Hi Kostas,

One of my clients has brought up an interesting problem with AWM and Joomla pages.

If you look at the example below you will see that active menu items are highlighted in yellow on this menu.

menu button highlight

However, when the page is split into three pages then the highlighted menu item does not work. (See below)

menu button highlight does not work

What would it cost me to have this built in to the AWM menu system?

Warm regards

Brent

Support Case Month: July 2012

I'm creating a new Drupal website with a horizontal menu and 1 line horizontal submenu (look at "Kunden" or "Konatkt").

My problem:
The submenu disappears when I click an item of the submenu! The submenu should only disappear when I click a new main item (I set STICKY SUBMENU and I unchecked "clicks somewhere on page" and "hovers over another item in the same group").

Thank you for your support

Many Regards

Josef

Dear Josef,

This happens because each time you click on a menu item you load a new page (and the menu is rebuilt from scratch).

What you want to do, is to use the automatic highlight of the current page which will also open the submenu in which the page link resides:

automatic highlight menu settings

Dear Kostas,

thank you very much - this option was already checked. Now I tried the website under SAFARI, CHROME and IE and everything works as designed. Under FIREFOX the submenu disappears (the browser cache was cleared). Is this a browser problem?!

Again thank you very much for your answer

Josef

Dear Josef,

I just checked your page with Firefox and I see that the menu works fine.

Do you still not see the submenu in your Firefox? Would you please try deleting the cache files again and then press Ctrl+F5 to fully refresh the page?

January 15th, 2013AWM: Auto highlight menu items

Hi,

I’m thinking of buying your menu building software.

Can your software build a horizontal menu like the one on this website http://www.navigata.ca ? I also need the vertical menu from that site as well but it might be tricky because when you use the horizontal menu and select an item it goes to a page which also displays the vertical menu on the left but the menu on the left already has the position selected where you are on that page which is great but think it might be hard to do. How would the menu on the left know to already highlight/choose where you are when you didn’t select it from that left menu – you selected it from the top horizontal menu?

Can this be done with your software and what extra “add ons” would I have to buy to make this work?

Thanks,
Daryl

Hello Daryl,

First, thank you for your interest in our Likno products.

This is supported in AllWebMenus without too much effort. All you have to do is to use this AllWebMenus feature in the vertical menu:

auto highlight menu item

Then, the vertical menu will have the item that matches the URL of the loaded page as "Selected", no matter which link (or menu item) made this page load!

Hi Aris,

Thank you for responding so quickly – I appreciate that. Is pretty slick how you make that work! Very smart.

I faced another problem

I want to keep the menu open in my put with hover color

The problem is in this print screen notice that I opened the page Glass – CAt 1 under GLASS

menu preview

I want it to be like

menu highlighted preview

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello again,

I believe the easiest way to achieve this is to simply enable the “Automatic Highlight” based on the URL:

Initial Email Subject: Advanced floating menu
Support Case Month: October 2012

Hi,

Just started to use AllWebmenu. Most things works just fine.

Now one thing before I can deploy this site......

I started with 'sliding menu' with my own buttons.

I enabled 'Auto highlight item'

I enabled 'Constant floating'

It worked fine and I saw that I could finetune the floating behaviour with 'Advanced floating menu' so I bought it yesterday.

It was easy to get the floating behaviour that I wanted. I was happy.

But now did the auto highlight inside the submenu stop to work. I have verified a couple of times to remove advanced floating, then the auto highlight works. Enable it and it stops.

Funny thing is if I press the same submenu twice then it works.

Please try second button 'Om Hälsokällan' and then one of the sub buttons. One time and a second time.

I was almost done and superimpresed. I hope you can get me back there again.

Lars

Dear Lars,

It seems that there is some small bug in this combination and while both the menu and submenu item get highlighted, the submenu does not automatically open.

I will forward this to our developers and I assure you that we will resolve it and upload a new fix within next week.

We are really sorry for this and hope it is not too much of a problem!

Hi Kostas,

Sounds good. How will I know when the fix is available ?

Can I find it in the download-section ? ( when it is finished of course )

Lars

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Lars,

I will let you know as soon as I have a response from our developers. I expect this on Monday.

I will also send you an email to inform you as soon as the fix is online.

Once this is online, you will just need to download the latest AllWebMenus version from our site and install on top of our existing installation.

Hi Kostas,

I got the message of the new version 898 and was happy that my problem should be solved.

But it is not. It is still the same.

What happened.... Is my problem forgotten.

Do you need more information or is the bug documented ?

Lars

Dear Lars,

Your fix was not ready in that release. I told you I would email you as soon as it is ready. As a matter of fact it proved to be pretty complex, but our developers are working on it and I expect the fix to be ready later today.

Again, I will email you personally as soon as the fix is online.
