I have created a menu but can not figure out how to place it. I compiled the menu, uploaded the menu.js and folder and placed the script in the body of the page, but do not know how to place the menu in the table I created. If you are viewing the page, the menu will go in the table directly below the logo of the church.
Please help

Thanks
Richard

Dear Richard,

Please try the following:

1) Add an ID to your <td> where the menu should appear:

add ID to TD

And change it to:

<td id="awmAnchor-menu">&nbsp;</td>

2) Go to AllWebMenus Positioning and insert the following values:

menu positioning settings

This should give you exactly the same positioning your current menu has.

Kostas

Hello,

Can you please export and send me the menu project so that I can have a look?

In your page I did not notice any paddings. Which browser are you using?

Is the problem with the Positioning or with the menu itself? I noticed that the <TD> (highlighted below) where you positioned your menu is probably not where you would expect it, so the menu appears lower than you would expect it too.

menu padding

If this is the case, you can simply add negative x,y offsets to adjust the positioning.

Hi Kostas

The problem is that the awm menu is appearing in different positions in different browsers.

See attached menu files.

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

After checking your site again under different browsers, I see that the problem is in your HTML.

Specifically, the table that you use for the positioning is different in WebKit-based browsers (Chrome, Safari) than in other browsers.

Firefox/IE:

Firefox IE menu preview

Chrome/Safari:

Chrome Safari menu preview

I suggest that you use the “Kippure” image for the positioning instead. Try the following values and maybe fine-tune the offsets.

menu position relative to an image

Hello,

Is it possible to use the same menu twice in the same page (a long page for example) ? I try it by using class for a TD tag, but only one is edited. What error I deed, what is the solution ?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards

Jean-Louis

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Jean-Louis,

I am afraid that it is not possible to have a single menu appear twice in your page. You can achieve this if you make a copy of your menu and add both (identical) menus in your page. Just make sure that each menu has a different “compiled menu name” (and positioning code).

Thank you very much for your response ; as a result I will use an alternative : a mini-menu on the right edge of the screen (top and previous page)

Initial Email Subject: Cant see the allwebmenus in expression web design view
Support Case Month: September 2012

We used the allwebmenus for expression web 4 addin and we used the standalone allwebmenus also, but the menus created cannot be seen in the expression web vr4 design view. The menu can be seen in browser preview. Since it isn't visible in design view it is very difficult to work out the location and positioning for the menu. Your software docs indicate that we should be able to see the menus and work on them in expression web design. Please advise us to how we can get allwebmenus to be seen in the design view. The only reason we purchase your app was because it would integrate into expression web 4, if this was a false advertisement we will ask for a refund , however we sincerely hope you can assist us with our dilemma. Our plans were for several more licenses for our staff of web designers to use with expression web. At this point in time we are forced to write our js code and manually position in the pages.
In hopes that you will have a solution, i look forward to hearing from you. Also please advise us to what you need to validate our license, I can provide the order number the license number or whatever you may need.
Sincerely
Ron and Anita

Dear Ron & Anita,

This is definitely not false advertisement, but from reading your email I am afraid there has been a misunderstanding. In our online page (http://www.likno.com/microsoft-expression-web.html) we clearly state that the menu is only visible in the “SuperPreview” of Expression Web:

SuperPreview Expression Web

Did you read something different elsewhere? If so, please let us know so that we can correct any misleading text.

I am afraid that the standard Expression Web preview is not capable of displaying complex components, hence it cannot show our menu.

I understand how this can be a problem, so if you want a refund we will give it to you without further delays.

If however you want us to help you find a more productive way of positioning your menus we are glad to help! I am saying this because you say something about js code and manually positioning, which is probably a far more troublesome procedure than it should be.

For example did you know that you can position AllWebMenus relative to any image or other html element in your page? If for example you use tables in your design, you can easily attach the menu to a specific <td> (same with <divs> or anything else). This should be fairly easy to work with.

Anyway, the choice is yours. Let me know how you wish to proceed. Just please also tell me if in your opinion there was a misleading text somewhere in our site so that we can correct this.

Hello again,

Continuing on my last email, I believe the biggest problem of the standard EW preview was that you did not see anything at all when you position the menu.

This has now been corrected, and when you position your menu you see a small <span> with the text “AWM”. In the SuperPreview you still see the full menu as it was before.

I hope this helps a bit more. Let me know of your thoughts on this. You can download the new plugin here:

Initial Email Subject: Sub menus alignment
Support Case Month: May 2012

Hi
The menu I have set up has the sub menus placed directly under the main menu and then directly under each other in the allwebmenus preview. When I upload it to the URL above, the sub menus space themselves out (about 1cm between each).
Please could you advise which settings will correct this:
Thanks
Russell

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Russell,

There is a CSS issue in your page that causes this problem. I found the following code in your “main.css”:

.gearbox-main-box-content-text table, th, td

{
     background-color:;
     height:50px;
     padding-top:5px;
     padding-left:10px;
     color: #000;
     font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
     font-size:14px;
     font-weight:400;
     line-height:16px;
}

The problem is with the selector which currently affects ALL <th> and <td> elements in your page.

To correct the problem you should change it from:

.gearbox-main-box-content-text table, th, td

To:

.gearbox-main-box-content-text table, .gearbox-main-box-content-text th, .gearbox-main-box-content-text td

Oh, and you may want to change the:

background-color:;

to:

background-color: transparent;

(assuming that this is what you want it to be and you did not delete a color by mistake)

Kostas
