Knowledge Base support case for Likno Web Modal Windows Builder, abstracted and stripped of all user’s private info.

Initial Email Subject: IE9 browser vertical scrollbar stutters when moved and modal window is displayed - Opera does the same thing
Support Case Month: September 2012
Noticed strange behavior for Web Modal windows builder (latest version - but also on older versions) in IE9 and Opera (firefox, chrome, safari, and are fine):
The vertical scroll bar in the modal window works fine to vertically scroll through content, but the browser vertical scroll bar "stutters" or behaves with "shaking" or jumping behavior.

Are there some settings I can tweak to get the vertical scrollbar to behave like it does in this lightbox script (modal window link is about halfway down page "try Me")?
In the case above the background page scrolls underneath the modal window when there is content?
Or is there someway to tell IE9 that the vertical scroll bar isn't necessary when modal window content is open?
Thanking you in advance for educating me about this particular issue.

Hello,
Due to the requests of several users in the past, our Modal Windows try to block the movement of the background while the modal window is open. This is achieved by resetting the scroll back to its original location every time the user moves it. Most recent browsers do this so fast that you do not ever see the scrollbar moving. IE and Opera however are slower and hence you see this “broken” movement.
Would you prefer for the background to scroll freely like in the lightbox you sent me? Or would you prefer that we completely block the scrollbar?
Let me know and I will forward your suggestion to our developers for further consideration.
Best Regards,
Kostas

I think blocking the scrollbar makes the most sense in that it appears to be the tactic taken by safari, chrome, etc. The more browsers behave the same the better.

Hello,
I just uploaded build 250.2 which resolves this problem by hiding the scrollbars while the modal is open.
Please download and let me know if everything is ok:

Nicely fixed in Opera but for my IE9 the browser scroll bar isn't hidden. cleared cache three times, open/closed browser window but the IE9 vertical scrollbar still appears and stutters.

Hello,
I just visited your page with IE9 and I no longer see the scrollbar! Are you sure the problem is still there?

Thank you for your follow up after your vacation. I, too, no longer see the vertical scrollbar shuttering issue. Thank you for your prompt attention to this problem.

Hello again,
I am afraid that we already received some complaints from our users regarding the new feature you asked us to add, so we had to change it.
We have just released a new version of Modal Windows (build 250.4) which no longer removes the scrollbars by default and this is going to be the default behavior from now on.
Instead there is a new Project Property group named “Under the Hood” within which you can find an option to remove the scrollbars if this is the desired behavior.
Please download the new version and let us know if everything is ok.

Note that if you simply compile your projects with a newer version without first checking this option, the scrollbars will not be removed

Would it be possible to add in Under the Hood the other option which is to have the back ground move with the scroll bar like in this example? That way I could offer my clients all 3 options which would be perfect
scroll option.

Hello again,
The new release is online.
Now instead of a checkbox there is a combo, also allowing the “Don’t block page scroll or hide scrollbars” option.
Let me know if everything is ok.
