Please go to  http://www.designsaroundyou.com/  and please do the following:

(1) Click on Privacy and Terms & Condition (at the bottom).

(2) Use the scroll bar to scroll to the bottom of the modal window and then scroll back up.

After doing this step 2, there are lines appearing within the modal window. This only happens in Google Chrome. Can you fix this?

Thank you.

Hello,

I just did what you said in Chrome but did not notice any lines, I see it perfectly OK:

Modal Window with scrollbar

Can you send me a screenshot of what you see in Chrome?

I have this Chrome version:

Google Chrome version

Then… wait! I managed to do this by updating my Chrome to version 21. I do see this:

Modal window with line problem

So, it seems that Chrome changed something that causes this problem.

Thanks for your reply. I look forward to your reply next week. Thank you again for checking into this problem.

Dear Pamela,

I performed several tests, and this is not a standard behavior. It seems that each time I scroll up and down, depending on the speed with which I do this I get different lines or no lines at all.

This is definitely a “refresh” bug of Chrome and I am afraid that we cannot do anything about it, as it affects all scrolled iframes and not only our Modal Window.

We will submit a bug report to Google regarding this issue, but I cannot guarantee on when they will fix this.

Thank you for your understanding.

The border is in the Modal Window CSS, and the scrollbar appears because your page does not fit in the modal!

Make the modal window larger or your inner page smaller (maybe remove the extra margins you have?).

Initial Email Subject: Modal windows no longer work as expected
Support Case Month: August 2012

Hello,

I had to install all of your software on to my new Win 7 64bit system during the last week.  I have only today started using it and have found a big problem.

Prior to moving to 64 bit the modal windows in the Absent Friends section worked perfectly (On the website) so I am pretty sure it’s something to do with the most recent build of modal windows. I have attached the project file. So, today I added a new person "Jock Forsyth" and compiled as usual and exported to the web site.
click to open the modal window
What is supposed to happen is: the user clicks a link which is on a page contained inside a frame. The modal window then appears in the expected place and all is well.

What happens now is: the modal window does not appear. Instead a new Tab appears containing the page that was in the frame on the original Tab. In this new tab all you get is the page that called the modal window. The modal window does not appear until you click the link in the new Tab. To see this happen please go here :  http://www.the-kellys.co.uk/narpo/absentfriends_web.html and then select "F" on the left hand side and then choose "Fitchet, Bernard" the modal window is called by clicking the "here" option as per the picture.
The modal project has not been altered EXCEPT for the addition of the Jock Forsyth part.  I have just spent the last hour on this and can’t see anything wrong!!

Best Wishes, John

Dear John,

I checked your site and found the error. It was a conflict between frames and a new feature we added for removing the scrollbar while the modal is open.

I have fixed this now and will upload a new Modal release later today. I’ll let you know as soon as this is online.

Initial Email Subject: IE9 browser vertical scrollbar stutters when moved and modal window is displayed - Opera does the same thing
Support Case Month: September 2012

Noticed strange behavior for Web Modal windows builder (latest version - but also on older versions) in IE9 and Opera (firefox, chrome, safari, and  are fine):
The vertical scroll bar in the modal window works fine to vertically scroll through content, but the browser vertical scroll bar "stutters" or behaves with "shaking" or jumping behavior.
http://www.tsgusa.com/professionals.htm - click on a person to open modal window content
Are there some settings I can tweak to get the vertical scrollbar to behave like it does in this lightbox script (modal window link is about halfway down page "try Me")?
In the case above the background page scrolls underneath the modal window when there is content?
Or is there someway to tell IE9 that the vertical scroll bar isn't necessary when modal window content is open?
Thanking you in advance for educating me about this particular issue.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

Due to the requests of several users in the past, our Modal Windows try to block the movement of the background while the modal window is open. This is achieved by resetting the scroll back to its original location every time the user moves it. Most recent browsers do this so fast that you do not ever see the scrollbar moving. IE and Opera however are slower and hence you see this “broken” movement.

Would you prefer for the background to scroll freely like in the lightbox you sent me? Or would you prefer that we completely block the scrollbar?

Let me know and I will forward your suggestion to our developers for further consideration.

I think blocking the scrollbar makes the most sense in that it appears to be the tactic taken by safari, chrome, etc.  The more browsers behave the same the better.

Hello,

I just uploaded build 250.2 which resolves this problem by hiding the scrollbars while the modal is open.

Please download and let me know if everything is ok:

Nicely fixed in Opera but for my IE9 the browser scroll bar isn't hidden. cleared cache three times, open/closed browser window but the IE9 vertical scrollbar still appears and stutters.

Thank you for your follow up after your vacation.  I, too, no longer see the vertical scrollbar shuttering issue.  Thank you for your prompt attention to this problem.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello again,

I am afraid that we already received some complaints from our users regarding the new feature you asked us to add, so we had to change it.

We have just released a new version of Modal Windows (build 250.4) which no longer removes the scrollbars by default and this is going to be the default behavior from now on.

Instead there is a new Project Property group named “Under the Hood” within which you can find an option to remove the scrollbars if this is the desired behavior.

Please download the new version and let us know if everything is ok.

http://www.likno.com/jquery-modal-windows/download.php

Note that if you simply compile your projects with a newer version without first checking this option, the scrollbars will not be removed

Would it be possible to add in Under the Hood the other option which is to have the back ground move with the scroll bar like in this example?  That way I could offer my clients all 3 options which would be perfect
scroll option.

Hello again,

The new release is online.

Now instead of a checkbox there is a combo, also allowing the “Don’t block page scroll or hide scrollbars” option.

Let me know if everything is ok.

Support Case Month: July 2012

Hi,

I am a registered user and I recently made a modal window with a content larger than the size of the window. And what I expected happens, a scrollbar at the right side.

Now I bought an iPad, the newest, and there, when I open my website and start the modal window it appears without the scrollbar.

Is that a known problem or do I do something wrong?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Regards,
Wim

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Wim,

Was the content an external page? We discovered that Apple recently decided on iPads to block scrollbars in iframes. This is a recent development with great opposition on the net as this move from Apple has no reason whatsoever.

This is something that we cannot work around if Apple decides to keep it this way. The only solution would be to edit your external page and give <body> a fixed height so that there is a scrollbar produced within that page. Still, this is not a closed issue, as we are still expecting a response from Apple.

Dear Kostas,

Thanks for your fast reply. And yes, it is an external page. That means I have to check if the user is using an iPad and then to offer him another way to look at the info on that external page.

By the way, How do you check for an iPad?

Thanks again for your answer.
