. At the bottom, put your cursor over READ MORE under {NAME REMOVED}. As you can see, part of the tooltip is displayed off the screen. How to fix it?

Thanks

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

When a tooltip does not fit on the side you set it to appear (in your case “on top”) then it positions on the opposite side. The problem is that the last two tooltips in your page are so big that they do not fit in a single screen! If you made them a bit smaller in height (e.g. wider or with less text) then you would not see this problem.

Initial Email Subject: Webpage - Liquid layout
Support Case Month: April 2013

Hello there I am just about to do the updates to the above website and I would like to make the webpages a bit more flexible for the viewer by using a liquid layout which would allow the website to contract or expand to suit to viewers monitors resolution. I altered the webpages, but I'm having trouble withe the menus, bother the vertical and the horizontal menu bars. Is there anyway to get the menu bars to shrink or grow to match the viewer resolution? or do I have to make ... say 3 websites with low, medium or higher resolution. At the moment on my test website the menu bar only comes across half the screen, when viewed on a very large monitor and it's too long on a low resolution? If you can point me in the right area, I would appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Graham

Hello,

The solution you are looking for is a Responsive Menu. This is supported by AllWebMenus, so first of all you need to get the latest AllWebMenus version if you do not already have this (according to your Update Plan you can get this for free).

Once you have this you will note that the following option has been added in the “Global Properties”:

responsive menu properties

I recommend that you have 4 menu versions to accommodate for 4 different screen sizes. Note that the predefined sizes are set to match the computer screen, iPad in horizontal and vertical orientation and mobile phones.

Once you select this you will notice the following listbox:

responsive menu versions

From this point on, your menu has 4 different versions and you can select from this listbox which version you are editing at any given time.

Then all you have to do is to set different styles (and content and positioning) for your four menu versions, and compile and upload the menu to your pages normally.

Note that we have also added a Responsive example to help you get started:

Initial Email Subject: Server side api vs dreamweaver recordset
Support Case Month: March 2013

I just seem to be able to get the Server Side api running with Dreamweaver cs5.5. I get the menu on screen, but under "Onderafdelingen" I am trying to get results from a recordset and I can't get/understand how to do this. I read the help files but didn't understand half of it. Also examples didn't really work for me. Please, help.

Hello,

I am afraid that the original API was not designed for responsive versions.

It is still possible to use it for responsive menus, but in this case you will have to add your extra items to the structure of each one of the responsive versions.

For example, if you want to add a submenu to “Onderafdelingen” and then add an extra item, first you need to know the ID of “Onderafdelingen”:

view or edit menu structure variables

For example:

menu structure

In your case, the “Onderafdelingen” item has id=”awm_I18”. The responsive version IDs will have an extra “rmX” like so:

awm_I18
awm_rm2I18
awm_rm3I18
awm_rm4I18

So then the code you need is:

subMenu = awm_I18.newGroup('style=sub_group_style')
subItem = subMenu.newItem('style=sub_item_style;text0=My New Item;url=myUrl.html');
subMenu = awm_rm2I18.newGroup('style=sub_group_style')
subItem = subMenu.newItem('style=sub_item_style;text0=My New Item;url=myUrl.html');
subMenu = awm_rm3I18.newGroup('style=sub_group_style')
subItem = subMenu.newItem('style=sub_item_style;text0=My New Item;url=myUrl.html');
subMenu = awm_rm4I18.newGroup('style=sub_group_style')
subItem = subMenu.newItem('style=sub_item_style;text0=My New Item;url=myUrl.html');

Initial Email Subject: Drop-down Menu Displays only to Far Right
Support Case Month: May 2012

Greetings,

I have recently updated to AWM Version 5.3 Build #890, license 46286308. The sub-menus display properly in preview, but after the menu has uploaded to my site all the sub-menus display to the far right-hand side of the screen. I am unable to alter this performance. Your assistance would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Joe

Dear Joseph,

You say that you updated to build 890, but I checked your site and it seems that your online compiled menu is from build 818, while the online library files are from build 662!
Please Compile your menu again with build 890 and make sure that you upload ALL the compiled files (including the “awmData-safe_radio” folder).

Hello Kostas,
I just recompiled using Build # 890 and (after totally deleting all AWM files and folders
from my web site) uploaded the latest files to my web site again.
The results appear to be the same, so I must be missing something important on my
local computer.
Have you any other suggestions on how I might identify what I am missing here?
Tnx,
Joe

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Joe,

The online menu is now indeed from build 890, but the libraries are still the old ones:

Did you also upload the “awmdata” folder as you should? If not, please do this now.

Remember to delete the cache files (or “temporary internet files”) and then refresh your browser to see if the problem is resolved.
