We are trying to find out if we can restrict a vertical sliding menu to a fixed height, and then either have a scroll bar or have the menu slide up and down within this fixed height.  Is there a way?

Darrell

Dear Darrell,

Yes, this can be changed in the Sub Group Type settings, under the “secondary options” pane:

sub group style sliding secondary options

sub group height

Hi - I can't find where to tell the sliding menu that it should slide down when a submenu opens and not to clamshell open. Can you point me in the right direction? I want the top to stay put.

Thanks very much!
John

Dear John,

First of all, in order to have the submenus “slide down” you need to choose the appropriate effect in the “Appears – How” property:

menu appear effects

Then regarding the top of the menu staying put, if you want this then you need to adjust your Positioning. Currently you have set the center of the menu to position to the page Element. Hence the menu will always try to keep it center there, hence both the top and bottom will move.

If you position the top side of the menu relative to your element then the top side will never move.

Dear Tomaz,

You need to set your menu to “float on scroll”:

menu floats on scroll

Hi.
THX for answer, but that is not what I am asking.
I would like menu to be on same position all the time, (like my grey background image with some text on the right side)
I do not want menu to drive up and down following when user is scrolling.
I want menu to be fixed for user, like the window menus of browser is.

kind regards
Tomaž

Dear Tomaz,

This is exactly what this option does! Did you try it at all?

It actually makes the menu stay put, relative to the browser window instead of relative to the page text.

On http://www.kamenaric.si/ left (blue) menu is as you told me.
It always come to relative position, but when scrolling page, it slides up/down and when stop scrolling it came to relative position again.
I do not want that moving effect like menu is on the rubber.

This is because in the “Movement Type” you did not use “Instant” as in my screenshot:

menu constant floating
