Hey guys:

I'm working in a simple horizontal menu that will have the following five menu items with no submenus

They are:

Home  About Us  Products  Liquor  Contact Us

I would like them to be all spaced the same distance, meaning I would like the About Us item to appear 10 pixels after the 'e' in Home, and the Products item to appear 10 pixels after the 's' in About Us ... &c

However when I set it up, it looks like this:

Home     About Us  Products     Liquor   Contact Us    (Note the spacing)

It seems the size of each item is being driven by the largest text as apposed to each individual text.

How do I get the menu to have each item only as wide as the text in it plus a set spacing?

Thanks

Mike

Hello Mike,

Please, click on Menu Type and uncheck the "Uniform Items" property. This is what makes the menu all the items to have the largest item width.

uniform menu items

Then, you need to re-compile your project and re-upload the produced files to your server.

If the above is not your case, please export and send me your project file, so that we can have a better look at the problem.

This is what you should do to export your project into a ZIP file and then email this ZIP to us.

Thank you.

I assume I am able to hide a menu item or menu group via external javascript function so I can display just the items/groups based on the web page.  Can you send me an example of how to do that?
Thank you.
Mike

Hello Mike,

First, thank you for your interest in our Likno products.

I believe that the Server-Side Menus API is what you are looking for:

Also click the "Example" link:

Thank you.
I don't have a need at the moment to build the menu dynamically.  I want to build a complete static menu but then hide parts of it depending on the page the user is on.  My hope is that there is a javascript call to hide an item or group by ID?

Hello Mike,

Another way to achieve what you want is to use the "UL/LI" population method (see below). In that case, you can hide/show any UL/LI items (menu submenus and items in other words) you wish. I believe this is the way to go:

UL LI menu structure code

I just update to version/build 894. My menu shows on the index page but after that it has disappeared. I understand that there is some problem with IE9 but I was hoping that this latest build would solve that.
Can you let me know what I did wrong.
Thanks in advance

Hello,

I checked your page and noticed that the menu is indeed visible in the home page but not in some inner pages that reside in subfolders.

The problem is created by your Linking Code which has a path relative to the page. For example in the following page:

http://www.kawartha.skipatrol.ca/2009KZ/Safety.php3

the Linking Code is:

<script charset="UTF-8" src="2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Which translates to:

http://www.kawartha.skipatrol.ca/2009KZ/2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js

(note the duplicate folder)

To fix this, you need to make the Linking Code path either full-path or root-relative (both work).

Full path:

<script charset="UTF-8" src="http://www.kawartha.skipatrol.ca/2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Root-relative path:

<script charset="UTF-8" src="/2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Is there a method to break a main menu into sub menus.  Like an “Include” Statement.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

I am afraid this is not possible with a standard menu. This could work only if you use the UL/LI structure, in which case you can store the UL/LI structure (or part of it) in a separate include file.

Support Case Month: July 2012

Hello,

My name is Ravi. We bought the Likno Allwebmenus Software and it works excellent. I have created some menus for our website. In the following page http://acenseo.com/our%20partners.asp there is a menu with the list of partners. Initially, while creating the menu I have linked each tab to its respective partner page like Back to Partners work. But instead of redirecting to other pages the menu is prompting for a selection from the sub-menu. Is there any way it can actually redirect to the partners page and show the sub-menu for selection?

Please find the attached source file. Hope it helps.

Thanks in advance.

With Kind Regards,

Ravi

Dear Ravi,

I checked your site and saw the sliding menu. I assume that this is what you are talking about.

Please look for the following option and make sure that it is not checked:

menu link value settings

Dear Kostas,

The links are working now but the sub-menu is not showing up. Is there any way both can happen at the same time?

Dear Ravi,

Do you not see the submenus opening at all? Can you also try checking the “Remember the menu state” checkbox?
