I just update to version/build 894. My menu shows on the index page but after that it has disappeared. I understand that there is some problem with IE9 but I was hoping that this latest build would solve that.
Can you let me know what I did wrong.
Thanks in advance

Hello,

I checked your page and noticed that the menu is indeed visible in the home page but not in some inner pages that reside in subfolders.

The problem is created by your Linking Code which has a path relative to the page. For example in the following page:

http://www.kawartha.skipatrol.ca/2009KZ/Safety.php3

the Linking Code is:

<script charset="UTF-8" src="2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Which translates to:

http://www.kawartha.skipatrol.ca/2009KZ/2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js

(note the duplicate folder)

To fix this, you need to make the Linking Code path either full-path or root-relative (both work).

Full path:

<script charset="UTF-8" src="http://www.kawartha.skipatrol.ca/2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Root-relative path:

<script charset="UTF-8" src="/2009KZ/horizontal_submenus.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Is there a method to break a main menu into sub menus.  Like an “Include” Statement.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

I am afraid this is not possible with a standard menu. This could work only if you use the UL/LI structure, in which case you can store the UL/LI structure (or part of it) in a separate include file.

Support Case Month: July 2012

Hello,

My name is Ravi. We bought the Likno Allwebmenus Software and it works excellent. I have created some menus for our website. In the following page http://acenseo.com/our%20partners.asp there is a menu with the list of partners. Initially, while creating the menu I have linked each tab to its respective partner page like Back to Partners work. But instead of redirecting to other pages the menu is prompting for a selection from the sub-menu. Is there any way it can actually redirect to the partners page and show the sub-menu for selection?

Please find the attached source file. Hope it helps.

Thanks in advance.

With Kind Regards,

Ravi

Dear Ravi,

I checked your site and saw the sliding menu. I assume that this is what you are talking about.

Please look for the following option and make sure that it is not checked:

menu link value settings

Dear Kostas,

The links are working now but the sub-menu is not showing up. Is there any way both can happen at the same time?

Dear Ravi,

Do you not see the submenus opening at all? Can you also try checking the “Remember the menu state” checkbox?

I know it must be one of my settings, but can you tell me what I need to change at www.webs2impress.com/troy7/contracts/prime.html so that when I load the page, those submenus do not automatically display.  I DO  have it set to keep track of the url and highlight that.  Is that what is affecting it?

Thanks in advance.

Anna

Dear Anna,

Yes, the “highlight” is what is opening your submenus whenever the page loads. There is a special sub-choice to control this if you want the highlight with the submenus closed:

highlight submenu

Regarding the copying from one menu to another, currently this is only possible if you “Import” the whole second menu and then cut-out the parts you do not want.

As always, thank you so much.  As to the copying from one menu to another, I wouldn't be able to import and then delete; it would destroy what I have.  Maybe a feature to add to a future wishlist?

Anna

Dear Anna,

Why would it destroy what you have? The import would add everything under a single item, so it should be very easy to add a new item, import the second menu into that item, copy-paste what you want and then remove the item altogether.

In any case, we plan to release a new version (most likely within October) which will allow you to load multiple projects in the same AllWebMenus instance, so this will resolve the copy-paste issue too.

(your “wish” is already being developed for the past two weeks or so…)

(I own allwebmenus) Is there a way to close the menu on an iPad by clicking on the top level menu item? Do you have any unique iPad features? Thanks!

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

It depends on the type of menu you are using. For example if you have a sliding menu whose submenus open with a click, then you can also close the submenus by clicking on the parent item (provided of course that the parent item does not have a link - in that case it would just follow the link).

Note also that some of the iPad features were implemented in recent releases, so if you have an older version you may not have these features.

If you need a more specific answer, please tell me exactly what your use-case is (what the menu is like etc.) and which version of AllWebMenus you have.

Best Regards,
Kostas
