Good morning

I've played with this for too long, cannot figure out what's going on.  The vertical menu here is overlapping content.  You see it on load, then the menu loads and it covers.  If I have a shorter page, the menu drops over the footer area as well.

What setting am I missing?

Thanks!

Hello,

You need to set the menu to change its container’s height:

Thanks for the quick response, but this did not work.  I have cleared cache to be sure.  Are there any other settings that would affect this?

Dear Amber,

In order for this to work, you need to have a <div> as the Positioning Element. The <span> as an HTML element will not expand if it is given a specific height.

Support Case Month: July 2012

I am trying to display two separate menus on the same webpage. One is horizontal and the other vertical. I have linked both menus to the webpage using the compile function. Each menu has a different name. Both are positioned using the element option. The menus are compiled into the awmdata folder. The awmdata folder and the .js scripts are in the www.ok-safe.com/ root path. The horizontal menu displays and the vertical does not. The menu type that is not displaying is #15 - Smooth Scroll. The allocated space of 1200 x 500 for the menu is evident but no menu (see above URL). I am at a loss as to why the #15 menu type doesn't display. What is the likely problem?

Hello,

It seems that you have set your vertical menu (“Randy_Bright_Smooth_Scroll”) to be populated in the page using a UL/LI structure.

However there is no such structure in your page, hence your menu has no items! Note that when you select the UL/LI method, you have to enter the UL/LI structure in your page(s) manually.

I suggest that you set the menu back to being populated within the application:

populate menu inside project

Let me know if you need anything else.

January 15th, 2013AWM: Auto highlight menu items

Hi,

I’m thinking of buying your menu building software.

Can your software build a horizontal menu like the one on this website http://www.navigata.ca ? I also need the vertical menu from that site as well but it might be tricky because when you use the horizontal menu and select an item it goes to a page which also displays the vertical menu on the left but the menu on the left already has the position selected where you are on that page which is great but think it might be hard to do. How would the menu on the left know to already highlight/choose where you are when you didn’t select it from that left menu – you selected it from the top horizontal menu?

Can this be done with your software and what extra “add ons” would I have to buy to make this work?

Thanks,
Daryl

Hello Daryl,

First, thank you for your interest in our Likno products.

This is supported in AllWebMenus without too much effort. All you have to do is to use this AllWebMenus feature in the vertical menu:

auto highlight menu item

Then, the vertical menu will have the item that matches the URL of the loaded page as "Selected", no matter which link (or menu item) made this page load!

Hi Aris,

Thank you for responding so quickly – I appreciate that. Is pretty slick how you make that work! Very smart.

Support Case Month: July 2012

I had asked this question in the past and cannot find the answer.  I know now that I can apply a style to just a specific SubGroup.  I know I was able to open a SubGroup in a specific location but I cannot find where I did it in the past.  I want to open the specific SubMenu in a Specific Location so that it does not open out so far to the left.  If you can tell me where to find this setting again I would greatly appreciate.

Hello Bob,

You just choose that specific subgroup in Menu Editor, then select "All Values" and customize its "Appears" properties accordingly:

OK,  I will give that another look.  I know I had done it before but was not able at that time to figure out how to apply the setting to a specific subgroup instead of all of them.  The only difference was this, and I am not sure if this will have any bearing on the setting or where I set it up.  I have a subgroup that has a Range of Sizes (1500-1999, 2000-2499,2500-2999, etc).  When I click on one of these subgroups, I would like it to disappear and the SubGroup of the Range Choice to open up in the same location.  My reason for this is so that the menu doesn’t extend so far out into the page.  Do I still use the setting below, or do I set that up somewhere else??

Thanks again for your help.

Bob

Dear Bob,

There is no way to make the parent group disappear, however you can use the “Appears – Where” as well as the “Appears – Aligned with” properties to make a submenu open directly over the parent group. This will only work in Horizontal or Vertical menus – not on Sliding menus.

Thanks for your help.  That is where the problem is coming in.  I knew I was able to do this before I just couldn’t remember where the setting was that I used.   Now I know why…it cannot be a sliding menu.

Thanks again for your help.

Menu works using all browsers except Internet Explorer. I have tried using different styles of vertical menus with no success. I am lost.

Separate issue. If I use the Floating aspect, cell phone user can't keep it in their windows it is always just below where they can use it

Hello,

Regarding the IE issue, the problem is most likely that your Menu Linking Code is not right after the <body> tag as it should be, but instead it is within other page tags.

If you cannot move the Linking Code to directly under the <body> tag, then please check the following option in the AllWebMenus Project Properties to resolve the problem:

menu linking code within tags

Regarding the floating issue, when you choose for the menu to be floating it will always stay to the same position relative to the browser window.

You placed your menu far from the top and the screen height of most phones is too small, hence the menu is not visible to start with, and with the “floating” feature selected it will always stay there. The solution is to position the menu closer to the top, or even better to not use the floating feature. Consider that your menu may be taller than the screen height of some phones, so if it cannot be scrolled it will never be fully visible to the user.
