When you click on the Main top menu, the very first drop down menu level has a box to the left what is this how can I get rid of it.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello Steve,

I guess you mean the green boxes that you see in the screenshot below.

menu floating images

The most probable is that you use "Has header" property in submenu items. Please, select "No" in this property.

menu has header

If this is not the case,

Please export and send me your project file, so that we can have a better look at the problem.

This is what you should do to export your project into a ZIP file and then email this ZIP to us.

Thank you!

Support Case Month: August 2012

Hello Kostas,

Can you please look at the site: http://stbarnabas.ca and especially the menu on the left.

In Google Chrome it seems to jump away and goes far to far over on the left side. It should stay in it's position on the left banner.

This may be happening in other browsers as well; so it would be important to ensure both the top menu and left menu stay in it's position all the time.

Please advise how to fix.

Thank you so much,
Karen

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

This menu seems to be compiled with a *very* old version of AllWebMenus. This is the reason you see the problem in Chrome, and also the menu does not display at all in IE9.

Please recompile the menu with your current version and upload the compiled files (the “top_menu.js” file and “awmdata1” folder).

Kostas

Initial Email Subject: 2 Aesthetics Issues with Menu when Translated
Support Case Month: June 2012

One more quick round of questions if I may Kostas. I am building a new website using your menu which is being translated using the Google Translate Plugin. I cannot quite figure out how to perfect marrying the two together aesthetically and am hoping that maybe you can help.

#1) - If you translate it to Macedonian, you will notice that the link(s) which wrap to a 2nd line have a negative indent instead of staying in a straight line, and the link below it does not move down but rather stays crammed up. Is there some way that I can fix this?

menu wraps

#2)
- If you translate it to Vietnamese, you will notice that the first two top menu items overlap, instead of spacing out horizontally. It looks like there should be room for them to all fit with equal spacing in between them all. Is there some way that I can fix this?

menu items overlap

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide. I realize that this is really putting your menu to the test... but if anyone can fix it I know that you can. :)

Sincerely,
Anthony

Dear Anthony,

The problem is that Google Translate intervenes and changes the text after the menu is already measured and built.

I am afraid that there is no way to fix this! It is not possible for the menu to re-adjust itself as it does not even really know that some other script messed with its texts.

Google Translate can only work properly with DIVs that do not have a preset width/height, but it would be impossible to create such a complex component as our menu without giving it fixed width/height.

Sorry! Sad smile

Thank you for the clear explanation and that does make sense. That does lead me to one more question though. Even when NOT translated, if I make a sub menu item long enough to wrap, it hangs too far over to the left once it wraps (like the one below). Is there a setting to adjust so that it at least lines up in a straight line with the others?

submenu wraps

Anthony

This is something you will see if you use “Text Margin”. The same is not true for “Padding”. Both of these properties can be used to add some space on the left side of the text, but the “margin” will only add it to the first line, while the “padding” will work for the whole item.

Initial Email From:
Brent
Initial Email Subject: Problem in Joomla 2.5
Support Case Month: August 2012

Hi Guys,

I am experiencing problems with AWM in Joomla 2.5.6.

1. I created the main Menu and Called it AllWebmenus:main It works fine as a main menu. The menu is set to display on all pages.

2. I created a side menu (vertical menu) in Joomla called training and selected it to display on all pages and added menu items to this. However, when I click on the side menu link the page opens but does not display the AWM main menu.

It is important to note that if I enable the Joomla main menu it does work properly.

What am I doing wrong? I cannot seem to find out.

Dear Brent,

I visited several pages using the top menu and noticed that you have different side menus. However, all of them seem to have bad links that lead to “page not found” errors, and the only exception is the first link of the “training” side menu, which points to a “component” page. This “component” page is the only page I found that did not have the top menu. So I assume that the problem is really with the Joomla left-side menus and not with AllWebMenus.

Please let me know if you have more information regarding this problem.

Hi Kostas,

Can you check on your side if the addition of aliases for the menu items are in fact picked up by AWM or not? If not, can you look into this please?

Much Appreciated.

Warm regards

Dear Brent,

I can have a look on this, but the problems I saw were not in AllWebMenus! They were on the other left-hand-side-menu you had…

Hi Kostas

Not to worry, I just found the problem. He assigned an internal url to an external url menu item type. I think the problem comes in when you activate the main menu and it still appears, but the AWM menu does not appear. The question is why does Joomla still show the main menu but AWM that is selected to show on ALL PAGES does not?

Warm Regards

I am afraid I do not really understand what the remaining problem is now.

Can you please explain in more detail and send me a URL to check?

Hi Kostas,

No problem. Consider the problem resolved. Thanks for the help. The problem was related to my client trying to insert an internal url in an external url menu item. I  created an article and changed the menu item to a single article and it works fine.

Have a great day further.

Warm Regards

Initial Email Subject: Why aren't shadows working in Internet Explorer
Support Case Month: October 2012

My menus (top menu bar) have a shadow in all browsers (chrome, firefox, etc.) EXCEPT any version of Internet explorer.

What do I do?

Related URL: http://www.mksinst.com

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

The drop-shadow (as well as the rounded borders etc.) are only supported by browsers that support CSS3. Hence they are not supported in IE8 or older. For IE9 or above you also need to have a proper DOCTYPE in your page, or else IE automatically goes into compatibility mode (and again does not support CSS3 features).

To fix the problem, please go to your pages and replace this:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >

<HTML>

With this:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

This should fix the problem.
