Initial Email Subject: Pro v5.3.898.1 - high CPU usage
Support Case Month: October 2012
Hi, I have spent hours trying to find what is causing a high CPU usage in IE8, and found that it was your AWM Pro v5.3.898.1 and Pro v5.3.898.2.
I have reinstalled 12 - Pro v5.3.894 and now the CPU usage has dropped from 75% to 0% idle.
Just thought you may like to know, as I bet this issue is scaring other people who are probably blaming IE.
Cheers,
Mac

Dear Mac,
This is pretty serious! It is possible that we missed some timer or something else is causing this… did you verify this with a specific menu?
Can you please export and send us your menu for further testing?

Also please state which version of IE you are using and under which Windows version.
Finally, please send us the URL of your page as it may be that a conflict with another script in your page is causing this.
Thank you very much for your feedback and cooperation in resolving this issue!
Regards,
Kostas

Hi Kostas,
Thank you for responding.
The CPU usage was hovering between 25% to 35% with each tab open, so the fan was running a lot with the two particular websites open plus other tabs, i.e. 50% to 75%. Now with an older AWM installed etc, the CPU is nearly '0' with DW8, Outlook Express, Explorer, iTunes playing, Paint Shop Pro running, IE8 with 4-5 tabs open, erstwhile the computer is backing itself up to Time Machine.
I am running IE8 in XP Pro on Parallels 8, on a MBP i7 with Mountain Lion. It affected these web sites:
I was running Parallels 7 up until yesterday, and it was the same high CPU usage with both.
I tried the two web sites in Firefox and Safari in XP Pro and no CPU issues. Also tried Firefox and Safari on MBP with Mountain Lion and no high CPU, all normal.
The conflict was definitely when AWM Pro v5.3.898.1 and Pro v5.3.898.2 was installed and was just affecting IE8. Maybe it will affect other IEs, I do not know.
I have attached the Zip file as requested, and hope I did it correctly. Please keep in mind that the projects have been saved with Pro v5.3.894, and uploaded, so both web sites are running okay again now. We had to act quickly so that we did not crash people's lower power computers.
I hope the above helps?
With kindest regards,
Mac

Hi Kostas,
You are most welcome.
It must be very difficult 'getting it right' with so many browsers, OS etc, phew!
With kindest regards,
Mac
