Through the Visible When feature you can specify the menu to show or not, based on rules that you set.

This is useful when you want your menu to appear (or not appear) in special cases.

Example:

You have 2 separate menu projects, one in English language (menu-en.js) and one in German language (menu-de.js), and your website is based on a CMS through which you link both menus to all pages.

You want the English menu to show on the English pages of the website (eg: http://www.mysite/en/page1.html) while the German one on the respective German pages (eg: http://www.mysite/de/page1.html).

This is how you can do this:

On the English menu project (menu-en.js) you set the following condition:

Menu Visible When English

On the German menu project (menu-de.js) you set the following condition:

Menu Visible When German

In that way only one of the two linked menus appear on the web page, depending on the page's language implied by the URL.

Note that you can also use regular expressions in the matching string.

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Drop Down Menu Trees, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email From:
Ernesto
Initial Email Subject: Manualy start Tree in a defined "Level" (branchid ?)
Support Case Month: May 2012

Hello from Switzerland,
I need a short help to open a existing tree in a defined first level.
I tested something like:

<script type="text/javascript">
treeid.selectBranch("myTree_0_0");
</script>

But, I'm not sure about if this is correct and also if my tree-Name is
correct. How can I check this.
Thanks for a short example.
Br, Ernesto

Dear Ernesto,

I will need to check your actual page in order to know what the exact code should be.

I tried following the link you sent, but I get a “server not found” error. Can you please send the correct URL for me to see?

Best Regards,
Kostas

Hello

hm, yes. but we need this in a login protected site, so maybe this is not possible to send a running link to you.
I will attach a testfile to you, using exact the same structure.
On this test page I have the same problems on my system.
The used stucture on my webserver for the whole tree is:
projectroot\assets\navigation\tree_it   ...so you have to change this.
Please note:
- a) We need possibility to open a page on a defined level for startup using different calls like:
      test.htm?id=it or something. On the attached testpage I have removed all this to test only the
      function to open the tree in a specific level.
      And additional, it must be showed opened and highlighted (both).
- b) I installed the whole project on a internal server named like "xxx" so for using it
      we use it for our project like http://xxx/it_projects
      So a next problem is, using this links I can show no tree.
      Using http://10.166.xxx.xxx/it_projects is running.

Thanks for your help.

Dear Ernesto,

Your tree compiled project name is “tree”, so this is the variable you need to use. What you need to do is to open the parent item of the item you want to highlight (if applicable), then highlight the item.

For example the following code:

setTimeout

Will produce this result:

drop down tree

Keep in mind that all numbering starts from “0”, so “1” is the second item.

Hello Kostas,

:) ups... yes now I see....

Thanks a lot.

Dear Ernesto,

Also note in my example that I have set everything to run half a second later (using “setTimeout”).

This is essential to ensure that the tree has had the time to load and construct itself.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Drop Down Menu Trees, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email From:
John
Initial Email Subject: Drop down menu trees question
Support Case Month: June 2012

Hi,

I'm evaluating the trial version of your Drop down menu trees program and when I create a new project and preview it, the selected leaves show as being selected in the preview, which is what I want.  However as soon as I begin customizing it by adding putting a value in the link field under the mouse click column that leaf no longer will show as being selected.  Am I missing something?  I'm ready to purchase a license for this however I do need to know I can have the currently selected page (leaf) showing as being selected.

Thanks,

John

Dear John,

I am afraid that there is currently no automatic way to re-select the “current” item in the tree. You can do this using the API if you want, but this would mean adding a given code in every page to select the desired item.

Is this something you consider critical for the application?

Kostas

My customers like this option Kostas, I often use a similar option in AllWebMenus  to indicate the active page.  I'm looking to upgrade an older tree application in one of my web sites (http://barnquilts.com) which does indicate the active page in the tree.

If you could tell me what it would involve to use the API and additional code that might work for me.  I'd really like to use your tree program, I love using the other Likno products I'm licensed to use.

Dear John,

Using the Tree API you can call the tree (using its “compiled name”) and then toggle and select the items you want.

For example if you add the following code to your page (right after the Linking Code):

<script type="text/javascript">

    setTimeout(function () {

        tree.toggleBranch("tree_1");

        tree.selectBranch("tree_1_0");

    }, 500);

</script>

This will unfold the second tree item (assuming it has a subtree) and select the first item of its subtree. Note that the numbering starts from 0.

menu structure

The above will work in a default new project.

If you change the compile name of your tree to “mytree”:

menu tree compile name

Then the above code should be:

<script type="text/javascript">

    setTimeout(function () {

        mytree.toggleBranch("mytree_1");

        mytree.selectBranch("mytree_1_0");

    }, 500);

</script>

Note that the 500ms delay is there to make sure that the tree had time to load before you try unfolding and highlighting it.

Let me know if you need more help on this.

Kostas
