Support Case Month: December 2012

I am trying to change the position of my menu from "relative" to "fixed".  On my test page I have a header set with "fixed" position so that long pages will scroll underneath it.  I would also like to have the menu stay in place while the page scrolls.

I cannot, for the life of me, find the file that contains the css code to accomplish this.  What file do I want to edit?

Thank You,
Bruce

Dear Bruce,

What you want is to set the “menu floats on scroll” property:

menu floats on scroll settings

This will make sure that your menu never moves a pixel from its original positioning, and everything else will scroll beneath it.

Sorry, but that did not work.

menu constant floating

But adding this change made it work.

menu position relative to window

Thanks for the prompt response and for putting me on track.

Support Case Month: April 2012

I have created a menu but can not figure out how to place it. I compiled the menu, uploaded the menu.js and folder and placed the script in the body of the page, but do not know how to place the menu in the table I created. If you are viewing the page, the menu will go in the table directly below the logo of the church.
Please help

Thanks
Richard

Dear Richard,

Please try the following:

1) Add an ID to your <td> where the menu should appear:

add ID to TD

And change it to:

<td id="awmAnchor-menu">&nbsp;</td>

2) Go to AllWebMenus Positioning and insert the following values:

menu positioning settings

This should give you exactly the same positioning your current menu has.

Hi Kostas,

The new v.5 is just a little different than the 2003 version I had. I’m not quite understanding the positioning to get the menu to fit on the web page where I want it. On the web page template, I have a column on the left side in which the menu is placed. However, it is offset to towards the middle of the page. How do I position it to be in the place I want it to be? Thank you for your help!

Thanks,
Roxanne

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Roxanne,

It seems that you have specifically set the menu to be have an offset relative to the positioning element:

menu position relative to element

Also, I see that your positioning code is very old and possibly not as accurate as it could be.

Please find the following in your page:

<td height="2">

<div align="center"> <style>.awmAnchor {position:relative}</style> <span id='awmAnchor-Northside' class='awmAnchor'></span></div></td>

And change it into this:

<td height="2" id='awmAnchor-Northside'>&nbsp;</td>

This will position your menu relative to the table cell with pixel-perfect accuracy.

Kostas

Hi again Kostas,

I changed the source code you suggested, but the positioning of the menu is still offset to the right in the table cell. Please let me know what I should do to get this menu centered within the table cell.

Did you also remove the offsets I showed you in the screenshot?

Also, considering that the table cell is smaller than the menu width, you may want to change your Positioning to the following values:

Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Modal Windows Builder, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Dear reader,

standard behavior of Modal Windows is to "break out" of the frame, as you call it.

How can I show it in the iFrame and limit it to the frame area only?

I did use relative to “a page element”, but then the close image appears in the center of the browser window (not at the right top corner of the Modal Window).

When I use the same code running local with Apache-PHP or on the domain changes the behavior of the Modal Window: on domain the setting: “appears relative to the browser window” does actually show within the iFrame!!

I understand what you write about iFrames in the help system under FAQ, but there is no actual difference I am aware of between the domain and local environment..

What to do?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Kind regards,
RuuRd

Dear Ruurd,

Actually, there is a big difference as far as browser security is concerned…

The “break out of frames” feature is always trying to run, but there are cases where this is not possible due to browser security restrictions. These depend on whether you are viewing local files or not, if all your frames come from the exact same domain and even on the browser you are using.

So you may see a Modal breaking out of frames online but not locally, or you may see it work in Firefox but not Opera (which is more strict).

Right now, the modal will always try to break out of frames. The easiest way to stop it, is probably to make your iframe come from a different domain. Note here, that “likno.com” and “www.likno.com” are considered different domains, so it may be as simple  as adding “www” in your iframe src.

If this does not work in your case, then please send me the URL to see what you’ve done. At the end, we may need to add an extra checkbox in the application so that you decide whether the feature should run or not, but since you are the first to ever ask for this we’d rather avoid it for now.

Kostas

Thank you for your quick reply Kostas,

For now I changed my PHP script to solve my issue with a relative URL:

{SCRIPT CODE REMOVED}

$url is used to prepare hyperlinks that create a iframe popups.

I think this is nasty and I would prefer  to escape the “break out of frames” feature in another way.

Would it be possible to toggle the feature with a parameter in the Javascript command that creates the Modal Window, like: Modal_Window_2(frames:{ relativeToFrame: true});

Thank you for your help in advance.

Kind regards,
RuuRd

Dear Ruurd,

I am afraid that this is not currently available. Nonetheless, we are about to release a new Modal version, so I will try to squeeze in this feature too.

I’ll let you know later today.

Thank you Kostas,

Hope you will make it to implement this “browser escape feature”  in some kind of way.

Take care.

Dear RuuRd,

Please download the latest Modal Windows here:

http://www.likno.com/jquery-modal-windows/download.php

Then, when calling the modal, pass the “dontBreakOutOfFrames: true” parameter. For example:

Modal_Window_2({dontBreakOutOfFrames: true});

Let me know if this works as expected.

How do I center the menu on the web page?

Related URL: http://www.eastpointha.org/home.cfm

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

If your website is always centered you could use this option:

menu position relative to window

OR:

menu position relative to element

OR:

menu position relative to image

You have plenty of options to choose from, the "Window" being the easiest one.
