Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,
If you refer to IE9, it is possible that you are using a very old version of AllWebMenus that did not support it.
Please send me the URL so that I can check your page and tell you what is wrong for sure.

Kostas

Hello

Hello again,

It appears that the menu on your website was compiled with an *old* version of AllWebMenus (see “release history” here: http://www.likno.com/whatsnew.html ).

You need to update/upgrade your AllWebMenus and re-compile/re-upload your menu files, as the *old* compiled menu cannot support the latest browsers and standards. Some browser versions did not even exist by that time (e.g. IE9 was officially released in March 2011 and Safari 5 in June 2011 and both have known issues with your AllWebMenus version which was released in April 2010).

How?

- Login to your Likno User Area at http://www.likno.com/userarea

- Click the "View/Manage Licenses and Plans":

view manage menu licenses

- See there if your Update Plan has expired or not.

If "expired" then click the "Renew" link and renew your Update Plan.

- Download the current Version (Build) ( http://www.likno.com/download.html ) and install it.

- In your Likno User Area, click the "Get Activation Code" link and get a new Activation Code for this updated installation:

get activation code

- Open your old project file (.awm) in AllWebMenus, re-compile it and then upload the new menu files (along with the "awmdata" folder) to your website.

Note that you may need to delete your browser’s Temporary Internet Files (or cache files) before refreshing the page in order to see the menu.

Thanks!

Kostas

Hello,

With your software, after the menu is done, can i see the code and use it in Dreamweaver?

Best regards

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

You can indeed use our menu system with Dreamweaver, and we even have a special extension to help you with that:

http://www.likno.com/wat_dreamweaver.html

Regarding “seeing the code”, the application generates some JavaScript files, but we do not recommend that you directly view or edit these, as changing the wrong thing may render the menu unusable.

Initial Email Subject: Cant see the allwebmenus in expression web design view
Support Case Month: September 2012

We used the allwebmenus for expression web 4 addin and we used the standalone allwebmenus also, but the menus created cannot be seen in the expression web vr4 design view. The menu can be seen in browser preview. Since it isn't visible in design view it is very difficult to work out the location and positioning for the menu. Your software docs indicate that we should be able to see the menus and work on them in expression web design. Please advise us to how we can get allwebmenus to be seen in the design view. The only reason we purchase your app was because it would integrate into expression web 4, if this was a false advertisement we will ask for a refund , however we sincerely hope you can assist us with our dilemma. Our plans were for several more licenses for our staff of web designers to use with expression web. At this point in time we are forced to write our js code and manually position in the pages.
In hopes that you will have a solution, i look forward to hearing from you. Also please advise us to what you need to validate our license, I can provide the order number the license number or whatever you may need.
Sincerely
Ron and Anita

Dear Ron & Anita,

This is definitely not false advertisement, but from reading your email I am afraid there has been a misunderstanding. In our online page (http://www.likno.com/microsoft-expression-web.html) we clearly state that the menu is only visible in the “SuperPreview” of Expression Web:

SuperPreview Expression Web

Did you read something different elsewhere? If so, please let us know so that we can correct any misleading text.

I am afraid that the standard Expression Web preview is not capable of displaying complex components, hence it cannot show our menu.

I understand how this can be a problem, so if you want a refund we will give it to you without further delays.

If however you want us to help you find a more productive way of positioning your menus we are glad to help! I am saying this because you say something about js code and manually positioning, which is probably a far more troublesome procedure than it should be.

For example did you know that you can position AllWebMenus relative to any image or other html element in your page? If for example you use tables in your design, you can easily attach the menu to a specific <td> (same with <divs> or anything else). This should be fairly easy to work with.

Anyway, the choice is yours. Let me know how you wish to proceed. Just please also tell me if in your opinion there was a misleading text somewhere in our site so that we can correct this.

Kostas

Hello again,

Continuing on my last email, I believe the biggest problem of the standard EW preview was that you did not see anything at all when you position the menu.

This has now been corrected, and when you position your menu you see a small <span> with the text “AWM”. In the SuperPreview you still see the full menu as it was before.

I hope this helps a bit more. Let me know of your thoughts on this. You can download the new plugin here:

Mac and iphone customers reporting that they are unable to view menu.  We are currently using 5.1; however, in the near future we will be using the latest upgrade (5.3.890) with Microsoft Expression 4 software.  Will we experience the same issue with the newer version?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

AllWebMenus v5.1 is pretty old and has some known issues with Safari 5. This is most likely the reason Mac and iPhone customers cannot see your menu (they both use Safari 5).

The latest version of AllWebMenus fully supports all the latest browsers and mobile devices, so you should not have any more problems after you upgrade to build 890 (or newer).

Support Case Month: March 2012

Hi – I’m creating a project and I am having a few issues (my project files are attached)…

1.) Last two tabs aren’t showing in Firefox

tabs firefox view

2.) The tabs are showing in IE, but the last tab is supposed to say “Methodology.” Instead it says “Quantifying Industry.”

tabs internet explorer view

3.) I would like to specify the tab height to 20px.  I’ve made the change in the style editor, but as you can see above the tabs are still to tall.  Is there another place where I should set the height?

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Nicole

Hello,

It seems that you have (at least) 5 cases where you forgot to close the opening quotes you used to define a class:

unclosed classes

This messes up your code and confuses the different browsers as to what they should show. Please correct this to resolve the problem.
