Actually 2 problems...
When viewing my website from the control panel of my hosting company, I can view my menu, but never can get it in the right place, no matter if I place it relative to the window, or relative to a fixed element on my site. It always shows up too far to the right. (I'm using IE)
Problem #2 (which you may be able to see) is that when I view my website normally on the internet, rather than by choosing a page from my control panel, the menu doesn't show up AT ALL.
This doesn't make sense. And I've already spent 3 days trouble shooting different solutions. PLEASE don't just point me to FAQ's or pages of the help menu. I have already been studying them. I also haven't found solutions on the forum. I have re-compiled & re-uploaded files in every configuration I can think of till I'm brain dead...
I'm using Site Spinner software by Virtual Mechanics to create my website. Are there issues with using your product with Site Spinner? I had to place the code below the body tag on my own because AllWebMenus doesn't seem to link with it. If I didn't have the code placed correctly, I don't think the menu would show up when I view my website from my host's control panel. Maybe I'm wrong. But I'm all out of ideas. Would appreciate assistance - not canned answers please.

Dear Pam,

I checked your page and there are several problems. First and foremost, you are using an extremely old version which has several known problems with some of the latest browsers (such as IE9 and Safari 5).

The second problem is that you have your menu Linking Code into a DIV which is using absolute positioning, and this can also affect the menu positioning. Ideally the menu Linking Code should be placed directly after the <body> tag and in any case should be a direct child of the <body> tag (not a child of another DIV element).

If you upgrade to the latest AllWebMenus, there is a Project Option specifically for this (Linking Code within page tags) that will correctly build and position your menu regardless of where the Linking Code is.

Both of these can cause the first problem (wrong positioning). I did not really understand however the nature of the second problem. When exactly does the menu not show? I tried viewing several pages in your site and the menu appeared at all times.

Kostas

Initial Email Subject: Changing positioning from "relative" to "fixed"
Support Case Month: December 2012

I am trying to change the position of my menu from "relative" to "fixed".  On my test page I have a header set with "fixed" position so that long pages will scroll underneath it.  I would also like to have the menu stay in place while the page scrolls.

I cannot, for the life of me, find the file that contains the css code to accomplish this.  What file do I want to edit?

Thank You,
Bruce

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Bruce,

What you want is to set the “menu floats on scroll” property:

menu floats on scroll settings

This will make sure that your menu never moves a pixel from its original positioning, and everything else will scroll beneath it.

Sorry, but that did not work.

But adding this change made it work.

menu position relative to window

Thanks for the prompt response and for putting me on track.

Dear Kostas

How do I make the ToolTip appearing at a fixed place “no matter where” I move on the target.

It seem the ToolTip position is relative to position of the anchor.

Thanks
Roy

Dear Roy,

I am a bit confused as to what you want to achieve. Can you please give me a real-life example? Did you want to mouse-over one element and have the tooltip appear over another element? Or do you just want the tooltip to not follow the mouse?

Kostas

Hello Roy,

You need to change your positioning settings with something like that (you have several capabilities for perfect positioning related to the element that triggers the tooltip):

tooltip positioning

Note that ALL your images (that trigger their own tooltip) will show their tooltip at THEIR OWN right side. Which means that the "ECO-ENVIRONMENT" tooltip will also try to appear at the right part of the page. I say "try" because through this option it will never go OUTSIDE the viewable page, so it will be pushed to the left (unless you uncheck the option):

keep the tooltip on screen settings

If this is OK with you, then the above solution is what you need.

There is another idea however, not implemented, where we could have ALL the tooltips appear at the SAME area, regardless of which IMAGE triggers their appearance.

For example, you could have this behavior:

tooltip behavior

I make a DRAFT of how the new feature could be implemented here:

tootip position options

We add a ComboBox there, with the following values:

Target:  [                ]

             the Trigger element
the Window        (not the Trigger element)
a page Element  (not the Trigger element)
an Image            (not the Trigger element)

With all the above options, the user can show the tooltip to other locations apart from "relative to the trigger element", practically anywhere in the page.

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Tabs Builder, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

I'm testing Tabs Builder to see if to purchase or not.  The one feature I'm interested in which I haven't been able to get to work with other tools doesn't appear to work in Tabs Builder either.

Is there something special I need to do to get the Height of the tabs to work with "auto" selected?  It appears its fixed at about 300 pixels.  I can set to fixed and changed pixels and that works.  Its just Auto that doesn't.

My test consists of copying the sample code as my main page and in the project tabs folder the Body Source is set to "External".  I think enter a html document in the page link.  The page resides in same directory as main page.  The page displays except the height of the tab doesn't expand automatically.

Also to test, I didn't dump files to web site, just compiled all in directory and used a browser to open the main file.  Not sure if this matters or not???

using FF 14.0.1

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

When the “source” type is set to “external” then you are actually showing a separate page into an iframe. It is not possible to automatically calculate the size of an external page, hence when you are using “external” and your size is set to “auto”, it is automatically translated to the default size (which is 300px). This is true for all our builders when it comes to “external” content.

If your external page does not contain any code (e.g. if it is plain HMTL and images), then you can try calling it as “Ajax”. This way it is possible to have “auto” size.

October 26th, 2012AWM: Joomla menu issues

Hi I was wondering if there is a way to create just one menu for joomla, rather that create a menu for each tab. We have been having some server issues (that are getting fixed) and noticed the performance of sites with your joomla menus that are a different tabs are the slowest.

So just wondering if it is possible now to create just one menu for all my tabs as it was not when I first purchased your software.

This site is a joomla site and it is using one static menu that I update using your software.

{URL REMOVED}

And this site has multiple menus so the client can update their menus through joomla

Hello,

I am afraid I do not fully understand what the problem is. What do you mean by "different tabs"?

I checked your page and I do not see anything resembling tabs there...It is also not very clear when you say "is it possible now to create just one menu for all my tabs...". I even checked our past correspondence but I did not find anything about tabs.

Can you please clarify your question further?

Hey Guys, thanks, I could force the hand but auto should have worked.

There was also an issue with the Positioning Relative To An Element Or Image which seam to be corrected, however this really was not a big deal just move the image where you want it with css.

I have run into another issue with the mixed mode(I have looked for documentation on your web site) The problem is when it is compiling in mixed mode it is not attaching the dynamic menu to the correct header. I have attached a screenshot to show the desired structure of the menu so the joomla menu item can be added dynamically by the administrator.

If you go to

{URL REMOVED} you will see Sub Menu 1 and Sub Menu 2

But all the joomla menu is attached to Sub Menu 2.

The desired structure would be

Sub Menu 1 (Created With AllWebMenus) - With Sub Menu 1 (Joomla Generated)

Sub Menu 2 (Created With AllWebMenus) - With Sub Menu 2 (Joomla Generated)

If you could point me in the direction on how to solve this issue that would be great. Even if I have to create multiple menus that would be a satisfactory solution.

I do have a couple more questions but will send that in another email so not to get thing mixed up

Thanks
Mike

Dear Mike,

I am not sure I fully understand what you want to do.

Do you want some Joomla items to go under one submenu and some to go under another? If so, then you will indeed need separate menus, as all the "Dynamic" items have to be under a single menu item.

It would help me if you can show me what would be the structure of the FULL menu, having noted which items will come from Joomla and which will be static. For example:

(in the following structure the green items are dynamic)

Page2

Hi Kostas, so I have tried adding in multiple menus and what it does is when you upload and install a new menu it deletes the existing one

Is there a way to have multiple menus with out deleting any?

Thanks

Mike

Dear Mike,

You can have as many menus as you want in a page. The only requirement is that the menus have different compile names in the Project Properties:

Hi,

Please see the following email sent May 16/2011. Is there now anyway to make all the single menus within the navigation bar as one complete navigation menu with the flyouts and have it updatable through Joomla?

Thank you

Mike

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Mike,

The only way to do this is if your menu is fully populated in Joomla. You cannot do this if you want extra items defined in AllWebMenus or if you want each main menu item to have customized styling (e.g. with different background).

If on the other hand you create a Joomla menu with the full structure your menu should have, and if your menu only uses the Style Editor values for its appearance (with no customizations under the Menu Editor) then this will work fine and you can have everything in a single menu.
