I am designing a new website and the Menu works fine in IE 8 and Firefox....but won' t show anything in IE 9.  Is this a bug or I don't have something configured in my browser (ie 9) right ?
I am not a paid support customer, so I will understand if you don't want to respond to me.

Thanks,
Paul

Dear Paul,

The problem is that you are using a very old AllWebMenus version that did not support IE9 (or IE10) as it was released years before IE9 case to existence.

The solution to this is to update your license and recompile your menus with a newer AllWebMenus version.

I've generated a menu using the latest version and update of AllWebMenus in the website {URL REMOVED}.  However, the menu does not seem to display in IE8.  All I see is a white, blank space at the top of the page, just above the collage of photos.
There is also a little "Error on page" icon at the bottom left, that when clicked, says "Object doesn't support this property or method" and refers to Line 10 in the awmlib1.js file.
It seems to work fine in all other browsers, however, there seems to be a few people who are friends with the owner of the website who are using IE8 and can't see the menu.  Any ideas how to resolve this issue?
Thank you

Hello,

The problem is caused by your Positioning Code. Specifically it seems that you have given the same id (“awmAnchor-menu”) to two elements in your page.

This is considered invalid HTML as the id of each HTML element must be unique. Most browsers correct this by keeping only the first instance, however IE prefers to just ignore all instances, hence the menu does not find the Positioning Element to attach to.

Please correct this by removing the duplicate ID.

Hello Martin,

Indeed this was a bug and we have now just solved it.

Please close AllWebMenus, export the attached "awmlib.dat" file inside its installation folder to REPLACE your existing one and then re-open AllWebMenus.

Re-compile and re-upload all related files (no re-linking is needed) and check again, it should work fine now.

But Firefox is now working perfect

Yes, I know… the developer told me afterwards that he didn't realize the Chrome problem, he will look at it tomorrow and will fix it.

Hello,

It seems that your page has multiple positioning elements with the same ID:

multiple positioning elements in a page

This is actually considered invalid HTML and although most browsers can ignore it (by keeping only the first occurrence) the infamous Internet Explorer just gives out an error and does not work at all…

Please make sure that you only have a single positioning element in your page.

I am attempting to test a menu. I have it successfully displaying at this URL http://www.ok-safe.com/files/documents/1/OK-SAFE-Researchers-Summit.html , however, it does not display properly at this URL http://www.ok-safe.com/New-Urbanism-Randy-Bright.htm . I am unable to determine why. Please advise possible reasons.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

I am not sure which menu you are talking about… In the “OK-SAFE” page you have two menus, while in the “New-Urbanism” page you only have one.

The menu you do have, seems to be working fine:

menu display

For the second menu, the problem is that you never linked the menu to the page.

menu is not displayed properly

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Ken,

I see that you are viewing the site in IE (most likely IE8). I viewed the site in Firefox.

I tried with IE and I see the problem too.

Would you please try downloading the latest AllWebMenus version and compiling your menus with it?

Let me know so that I can check again.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Ken,

I believe the problem is caused by the fact that you have inserted the Linking Code in the middle of the page (by also adding extra <body></body> tags, which is considered invalid HTML).

Please move the Linking Code directly under the original <body> tag.

If this is not possible, then please check the following option in the Project Properties:

menu within tags

(note that this may cause your menu to appear a bit slower)
