October 18th, 2012AWM: Plugins of Chrome may interfere with proper menu positioning
Knowledge Base support case for AllWebMenus, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.
Initial Email From: Graham
Initial Email Subject: Menu position in Chrome browser
Support Case Month: October 2012
My AWM menu position works fine in IE but is too low in Chrome.
The image below indicates the problem.
I have viewed your solution that suggests the coding of valign="top" should be the solution - but it is not! This problem occurs throughout all the pages in my site and they all have embraced within their coding valign="top". The only page that is not a problem is the index page because I have added an extra blank space line in within the page display.
Is there a solution?

Dear Graham,
I just checked your page and I see the menu properly positioned in all browsers:
I any case if you still see a problem, then this most likely happens because you are using a paragraph (<p> element) as the positioning element.
Please try moving the element ID into the <td> instead of the <p> and see if this fixes the problem.

Create any type of javascript menu (CSS menu, drop-down menu, sliding menu), button, html tree, modal window, tooltip, accordion, tab, scroller, jQuery slider) or design for your websites!

Dear Kostas,
Many, many thanks for your swift response. I am greatly relieved that you found the menu perfectly placed.
This means only I have the problem on my machine – maybe?
The menu system was always perfectly placed until I upgraded my Chrome to version 22.0.1229.94 about two weeks ago.
Were you using the same version of Chrome? The problem only occurs in Chrome.
I have altered the element id into the <td> but it has not corrected the problem.
Is there anything more you could suggest?
Graham

Dear Graham,
Do you by any chance use any plugin that could be interfering?
Or do you maybe have “Google translate” loaded on top of the page?
Please send me a full screenshot of what you see.

Kostas

Dear Kostas,
There are 9 built in apps within my Chrome browser! I cannot find any option to eliminate them. They are all “Hidden” as per Chrome “spanner” options.
I am not aware of using, nor can find any plugins. This doesn’t mean they are not there though. Google Translate is not present.

Dear Graham,
Can you tell me what this is?
It seems to be inserted within the actual page, and it is 99% the cause of the problem. If you tell me what it is, I can install it in a test-machine and check it out.

Kostas

Hi Kostas,
Well done! It is a bar put up, not consciously by me, but from a company named {COMPANY NAME REMOVED}.
I always thought it was part of the Chrome browser!
I have no idea how it got there. It has now been deleted and my menus are perfectly placed.
Many many thanks for identifying this as my problem.
I am sorry to have taken your time up on a problem that I should have spotted and been able to cure by myself!
Well done, and thank you once again.
Tell all you know I think you are great!
Graham
