Hello,

Please look at {URL REMOVED} using Internet Explorer 10. The menu looks as it’s intended and appears in AWM preview.

However, the menu expands horizontally to the right in Safari, Opera and Chrome. In Chrome and Safari, it also shifts down on the page.

Dear Chuck,

I checked your menu and I see that the letters in the main menu items are rendered a little bit differently in IE10 (possibly due to the IE “cleartype” feature) and it is somewhat smaller. Specifically, the “Photo Gallery” text is 74px in IE10 as opposed to 78px in the other browsers. This causes the specific menu item to be 4px wider, and since you have set all the menu items to be “uniform” all your menu items are now 4px wider, causing the menu to be 28px wider.

The best solution would probably be to remove the main menu item padding so that the menu is smaller in all browsers, then set the menu minimum width to 953px.

The IE10 rendering matches the preview in AWM. The only browser that does.

Shouldn’t there be an adjustment in AWM so a workaround like this isn’t needed? I made a couple of changes and it’s better now.
The font size difference is one thing. But the menu also shifts downward in Chrome and Safari.

Dear Chuck,

The IE10 matches the preview, exactly because the standard IE component is used for the preview browser.

Regarding the height of the menu, this is also due to the difference in the font rendering. I assume that this is what you mean by “shifts downwards”.

I am afraid that there is no way for us to automatically adjust the menu to accommodate for this font difference. If you set a minimum width/height to the menu, then the required padding can be auto-calculated.

On the other hand if you set a specific padding, then it would be wrong for us to change this padding (even if we could) in order to make the menu have the same width between browsers.
