Initial Email Subject: Problem with menu running IE9
Support Case Month: October 2012

Hi

When running my webpage on IE9 the menu items look strange, i.e. when the menu item consist of more words my menu is showing each word as a new line and not, just as I want it, a single line.

When running Firefox or Chrome the menu items show up in the right way.

Thank you for your help on this matter.

Best regards

Finn

Dear Finn,

After having another look at your menu & page I realized that the problem is in the page.

It seems that your page does not have a proper DOCTYPE and this causes IE to go into the so called “quirks mode” which is essentially IE5.5 Compatibility Mode.

Please try replacing this:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

<html>

With the correct HTML4 Transitional DOCTYPE:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Or with the HTML5 DOCTYPE which is much simpler:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

Kostas

Initial Email Subject: Advanced floating menu
Support Case Month: October 2012

Hi,

Just started to use AllWebmenu. Most things works just fine.

Now one thing before I can deploy this site......

I started with 'sliding menu' with my own buttons.

I enabled 'Auto highlight item'

I enabled 'Constant floating'

It worked fine and I saw that I could finetune the floating behaviour with 'Advanced floating menu' so I bought it yesterday.

It was easy to get the floating behaviour that I wanted. I was happy.

But now did the auto highlight inside the submenu stop to work. I have verified a couple of times to remove advanced floating, then the auto highlight works. Enable it and it stops.

Funny thing is if I press the same submenu twice then it works.

Please try second button 'Om Hälsokällan' and then one of the sub buttons. One time and a second time.

I was almost done and superimpresed. I hope you can get me back there again.

Lars

Dear Lars,

It seems that there is some small bug in this combination and while both the menu and submenu item get highlighted, the submenu does not automatically open.

I will forward this to our developers and I assure you that we will resolve it and upload a new fix within next week.

We are really sorry for this and hope it is not too much of a problem!

Hi Kostas,

Sounds good. How will I know when the fix is available ?

Can I find it in the download-section ? ( when it is finished of course )

Lars

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Lars,

I will let you know as soon as I have a response from our developers. I expect this on Monday.

I will also send you an email to inform you as soon as the fix is online.

Once this is online, you will just need to download the latest AllWebMenus version from our site and install on top of our existing installation.

Hi Kostas,

I got the message of the new version 898 and was happy that my problem should be solved.

But it is not. It is still the same.

What happened.... Is my problem forgotten.

Do you need more information or is the bug documented ?

Lars

Dear Lars,

Your fix was not ready in that release. I told you I would email you as soon as it is ready. As a matter of fact it proved to be pretty complex, but our developers are working on it and I expect the fix to be ready later today.

Again, I will email you personally as soon as the fix is online.

I have a Horizontal, Single Row menu.  I can see where to adjust the Width but not the Height.  Can you get me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Bob

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello Bob,

You can adjust the Height on the "Item" level.

For example:

menu item minimum width and minimum height

Hi,

I have done some tests with Allwebmenu5 and am planning to purchase it.

One question before that:

Is it possible to show a menu with one menu choice already in selected state ?

I want to show which button was pressed to take us to this page.

Lars

Support Case Month: October 2012

I know it must be one of my settings, but can you tell me what I need to change at www.webs2impress.com/troy7/contracts/prime.html so that when I load the page, those submenus do not automatically display.  I DO  have it set to keep track of the url and highlight that.  Is that what is affecting it?

Thanks in advance.

Anna

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Anna,

Yes, the “highlight” is what is opening your submenus whenever the page loads. There is a special sub-choice to control this if you want the highlight with the submenus closed:

highlight submenu

Regarding the copying from one menu to another, currently this is only possible if you “Import” the whole second menu and then cut-out the parts you do not want.

import menu project

As always, thank you so much.  As to the copying from one menu to another, I wouldn't be able to import and then delete; it would destroy what I have.  Maybe a feature to add to a future wishlist?

Anna

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Anna,

Why would it destroy what you have? The import would add everything under a single item, so it should be very easy to add a new item, import the second menu into that item, copy-paste what you want and then remove the item altogether.

In any case, we plan to release a new version (most likely within October) which will allow you to load multiple projects in the same AllWebMenus instance, so this will resolve the copy-paste issue too.

(your “wish” is already being developed for the past two weeks or so…)
