Hi again,

Question : is there a way to regenerate a menu’s  source file (ie. awm) from a ‘’js’’ file? I have the javascript file but don’t want to re-create the menu manually (all my hard drives were destroyed in the house fire and I’m trying to rebuild my dvlp environment)

Hello again,

I am afraid this cannot be done automatically...

However, there is a partial solution (you regain around 80% of your existing work), read here:

http://www.likno.com/blog/lost-allwebmenus-project/254/

OR

...read the same text here:

If you are one of the unfortunate cases that have lost the source file of your menu (i.e. the .awm file), we now come to the rescue!

Provided that you do have the compiled javascript menu file (menu.js) somewhere online or offline, we offer a "partial reconstruction" service to get the Menu Structure of your project into a new project file (.awm).

This is a manual process and costs $89, provided that the size of the menu is not too large.

Please contact us if you wish to use this service.

Important Note:

This service recreates manually only the Menu Structure (the tree structure of items and groups), NOT the Style Properties. After you receive the reconstructed project from us, you will have to re-specify the style properties yourself to make your menu look as before.

Depending on your menu appearance (if you use customized styles for specific items or just the global Style Editor styles) you will gain about 80% of your time compared to re-designing the entire menu from scratch.

I’m unable to open menus that were previously created in AllWebMenus in order to make changes.  However, the menus are still working on my school website.   What can I do to fix this problem?  Will I need to re-load the program?

Thanks for your help.

Vicki

Dear Vicki,

It seems that the file has been edited manually (probably by accident?) and there was a small part that was duplicated that caused the problem.

I am attaching a new file that works. Let me know if you need anything else.

As you can see I use the menu program as well as getting other schools to use it.

When we try to open the menu file in the program to edit before compiling it into the site, the computer locks up.

When I open the file you see I just get a line of text.  What am I supposed to do with that?

Wait… are you telling me that you cannot open the file I sent you? Your PC locks up when you open the specific file?

If so, then there is something else that is wrong. Can you please send me:

1) a screenshot of the “about box” of your AllWebMenus

2) the file I sent you, as it is after you opened it and it crashed your application

I can open the file you sent:

wrong menu file

But I get this:

menu file error

When we try to open it from here, we lock up:

This figures…

The file I sent you got blocked by your server, hence the informative text file you received instead!

I have now uploaded the file to our server so that you can directly download it. Please let me know once you have it so that I can remove it from the server.

Hello,

I am really hoping Kostas you can help me with this.

I would like to put a pull down menu with All Web Menus on the site (studio.fodphotosite.com)... From before, you said that the menu should work and work well.

The file which contains the menu right now is header.tpl - how exactly do I do this?

The site has been created with PhotoStore 4

Please get back to me and offer full details on how do this.

Thank you so much,

Karen

Dear Karen,

I visited your site and I saw that you already added the Menu Linking Code in the main page (but only there). However you did not upload the Compiled Menu Files!

Please try the following:

1) remove the Linking Code from the index page

2) add the Linking Code to the “header.tpl” – make sure the “src” has a root-relative path, so that it works in folders too (if you have any)

3) upload the menu compiled files to the correct position

Hi,

I just tried to install the Modal Windows Builder 3x, but it gives an alert:

file registration failed, the installation will be cancelled.

Now I have also un unregistered previous version suddenly.

Could you help met out please?

regards,

Erik

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Erik,

This is very weird and suggests that either some files were locked or you do not have write rights in this PC.

I suggest that you make a new installation attempt, but first make sure that nothing will be blocking it. Specifically you should:

1) Restart windows to make sure that no files are still locked by a windows process.

2) Make sure that no other applications are running, preferably even turn off the antivirus.

3) Make sure that the old installation is removed, manually deleting any remaining files under “C:\Program Files (x86)\Likno Web Modal Windows Builder”.

4) Install the application again.

5) If you still get an error, try running the installer “as Administrator”.

Is there a possibility to optimize/shrink/ .awm files?
Some menus are really large (487,6Kb)

kind regards

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

The “awm” file is the project file. You don’t need to upload that, nor it is used in the online menu. You just need it locally to change your menu in the future.

As such, there is no real “optimization” with regard to its size (half a Mb for your PC is really nothing, although online it would be a great deal)…

I suppose if you just need to store them you can zip them if you want, but I assume that your question was really based on the misunderstanding that this is used online.
