Support Case Month: January 2014

Good morning!

I am responsible for a website (URL REMOVED) that was created for us using WordPress. The site is for the general public to find information on us.

Now we are wanting to add something new—a private section of pages that only our missionaries would access. I know I can hide the pages from the WordPress menu; I’ve done it for a couple pages already. But, is it possible to use an AWM menu on *just* the group of hidden pages? In other words, the general public would only see the WordPress menu for the public pages. Our missionaries, when they would come to the hidden pages, would see a separate AWM menu for just the hidden pages.

Is that possible?

I also support several other websites (see below in my signature) that I’ve created in NOF. I use the NOF “hide from navigation” option to hide the main page, and that allows all the sub-pages below it to also be hidden, but have a menu. I don’t care for the clunkiness of the NOF menus; would AWM allow me to do what I want?

Thanks for your help!
Neil

Hello User,

Hmm…one idea would be to have 2 menus on your WP site so you can select 2 menus in AWM WP plugin, one that will be for the public areas and one for the admins.

You can set the menu positioning method to "Theme menu location" for example on your AWM WP plugin settings and then you can edit the file that should contain your menu, most probably the header.php file of your template. You could check if a user is logged in then serve the menu that is for logged in users if not then serve the public menu.

You may want to see more info on how to check If a user a logged in:  http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_user_logged_inWatch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

Please, let me know how that could work for you.

Thank you.

If you look closely at this page the menu is very simple, but there are two menus one on top of the other.

In Net Objects 13 I cannot see both only one, and am unable to figure out how to remove the errant one.

Thanks

Hello Andy,

You have several ways to do that:

1. In NOF you can just select the menu you do not want, right-click on it and then click "Delete AllWebMenus Component DEL"

delete menu in net objects fusion

2. Another way to delete the menu is to open your HTML pages in a Text Editor and delete the Linking Code for the menu that you don't want to appear.

remove menu linking code

3. Also, you could open in AllWebMenus the menu project you don't want to display and click on "Link", select the compiled .js file and then select the HTML pages you don't want the menu to appear and by clicking on the right arrows you move them to the right sidebar. Then, hit "Ctrl" key and you will notice that the "Link" button will alter to "Unlink", so having selected the HTML pages and clicking Unlink you will remove that menu from the pages.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Thanks but cannot do first one as only one menu showing in NOF and that’s correct one. I did put a menu in originally then moved page to diff location and menu disappeared but is still there, just cannot see it to remove.

Second one, yes but pain in backside if ever regenerate.

Third one, I don’t get unlink at all

Andy

Hello Andy,

Well, let's see the third solution.

In order to alter the "Link" button to "Unlink" when you are on the Link form and you have selected the HTML files you want to remove the menu, click Ctrl key and hold it and then you will see the Unlink Button. While you have Ctrl clicked, mouse click the Unlink button.

This way, the linking code for this menu project will be removed by the pages you selected.

Let me know how that worked for you.

Thank you!

Hello Aggelos

I am sending two emails this with three images and the zip of NOF, the second email will be the AWM chalklesspoolcuetip  site  4MB hope you receive it.

1.  How do you get the menu.js file on its own in a Temp File ?

As per your web page http://www.likno.com/fusion_instructions.html

You should have a menu already created and compiled with AllWebMenus somewhere in your hard drive (example: C:\temp\menu.js).

2.  The AWM path is (see image 1)

C:\Users\User\Documents\NetObjects Fusion 12.0\User Sites\Copy of chalklesspoolcuetip\Local Publish

3. NOF Publish settings:

C:\Users\User\Documents\NetObjects Fusion 12.0\User Sites\Copy of chalklesspoolcuetip\Local Publish\

Even though I have the menu on the chslklesspoolcuetip page IT WONT LINK "(img2)

4. In the AllWebMenus Componnt Properties the path shows (see image)

C:\Users\User\Documents\NetObjects Fusion 12.0\User Sites\Camshafttools\Local Publish\(img1)

5.  The Camshafttools is the earlier site I was working on with Chuck all the settings are correct but the old site CAMSHAFTTOOLS keeps appearing. ???

I am sending you the NOF zip and The AWM.

Hello Tony,

1. This means that you have previously compiled your menu project using AllWebMenus Pro. First, you create your menu on AllWebMenus Pro and you compile it in your desired folder, let's say C:\Temp. After you have compiled your menu project you will have the menu.js (or whatever name you have given to your compiled project) and the awmdata folder containing the needed libraries. Then, when you are inserting the AllWebMenus menu in your NOF page, you will be asked to choose the menu.js project, so you browse and you find it in the C:\Temp (according to our example).

I guess you have copied a NOF project in which you had inserted your AllWebMenus menu and you have started working on this one. I would recommend you to delete the AllWebMenus menu that is already inserted, and insert it from the beginning so you specify the .js file again, thus the paths will be refreshed.

Let me know how that worked.

Thank you!

Hello Aggelos

Your explanation worked everything is ok.  Thank you.

I have a couple of queries and one suggestion.

Your tutorials are very good but it was missing one thing (in my opinion)

When you say: compile to C:Temp  but what you don’t say in the result in the temp folder

Will be 2 files….The awmdata and the .js  file.

When I am  inserting the AllWebMenus menu in my NOF page I was not asked  to choose the menu.js

In AWM Folders and files I just entered C:\Temp as the site root folder.   I then compiled and that’s when the two files appeared in the temp folder   (The awmdata and the .js  file.)

When I did a Local Publish in NOF 12  my .js file was there  I had previously deleted all files in the Local Publish.

But left the awmdata I was not sure if this file would also be placed in the Local Publish  so I deleted it and pasted the Awmdata file from the C:\Temp folder ? was that correct ?

Regards,
Tony

When I select the position for the menu with the  X   nothing happens however when I do a local publish the home page displays nothing where the menu should be but the other 6 pages have an orange bar the size and position of where the menu should be BUT NO MENU.
I have trouble finding the appropriate help pages from your site, I would be grateful for a little help besides pointing me to a help page.

Hello Tony,

The general steps to insert an AllWebMenus menu in NOF are:

While you are in Page Design View, You click on Insert AllWebMenus menu from the Components Section. Then you click in the page and you create a place for the menu. A dialog box appears in which you select the menu.js file you want. This will create the place and will have the menu you want to use. After you finish publish your site.

After you have published your site, go to AllWebMenus and Click on Link Menu. Then Select your Publish Folder and select the pages you want your menu to be linked. Select them all and click on link.

Now, the menu should appear in the pages you have specified.

Let me know if you need more information.
