Bought a new computer with Win 8 I can't see the menu when I go to the webpage however I see it with laptop with Win 7 and other desktop with Vista Allwebmenus v4.2 build 664 is installed.

Hello Jeff,

It appears that the menu on your website was compiled with an *old* version of AllWebMenus (see “release history” here: http://www.likno.com/whatsnew.html ).

You need to update/upgrade your AllWebMenus and re-compile/re-upload your menu files, as the *old* compiled menu cannot support the latest browsers and standards. Some browser versions did not even exist by that time (e.g. IE9 was officially released in March 2011).

How?

- Login to your Likno User Area at http://www.likno.com/userarea

- Click the "View/Manage Licenses and Plans":

view and manage menu licenses

- See there if your Update Plan has expired or not.

If "expired" then click the "Renew" link and renew your Update Plan.

- Download the current Version (Build) ( http://www.likno.com/download.html ) and install it.

- In your Likno User Area, click the "Get Activation Code" link and get a new Activation Code for this updated installation:

get menu activation code

- Open your old project file (.awm) in AllWebMenus, re-compile it and then upload the new menu files (along with the "awmdata" folder) to your website.

Note that you may need to delete your browser’s Temporary Internet Files (or cache files) before refreshing the page in order to see the menu.

Thanks!

Do I need to rebuild or simply compile with the new software?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

You just need to open your existing projects, compile them with the new version and upload the new compiled files (“menu.js” and “awmdata” folder).

Thanks!

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

If you changed the windows you had installed, then it is possible that the Installation ID will change.

If it did, then you need to get a new Activation Code from your User Area account. Please login and get a new Activation Code now using your new Installation ID.

IE8 Error

IE8 Blank

IE9 Blank

Safari Works.

Reply From: Barry

You are correct I removed that and the menus show up.

However only on Safari the Roll Over works and the IE machines the mouse rollover does not work.

When I click I get the color change which is the same effect I set for roll over and click.

Oops, sorry, I checked with Firefox & Chrome...

Indeed there is a problem in IE and it seems to be originating because of an open <script> in the header. Specifically this line:

<image001.png>

is not properly parsed (as the page is “html” and not “asp”), hence the tag remains open. If you remove (or fix) this line everything will work.

I believe you can also set your server to parse html files as if they were asp.

Dear Barry,

I just checked your site again and I do see the roll-over effect in all browsers:

Are you sure you still have this problem in IE? Did you delete your “Temporary Internet Files”?

its something specific on the two test boxes I have.

I tested in windows 8 metro and non metro on another box and it worked.

I cleared the history and cache etc.

Thanks,

Barry

Dear Barry,

Is it possible that you have changed a specific IE setting that affects this, however I could not possibly guess which one.

I believe the best chance in troubleshooting this is to compare the IE Settings registry from your test-box with that of a machine where it works.

There is a compatibility problem with Internet Explorer Version 10. I have version 10.0.9200.16384 and I am using Windows 8 64bit version.

This is how I see the menu in IE 10:

The menu has become crunched. Please examine my site in an older or different browser.

Please fix this issue and advise me.

Thank you,

Initial Email Subject: Error when attempting to export jpg/png/gif in Likno Web Button Maker
Support Case Month: October 2012

I am attempting to export a button graphic (jpg/png/gif) that I have created and continue to get the following error:

Error(LT:-14) while exporting file C:\\Users\\.....\\W.jpg

This error happens for each of the formats.  I have attempted to find information relating to this error on your site, to no avail.

I have just recently installed Windows 8 Pro as my OS and this is the first time I have attempted to export a graphic from LWBM so that may be the issue.  I don't have any problem saving the file in *.wbm format.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in resolving this issue,

Kirk

Dear Kirk,

Can you please confirm that you are trying to save in a folder where you have write privileges?

It is not uncommon for users in windows 7+ to mix-up the folders and try to write something into a different user where they do not have access rights.

For example the last user had an old user named “john”:

C:\Users\john\...

And the new user was “JohnD”:

C:\Users\JohnD\...

When trying to export in “john” from his new windows 7 system, it was not working because he was logged in as “JohnD”.

Hi,

It never occurred to me that when I installed Windows 8, my user directory name was changed and, obviously, I didn’t double check the file name path in the export window.

Thank you for your quick response,

Kirk
