Support Case Month: October 2013

Hi,

I am using nested web tabs. 3 levels deep. The problem is: how do I go back one or more levels up. If I go back to the page where the tab I want to go to is on, it opens inside the current tab.

I presume web-tabs works with frames, but how do I make it go to the right tab.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Hans

Hello Hans,

Web Tabs work with iframes, you should use the target="_top" and target="_parent" to select the correct tab.

Thank you!

Initial Email Subject: link not working in sliding menu
Support Case Month: June 2012

I have been building a vertical sliding menu with allwebmenupros... the problem I having is if you go to the page listed and click the support button on the left side menu it pulls down the menu below it but it should also be opening another page, right now it just opens its sub menu and the link to the page doesnt work.

I seem to have this problem whenever I try to open a web page and pull down a sub menu at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thx!

Ed

Hello Ed,

I did click there (and other links too) and I see that they open pages. They do not show a submenu. So, I do not see what you describe, unless you changes any setting meanwhile.

Also, did you try these options?

ignore the link value menu option

You can do any combination you like with them.

This is the related HELP TOPIC:

- Concerning the "Ignore the <Link> value of parent items" option:

This option is by default checked.

It is useful when you want to show a sliding submenu when clicking on its parent item, but this item has a page link on its Link property.

If you do not ignore the <Link> value, the "click" action will result in opening the new page (and therefore moving away from your current page).

If you wish to have this result (combining it with the "Remember the menu state" option), then uncheck this option.

Initial Email Subject: Issue in iframe
Support Case Month: June 2012

Dear Customer Service:
I'm doing some test to use iframe in the webpage and some issue happened. The example is as follow:
There is an iframe named "iframe1" in main page PageA.htm and 2 buttons in the menu. When click button1, shows PageB in iframe1 and click button2, shows Page E in iframe1.
PageB contains another iframe named "iframe2" and another menu in PageB with button3 and button4. When click button3, shows PageC in iframe2 and click button4, shows PageD in iframe2.
When running PageB individually, everything works fine, but when I run Page A, it showed PageB in iframe1, but there is no response when I click button3 and button4. Please help me to solve the problem.
Sample files are in attachment, please kindly check.

Many thanks!

Shen

Dear Shen,

The problem is caused by the fact that this is an iframe within another iframe (and not a direct child of the main page).

The way to resolve this, is to add the full iframe path to the target, which in this case is “iframe1.iframe2”:

(Note of course that if you do this, then it will work for page A, but will not work when you are directly viewing page B as then the path “iframe1.iframe2” will be incorrect…)

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Modal Windows Builder, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Support Case Month: September 2012

I have unsuccessfully tried to create back button for when a window opens inside a Modal window.  Ideally, the back arrow only shows if there is a previous page within the same modal window.  If you follow my example, the modal window either shuts down or become inoperable.  Any ideas that I could us on all my modal windows.

link to open modal window

another link

link for modal window

Since the following is a new page in the same modal window clicking ”back” closes all modal windows and make future modal windows fail.  I found the code on the internet and it obviously does not work correctly.  I need it because some pages open inside the same modal window and sometimes a new modal window is opened.

back button in a modal window

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Bill,

This happens because the history does not hold JS events such as the opening of a modal window.

When you click on “back” the browser will try to go back in the history of the current (focused) frame/iframe and if this does not have any history then to the history of the parent frame or top page.

This is what happens in your case. When you open a new window with no history and hit “back” you get the history of the top window.

I am afraid that this is too complex for us to resolve and you will just have to wait until modern browsers support JS events in their history.

Finally, as a note, back() & forward() do not require a parameter, while go() does accept a parameter for the destination step relative to the current page. For example “history.go(-1)” is identical to “history.back()”.

November 29th, 2012Are your products "responsive"?

Hello Support:
Since the trend is to develop "responsive" web sites that will automatically resize itself depending on the media (iphone, ipad, etc.) used by customers, will AllWebMenu also resize itself to meet the different resolutions of the different media?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

We are actually in the process of creating Responsive Menus for AllWebMenus. The plan is to release this in the beginning of October.

The new feature will allow you to create different styles for your menu and specify when (for which resolutions) each style will be used.

If you want I can add your email to a notify list, so that you will be among the first to know about this once it is ready.

Hello Kostas:

Yes, please add me to the mailing list once it is ready. I really need them ASAP. Thanks for letting me know.

Will you be adding responsive features to the other likno products?

Pamela

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello again,

Well, most of our other products are already “responsive” in the sense that you can leave them at “auto” width.

What exactly did you have in mind, and for which product?

Hello Kostas:

I was thinking about the Web Accordion, Web Tabs and Web Scroller being responsive. Therefore, setting the width to "auto" will make these products responsive?

Pamela

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Pamela,

If you set the width to “auto” then the control (Accordion, Tab or Scroller) will take the full width of its parent element.

Hence if the parent element is responsive and has different width depending on the screen size, the control will also have a different width.

Note that not all controls can do this “run-time” (meaning they may need a refresh of the page to adjust their size instead of adjusting “live” while you resize your browser), but this is not a restriction for responsiveness as the iPad or any smaller screen will not change its size!
