Hi there,

i am using your allwebmenus sliding option. in this particular menu option i have chosen "remember the menu state...".

that's good, but what i need to do if i don't want to use this function e.g. when user is choosing back to main-page. at the moment when i call the main page within the project the sliding menu keeps open, but in this case id like to close it.

looking forward to hear from you.

thanks and regards
Eberhard

Dear Eberhard,

I guess that what you really want to use is the “automatic highlight” feature:

menu automatic highlight feature

This will always highlight the “current” menu item, regardless of the way you ended up in the current page.

Hi Kostas,

sorry for my late reply.

No this is not my problem. Pls have a look at the following draft webpage http://test.paradise-tour.de

When you choose e.g. Karibik at the side menu, the sliding menu is opening with submenu structure. When you choose here any destination the side menu keeps open. That's what I want.

BUT the idea is in the header menu when you choose Paradise; you will be re-rooted to the index-page. But then the side menu should be shown without the sub-menu.

Hope I could make it clear and hope you have a solution for me.

My understanding is, that you store in a cookie the last opened position. So if this is correct then I only need to delete this cookie when you choose the Paradise in header menu.

Let's see; looking forward receiving your answer.

Kind regards
Eberhard

Dear Eberhard,

There are two (automatic) ways to open a submenu:

1) Using the “auto-highlight” option, as I suggested in the previous email, the menu is matched with the page URL and opens (or closes) the correct submenu

2) For Sliding menus, using the “remember state” option will always open the menu in the state it was last open, irrespective of the page you are in.

I assume from what I saw that you currently have both options selected, while you don’t really want the second one.

In this case, you need to uncheck the “remember state” option:

Dear Mark,

I just tested your page and all the links seem to work in my case!

Which version of Firefox are you using? Can you send a screenshot of the “about” box of your Firefox?

Hi Kostas
15.0.1
Possibly its functionality on Firefox I have not enabled. We do have slow bandwidth. Possibly that's also a problem.
Thanks

Dear Mark,

I have the exact same version! This seems very weird.

The connection speed would not affect this and if you did not have JavaScript enabled, then you would not see the menu at all…

Do you maybe have any plugins installed in Firefox? If you do, it is possible that one of your plugins is somehow blocking the menu.

If this is the case, can you please verify by removing your plugins one by one until you find which one is causing the problem?

Initial Email Subject: menu error with Chrome
Support Case Month: August 2012

I have an error on one of the three menus on this page in Chrome.  It appears with the right side menu, though it's not necessarily in that menu's code.  Occasionally when mousing over the menu, a white box takes over 95% of the screen.  Annoying, right?  I can't duplicate the event in firefox or ie, so I assume it's to do with Chrome.  I'm using AWM 5.3 build 892

Can you please take a look?  Thanks!

Will

Dear Will,

It seems that this is a bug related to your flash background slideshow. It is possible that this is also related to the AllWebMenus opening effect. Can you please try changing (or even removing) the submenu opening effect to see if this corrects the problem?

Initial Email Subject: Problem in Joomla 2.5
Support Case Month: August 2012

Hi Guys,

I am experiencing problems with AWM in Joomla 2.5.6.

1. I created the main Menu and Called it AllWebmenus:main It works fine as a main menu. The menu is set to display on all pages.

2. I created a side menu (vertical menu) in Joomla called training and selected it to display on all pages and added menu items to this. However, when I click on the side menu link the page opens but does not display the AWM main menu.

It is important to note that if I enable the Joomla main menu it does work properly.

What am I doing wrong? I cannot seem to find out.

Dear Brent,

I visited several pages using the top menu and noticed that you have different side menus. However, all of them seem to have bad links that lead to “page not found” errors, and the only exception is the first link of the “training” side menu, which points to a “component” page. This “component” page is the only page I found that did not have the top menu. So I assume that the problem is really with the Joomla left-side menus and not with AllWebMenus.

Please let me know if you have more information regarding this problem.

Hi Kostas,

Can you check on your side if the addition of aliases for the menu items are in fact picked up by AWM or not? If not, can you look into this please?

Much Appreciated.

Warm regards

Dear Brent,

I can have a look on this, but the problems I saw were not in AllWebMenus! They were on the other left-hand-side-menu you had…

Hi Kostas

Not to worry, I just found the problem. He assigned an internal url to an external url menu item type. I think the problem comes in when you activate the main menu and it still appears, but the AWM menu does not appear. The question is why does Joomla still show the main menu but AWM that is selected to show on ALL PAGES does not?

Warm Regards

Dear Brent,

I am afraid I do not really understand what the remaining problem is now.

Can you please explain in more detail and send me a URL to check?

Hi Kostas,

No problem. Consider the problem resolved. Thanks for the help. The problem was related to my client trying to insert an internal url in an external url menu item. I  created an article and changed the menu item to a single article and it works fine.

Have a great day further.

Warm Regards
