I was looking through your sample pages and noted that it is possible to open a modal box from clicking on a table data cell.

However, I can find nothing about that within the application.

The only thing the application refers to is using an anchor tag.

On my project I am building a list of items in a table format that will have several hundred items. Each item will then call up a modal window which calls an external page.

Doing it this way cuts down the overhead and wasted time loading a page which has hundreds of divisions that aren't even displayed.

How exactly is this done properly?

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

Which example do you refer to? We do not have any examples that work with a table cell.

You can open a modal window if you simply add an ID to the table cell. However I am not sure that this would cover your needs, because it would require adding a different ID to each cell and creating a different modal window for each cell.

I understand that you want to do this in a more automated way, and that you already have external pages that correspond to each cell. In this case, the best would be to use the “page links” method which allows you to create a single modal window and use it to load different content.

If you send me the URL to see your page and tell me exactly what you want to achieve, I will be able to suggest a specific solution for you.

Support Case Month: April 2012

I have created a menu but can not figure out how to place it. I compiled the menu, uploaded the menu.js and folder and placed the script in the body of the page, but do not know how to place the menu in the table I created. If you are viewing the page, the menu will go in the table directly below the logo of the church.
Please help

Thanks
Richard

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Richard,

Please try the following:

1) Add an ID to your <td> where the menu should appear:

add ID to TD

And change it to:

<td id="awmAnchor-menu">&nbsp;</td>

2) Go to AllWebMenus Positioning and insert the following values:

menu positioning settings

This should give you exactly the same positioning your current menu has.

Hello,

According to the error message, it seems that your WordPress does not have the access rights required to create new tables into the database!

This means that you blocked this access *after* the WordPress installation. Does this make sense?

Would you be able to create the table manually through your SQL admin? If so, then you could use the following query:

CREATE TABLE wp_awm (
                                                                id mediumint(9) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
                                                                name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                active BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                custom_menu BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                custom_menu_id mediumint(9) NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                position tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                type tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                include_home BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                pages BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                pages_ms tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                pages_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                excluded_pages tinytext,
                                                                posts BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                posts_ms tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                posts_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                posts_ids tinytext,
                                                                categories BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                categories_ms tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                categories_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT  '',
                                                                categories_subitems BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                categories_subitems_no tinyint NOT NULL DEFAULT  5,
                                                                excluded_cats tinytext,
                                                                hide_future BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                hide_protected BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                hide_private BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                related BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
                                                                related_name tinytext NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
                                                                UNIQUE KEY id (id)
                                                );

Note here that the table name “wp_awm” is assuming that all your WordPress tables have the “wp_” prefix. If they have another prefix you have to use the same for this new table.

Hello again,

Did you check if you can give the proper permissions to the WordPress installation? This would be the proper solution.

If you want to continue with the manual way, please try with this:

CREATE TABLE wp_awm (
                                                                id mediumint(9) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
                                                                name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                active BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                custom_menu BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                custom_menu_id mediumint(9) NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                position tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                type tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                include_home BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                pages BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                pages_ms tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                pages_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                excluded_pages tinytext,
                                                                posts BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                posts_ms tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                posts_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                posts_ids tinytext,
                                                                categories BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0',
                                                                categories_ms tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                categories_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                categories_subitems BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                categories_subitems_no tinyint NOT NULL DEFAULT  5,
                                                                excluded_cats tinytext,
                                                                hide_future BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                hide_protected BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                hide_private BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT  '1',
                                                                related BOOLEAN NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
                                                                related_name tinytext NOT NULL,
                                                                UNIQUE KEY id (id)
                                                );

Again, note here that the table name “wp_awm” is assuming that all your WordPress tables have the “wp_” prefix. If they have another prefix you have to use the same for this new table.

Hi Kostas,

The new v.5 is just a little different than the 2003 version I had. I’m not quite understanding the positioning to get the menu to fit on the web page where I want it. On the web page template, I have a column on the left side in which the menu is placed. However, it is offset to towards the middle of the page. How do I position it to be in the place I want it to be? Thank you for your help!

Thanks,
Roxanne

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Roxanne,

It seems that you have specifically set the menu to be have an offset relative to the positioning element:

menu position relative to element

Also, I see that your positioning code is very old and possibly not as accurate as it could be.

Please find the following in your page:

<td height="2">

<div align="center"> <style>.awmAnchor {position:relative}</style> <span id='awmAnchor-Northside' class='awmAnchor'></span></div></td>

And change it into this:

<td height="2" id='awmAnchor-Northside'>&nbsp;</td>

This will position your menu relative to the table cell with pixel-perfect accuracy.

Kostas

Hi again Kostas,

I changed the source code you suggested, but the positioning of the menu is still offset to the right in the table cell. Please let me know what I should do to get this menu centered within the table cell.

Did you also remove the offsets I showed you in the screenshot?

Also, considering that the table cell is smaller than the menu width, you may want to change your Positioning to the following values:

Hi Kostas,

Thank you so very much for your help! I made the changes you suggested and the menu fits in the table cell like a glove! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I cannot get my menu to attach to a table.  It just doesn't show up.  What I have on the web page is the menu attached relative to window, so it doesn't always appear in the same place in different browsers.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello,

I see that your positioning code is not for a table but for a <span> in an <a> tag.

Please replace this:

    <tr>
     <p class="style98">
        <span id='awmAnchor-nms_menu'>&nbsp;</span>
     </p>

</tr>

With this:

   <tr>
         <td id='awmAnchor-nms_menu'>&nbsp;</td>
   </tr>

Also I noticed that you have set a “browser-specific offset” for IE. Please remove this in order for the menu to appear in the same place in all browsers.

As you can tell, I'm not very good at this and just learning.  Should I have the positioning linked to the window or an element, because now I don't get a menu at all.  I have not copied it over to the server yet.

Dear Ruth,

The positioning should be set to “Relative to Element”.

Did you correctly replace the HTML code in your page?

Can you please send me:

1) The project file (use the menu “File -> Export -> To zip”)

export menu project

2) The HTML page so that I can see the code you entered.

The menu shows up fine in Internet Explorer, but when I go to other browsers, it's in the middle of the heading.

Thanks so much for your help and patience with me.

Dear Ruth,

Are you talking about the online page or the local one?

If you are talking about the local page, then you’ll have to send this to me also (as I asked in my previous email) in order to see what’s wrong.

The online page on the other hand, does not display a menu at  all now (in any browser)! Did you change something else?

This is the link to our web page from yesterday that I had already sent you just so the menu would be back on the page.  This menu does not appear in the same place on different browsers.  So far, it only appears in Internet Explorer.  I would like to continue using this program, but if I don't find out what I'm doing wrong we won't be renewing at the end of this year.  Again I apologize for being a beginner with this program.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Ruth,

I checked your page again, and I see that the old menu is back, which is visible by all browsers but the positioning is different in IE due to the “Browser-Specific Offsets” you have for IE.

Since the Element Positioning confuses you, maybe you should keep your current settings, but try removing the “Browser-Specific Offsets” and instead fine-tune the positioning through the standard offsets (x,y) that appear in the Positioning form.
