Menu sometimes has gaps and distorted render on the right hand side.

Happens when you increase or decrease the view in the browser, happens in all browsers, Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari

Hello,

I assume that you refer to the “zoom” feature of those browsers. I am afraid that this is not something we can control as it is strictly a browser issue.

We are aware of the fact that “zoom” in most browsers is not 100% accurate, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it nor any way to work around it.

The drop down Menu on this site also renders properly at all zooms and in all browsers.

I have tried several potential fixes but to no avail.

If you could give me a few suggestions that would be appreciated.

Dear Craig,

The menu you send me is a much simpler menu, and it still has issues with the zoom if the submenu is open when you zoom-out:

I guess if you use the “CSS” menu genre in AllWebMenus, where you are not allowed any customizations in the menu style and everything is based on a single UL/LI structure (as opposed to the complex floating div components used by the JavaScript menu) then the zoom should not affect the menu.

However with the JavaScript menu where everything is floating, even the smallest rounding error on the browser side can produce problems. I am afraid that there is nothing we can really do to work around this issue.

If you definitely need your menu to be zoom-able (and by deduction you need it to be generally more accessible) then you should use the CSS genre:

Hi Kostas

The menu on the golf club page below does this if you change the browser zoom while highlighting on of the drop down boxes or areas.

The menus which your software has produced do this  even when the zoom is not being adjusted.

So as I say got any workarounds or things I can try.

If I’d wanted an unordered list CSS menu I could easily have done that myself !

Dear Craig,

With the AllWebMenus CSS you still get to design your menu in the application, so it is not the same as hand-coding it. Anyway, I do understand the extra hassle of copy-pasting the UL/LI code into your pages every time you need to update the menu, so I understand why you would want the JavaScript menu instead.

I am afraid however that there is really nothing we can do regarding the zoom as it is solely up to the browser to do it properly, and each browser behaves differently with respect to their accuracy. For example IE9 seems to behave perfectly across all zoom levels, while Firefox is pretty bad in the first two steps of zoom-out only and Safari gets really bad after you zoom out three levels or more. If you zoom-out the golf page in Safari for example, you will see that the whole page starts breaking apart and not only the menu.

So again we are sorry for this but there is really nothing we can do about it.
