Hello,

My name is Ravi. We bought the Likno Allwebmenus Software and it works excellent. I have created some menus for our website. In the following page http://acenseo.com/our%20partners.asp there is a menu with the list of partners. Initially, while creating the menu I have linked each tab to its respective partner page like Back to Partners work. But instead of redirecting to other pages the menu is prompting for a selection from the sub-menu. Is there any way it can actually redirect to the partners page and show the sub-menu for selection?

Please find the attached source file. Hope it helps.

Thanks in advance.

With Kind Regards,

Ravi

Dear Ravi,

I checked your site and saw the sliding menu. I assume that this is what you are talking about.

Please look for the following option and make sure that it is not checked:

menu link value settings

Dear Kostas,

The links are working now but the sub-menu is not showing up. Is there any way both can happen at the same time?

Dear Ravi,

Do you not see the submenus opening at all? Can you also try checking the “Remember the menu state” checkbox?

Support Case Month: June 2012

I have been building a vertical sliding menu with allwebmenupros... the problem I having is if you go to the page listed and click the support button on the left side menu it pulls down the menu below it but it should also be opening another page, right now it just opens its sub menu and the link to the page doesnt work.

I seem to have this problem whenever I try to open a web page and pull down a sub menu at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thx!

Ed

Hello Ed,

I did click there (and other links too) and I see that they open pages. They do not show a submenu. So, I do not see what you describe, unless you changes any setting meanwhile.

Also, did you try these options?

ignore the link value menu option

You can do any combination you like with them.

This is the related HELP TOPIC:

- Concerning the "Ignore the <Link> value of parent items" option:

This option is by default checked.

It is useful when you want to show a sliding submenu when clicking on its parent item, but this item has a page link on its Link property.

If you do not ignore the <Link> value, the "click" action will result in opening the new page (and therefore moving away from your current page).

If you wish to have this result (combining it with the "Remember the menu state" option), then uncheck this option.

Initial Email Subject:  adding drop down menu to website
Support Case Month: March 2012

Kostas,

Is there at all another way to link the menu to our website? I believe I am having the layout issue I mentioned in my previous email because our Navigation bar is located in the site design section. Then each page (i.e. index, Locations, etc.) has its own coding. So in theory since I had to add a body and head tag to the design section of the site..there could be (and is on our index.html) a second head and body tag within in that specific page’s coding.

Any thoughts?

Becky

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello Becky,

You should not have the menu-linking code on the "site design" section (page?) if this is actually a PART of the actual pages (i.e. index, Locations, etc.). You only need to have it at those actual pages, otherwise the menu-linking code will be duplicated inside the actual page and this will cause problems.

The problem you experience with the width is not related to the Linking Code position in any way. Don’t you see the same problem in the application preview?

If the menu appears fine in the preview, but not on your page, then the most likely cause is that you have some CSS that is affecting the menu. In this case I will need you to send me:

1) the Menu Project (using “File -> Export -> To ZIP”)

2) any CSS files that are attached to your page.

Kostas,

Thanks that did the trick! Did you have any thoughts on to if it’s possible to change the color of the Sub Menu Headers when they are links? They are showing up blue and purple (depending on if they have been visited) and are hard to read on the black background.

Cheers,

Becky

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Got it! The problem was caused by one of the CSS which affected the font size of your HTML menu items hence making your whole menu larger.

Specifically, the problem originates from the following rules in “slider/css/style.css”:

/* TYPOGRAPHY */

ul                                                                                  { list-style: square inside; }

a, a:visited {
               color: #ffffff;
               text-decoration:underline;
               font-weight:bold;
             }

a:hover, a:active { color: white; }

blockquote {
             padding: 0 20px;
             margin-left: 20px;
             border-left: 20px solid #ccc;
           }

These rules affect ALL <a> tags in your page (which is a tragic thing to do in a script!) including those of the menu. Please remove these rules to fix any problems.

I suggest that you also notify the slider guys to correct this or ask for an updated version of their slider if they already have done this.

Do I have to remove them? Or could I just rename them? Because I don’t want to mess up the slider.

Becky

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

You can change them to the following to make sure that they apply only within the slider:

/*  TYPOGRAPHY */

ul { list-style: square inside; }

#page-wrap a, #page-wrap a:visited {
                                     color: #ffffff;
                                     text-decoration:underline;
                                     font-weight:bold;
                                   }

#page-wrap a:hover, #page-wrap a:active { color: white; }

blockquote

I did this and it is still having a problem with the first drop down menu. It also caused the bottom of the slider to get increase in size so it no longer lines up with the bottom of the second box on the left hand column.

Becky

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

I checked your page again, and the only problem I see is that the slider thumbnails are showing over the submenus.

This is again because of an extreme CSS on their side (style.css again), and you can correct it by changing these two z-index values from 9999 to 999:

.photo-meta-data {
                  background: url(/slider/transpBlack.png);
                  padding: 10px;
                  height: 20px;

margin-top: -40px;
                  position: relative;
                  z-index: 9999;
                  color: white;
                 }

.photo-meta-data span { font-size: 12px; }

.cross-link {
             display: block;
             width: 62px;
             margin-top: -22px;

position: relative;
             padding-top: 3px;
             z-index: 9999;

}

The height of the submenu is bigger than the others because it has more items. It is bigger in the AllWebMenus preview too.

Kostas,

That worked. However the navigation bar is still not loading the entire width on the home page, there is an orange line (see now.png and anyotherPage.png). Also on the now.png you’ll see a yellow line, that is where the slider is now lining up after our changes..and on before.png…(my old screen shot) you’ll see where the slider  was lining up previously before we made any changes.

Thanks for all your help.

Becky.

Dear Becky,

I see that you are positioning the menu according to the “nav” element. Is it possible that this changes from page to page?

Why don’t you use “ctl00_bodyContent” instead? This seems to be the actual element your menu should be relative to.

Please try something like the following to see if it works in all cases:

menu position relative to element

October 26th, 2012AWM: Joomla menu issues

Support Case Month: October 2012

Hi I was wondering if there is a way to create just one menu for joomla, rather that create a menu for each tab. We have been having some server issues (that are getting fixed) and noticed the performance of sites with your joomla menus that are a different tabs are the slowest.

So just wondering if it is possible now to create just one menu for all my tabs as it was not when I first purchased your software.

This site is a joomla site and it is using one static menu that I update using your software.

{URL REMOVED}

And this site has multiple menus so the client can update their menus through joomla

Hello,

I am afraid I do not fully understand what the problem is. What do you mean by "different tabs"?

I checked your page and I do not see anything resembling tabs there...It is also not very clear when you say "is it possible now to create just one menu for all my tabs...". I even checked our past correspondence but I did not find anything about tabs.

Can you please clarify your question further?

Hey Guys, thanks, I could force the hand but auto should have worked.

There was also an issue with the Positioning Relative To An Element Or Image which seam to be corrected, however this really was not a big deal just move the image where you want it with css.

I have run into another issue with the mixed mode(I have looked for documentation on your web site) The problem is when it is compiling in mixed mode it is not attaching the dynamic menu to the correct header. I have attached a screenshot to show the desired structure of the menu so the joomla menu item can be added dynamically by the administrator.

If you go to

{URL REMOVED} you will see Sub Menu 1 and Sub Menu 2

But all the joomla menu is attached to Sub Menu 2.

The desired structure would be

Sub Menu 1 (Created With AllWebMenus) - With Sub Menu 1 (Joomla Generated)

Sub Menu 2 (Created With AllWebMenus) - With Sub Menu 2 (Joomla Generated)

If you could point me in the direction on how to solve this issue that would be great. Even if I have to create multiple menus that would be a satisfactory solution.

I do have a couple more questions but will send that in another email so not to get thing mixed up

Thanks
Mike

Dear Mike,

I am not sure I fully understand what you want to do.

Do you want some Joomla items to go under one submenu and some to go under another? If so, then you will indeed need separate menus, as all the "Dynamic" items have to be under a single menu item.

It would help me if you can show me what would be the structure of the FULL menu, having noted which items will come from Joomla and which will be static. For example:

(in the following structure the green items are dynamic)

Page1
Page2
Page3

Hi Kostas, so I have tried adding in multiple menus and what it does is when you upload and install a new menu it deletes the existing one

Is there a way to have multiple menus with out deleting any?

Thanks

Mike

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Mike,

You can have as many menus as you want in a page. The only requirement is that the menus have different compile names in the Project Properties:

Hi,

Please see the following email sent May 16/2011. Is there now anyway to make all the single menus within the navigation bar as one complete navigation menu with the flyouts and have it updatable through Joomla?

Thank you

Mike

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Mike,

The only way to do this is if your menu is fully populated in Joomla. You cannot do this if you want extra items defined in AllWebMenus or if you want each main menu item to have customized styling (e.g. with different background).

If on the other hand you create a Joomla menu with the full structure your menu should have, and if your menu only uses the Style Editor values for its appearance (with no customizations under the Menu Editor) then this will work fine and you can have everything in a single menu.
