How do I get this feed to display properly in the latest Web Scroller Builder?

When I try it, I only get the title and no image (in the preview window).

Hello,

In this feed, the images are part of the content and the default is to display only the title.

To correct this you need to add the following:

RSS feed scroller

Note however that the images are pretty big, so you will need to change your Scroller accordingly in order for them to fit.

Let me know if you need more specific help with this, and if so, please export and send me your project file so that I see what you have done so far.

Kostas

Hi Kostas,

I am pleased with the scroller that’s currently on {URL REMOVED} but need to change it from internal assets to an external xml file.

I have looked through your help section but can’t find anything that gives me any information on how to construct the xml file.

As you will see the scroller is used by an Estate Agent, so, being currently based on internal assets I have to continually amend the individual details of the frequently changing properties. I would like to automate this process, so I would guess that an xml file is the way to go.

I could perhaps arrange for an xml file to be constructed from the property database that the Estate Agent uses. The problem is that I don’t know how to write the xml file so that the scroller will display the information correctly. If I could see an example of an xml file, perhaps one that would give us a scroller that looks like the current one on the website with just 2 or 3 properties, I can then see what we need to do.

Are you able to help?

Kind regards,
Alec

Dear Alec,

I believe the best way to go would be to use the “DIVs” population method:

populate slider items through DIV elements

This way you will have the actual content inside your page, which will enhance SEO, and you can still generate it dynamically from a database.

If you go to your current project, change it to “DIVs” and go to the Sample Code tab (F4) you will see exactly what you need to add into your page for this to work.

Let me know if you need any specific help with the implementation.

Best Regards,
Kostas

Hi Guys,I love your programs and with the 50% discount over Christmas they became affordable. Here is an observation for you, I use your scroller at the top of {URL REMOVED} and when i put this url into facebook the images are not seen, whereas the wow program I also use are.Which makes me think the search engines are not seeing these images.

Dear Colin,

This depends on whether you have the content in your pages (i.e. using the DIVs or UL/LI options) or if you are populating the items inside the scroller project.

If you populate the items within the scroller project, then indeed the content resides in the compiled JavaScript and hence may not be readable by crawlers that skip JavaScript. If you keep the content in your page, then all crawlers will be able to see it.

Initial Email Subject: Web Scroller does not show up on online webpage
Support Case Month: March 2013

Hello,

I am able to see the web scroller offline, as I build it, it works fine. I have purchased a license, activated it, and then recompiled it, and have uploaded all appropriate files to my host. I can see the web scroller tags in the source code on the page. It does not load. Can you help?

Thank you,
Mary

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Mary,

This happens because you have compiled your scroller project for “localhost”:

scroller compiled for localhost

If you purchased a 3-domain license, then you need to specify for which domain you are compiling each time.

Please go to the Compile Properties of your project and select the appropriate domain from the combo box:

scroller domain

If this combo box only shows “localhost” then you need to take a new Activation Code (don’t worry, this does not count towards your activation limit) in order to pass the online license info into your installation. You will need to do this again if you add more domains online.

As you can see from the attached image  I do have it compiled for the localhost AND the specific domain..{URL REMOVED}
The order in which I did things,
make sure it was to be compiled for localhost AND {URL REMOVED}
link to specific page in website
save
close program
open ftp
transfer all files from local to website.
I have done this numerous times and it still does not show up in the online website

Thanks, Mary

Dear Mary,

The process should be:

1) make sure the domain is correct

2) Compile (not Link)

3) upload

The Link is only required once in order to attach the Linking Code to the page. The Compile is required each time you change something in your project.

Hello,

All the things you asked can be changed in the Style Editor under the “Areas” section:

Style Editor Areas Properties

Here you can change the text or appearance of any area (top, bottom, left, right).
