How do I make the content of Modal Windows available to crawlers? It looks like only compiled code is available, which means Google etc won't find it.

If not, any suggestions?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

This is true only if you use the “Embedded” Content source type. Instead, you can use the “Page Element” source type so that the modal takes its content from the page. This way all crawlers will also see this content.

page element modal window source type

If you want to use the modal to open external pages and especially if want various page links to open in the same modal design, then I strongly recommend using the “Make certain links/forms in page open in this window” option:

make ceratin links open in same modal window

You will find many examples and sample code for this, but if you need more help then let me know your exact needs so that I can suggest the best solution.

I have a question regarding AWM.  We are working with someone rebuilding the navigation on our website.  We built our basis with AWM.  He then told us that your program would not support SEO.  I thought that I had read in a few places that it will.  When we are using links in our Navigation will they be recognized by SEO if we build and compile with AWM?

Thanks,
Bob

Dear Bob,

It does indeed support SEO in two different ways. The first is by using the included sitemap generators (under the “Tools” menu). The second is by using a “ULLI” menu in which case the menu structure (and links) is directly included in every page.

Please check the “SEO” section under Project Properties for more details.

Let me know if you need more specific help.

Hello Johan,

There are 2 ways to have SEO friendly menus with AllWebMenus. You can choose which one you prefer to implement.

Read these 3 pages and you will understand what you can do and what you would like to do:

Hi again,

If I’m creating this tab in the web tabs builder and then linking to it in my web page, what is the effect on SEO?  Is the content that I put into the tabs container available to the crawlers?  Ultimately I want the content to help my SEO ranking for that page so if it’s not available to the search engines I can’t use it.

If it is not available is there a way to use this tool so that the information IS available to search engines?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello again,

If you define the content within the application, then it may not be visible to most crawlers as they are not capable of parsing JavaScript files.

You do however have the option of keeping the content in your page using either the “UL/LI” or the “DIVs” population method.

With these methods you define the Tab control “look & feel” within the application, but you define the actual content in your page and it is visible to all crawlers and search engines.

For instructions on how to do this:

1) open your project

2) change the population method to “UL/LI” or “DIVs”

3) go to the “Sample Code” tab (F4)

4) check the “code that populates tabs” in the bottom to highlight the population code you need to add to your page

(you can simply copy-paste this to your page)
