Kostas,

I have another question. I didn’t see this as an option while building the menu but I wanted to know if it’s possible (And it is entirely possible that it is in the menu builder and I missed it). Is it possible to contain the sub menus within the width of the menu bar. So the menu items that are on the right hand side would no longer extend beyond the menu bar.

Thanks,

Becky

Dear Becky,

There is no “contain within width” option, but you can indeed achieve this with a bit of customization.

Specifically, you need to find the submenus that are floating off to the right side, and set them to be right-aligned with the parent group:

I can't figure out how to set the width for each drop down tab.  I am translating my menu bar and it is too wide

Hello,

From the appearance of your menu, I am guessing that the “Uniform Items” option is enabled in your project:

drop down menu options

This causes all the menu items to have the same size (that of the biggest item). Removing this will allow each item to have a different width.

My menus (top menu bar) have a shadow in all browsers (chrome, firefox, etc.) EXCEPT any version of Internet explorer.

What do I do?

Hello,

The drop-shadow (as well as the rounded borders etc.) are only supported by browsers that support CSS3. Hence they are not supported in IE8 or older. For IE9 or above you also need to have a proper DOCTYPE in your page, or else IE automatically goes into compatibility mode (and again does not support CSS3 features).

To fix the problem, please go to your pages and replace this:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >

<HTML>

With this:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

This should fix the problem.

Support Case Month: April 2012

I have been trying your trial version of AllWebMenus and have created a horizontal menu I really like. So, I purchased the program tonight. Since I could not actually compile the menu this is the first I was able to view the menu in an actual web page. My menu buttons have rounded corners. In IE9 all corners are square. In FireFox, Chrome and Opera the corners are round except for any menu button that has a sub menu. According to the program the radius should work in any of those browsers. Why doesn't it work?

Also, I want the menus to expand across an area of my web page. If I select Menubar in the Style Editor the menu starts in the right spot on the web page but expands all the way to the right edge of the browser rather that ending at the edge of the web page. If I don't select Menu bar then the menu does not extend to the right edge of the web page (that is expected). Is there something I am missing or is this the only way this menu will work?

I have included a link above to my web page on the Internet. For some reason the picture have stopped displaying, but you can see the menus OK. I checked this page with all browsers mentioned and I see the same issues there as I see locally.

I appreciate any advice and information you can give me.
Regards,
Donald

Dear Donald,

The problem with IE9 is that your page does not have a valid DOCTYPE. When a web-page does not have a valid DOCTYPE, then IE (any version) is treating it by default in compatibility mode for IE5.5! hence no CSS3 support and no rounded borders. To correct this, please change the first line in your page from:

<html>

To:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Regarding the items that have submenus, this is not something that should happen, and maybe it is due to some option in your project. Can you please export and send me your project (using the menu “File -> Export -> To ZIP”) so that I can further investigate this?

1. Are there any other colors than green? I like the design but need it in a blue.

2. Also My top menu bar seems to be cowarded and a white bar goes across , horizontally, when we add the Sliding menu.

Dear Bob,

1) well, you can change the color of these Theme images in a graphic editor.

2) Are you referring to this?

Chrome menu display

I only saw this in Chrome, but the problem is visible even when there is no menu linking code.

Hello again,

Regarding the menu colors, please note that the latest AllWebMenus version also has a new feature called “Background Sets” (you can access it from any “background image” property), which gives you more color options:

Also, please note that we can change the menu colors for you as a paid service. For this you will have to tell us exactly what color you want to achieve. Let me know if you require more details.
