Support Case Month: November 2012

Hi,

My computer was « reinstalled » with Windows 7 Professionnal 2 weeks ago and since then, I have problems with Likno.  When I compile a source file, Likno says the file exists and ask me if I want to replace it.  Perfect.  I say yes and that’s it.  But when I go on the directory with the windows file explorer, I can’t see that file????  Just to make sure the file is there, I clock on the windows button (Start Button down left of the bottom menu bar) and I enter the name of the file in the search field and I can find the file.

Any idea of what append?

Thanks

Hello,

Please double-check your “Root folder” settings. We have seen several cases in the past where after a “re-installation” or “upgrade” the customer now had a different username in the PC. The result is that the menu project was still writing under the Documents of the old user and the customer was looking under his new Documents folder.

If this is also the case with you, the solution is to update the Root Folder path.

Kostas

Hello,

I have a website that has had several of your menus on it since 2008. I just updated to v5.3 build 888 the new version today.  Updated the files to update the javascript, uploaded them to the server and still cannot see the menu’s in IE 9. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rick

Dear Rick,

I cannot be sure unless I see the actual page with the problem (so sending a URL would help).

My first guess however (if you indeed uploaded everything correctly) would be that you fixed the problem but the browser is still viewing old files. Please make sure that you deleted the “Temporary Internet Files” to make sure that you see what is online.

Thank you for the help, the url is

again, in IE 9 on a Vista or Windows 7 machine  you cannot see the menu’s should be one on the top and one on the left.

Thanks again
Rick

Indeed this is the case as we told you:

old menu libraries

It seems that although you compiled your menu with the latest version of AllWebMenus, you forgot to upload the new library files (“awmdata” folder).

Please upload these too in order to fix the problem, and make sure that you upload them each time you compile (especially when compiling with a newer version).

The menu in the above listed website doesn’t work in Safari. It works in all other browsers. I tried to re-compile, re-link, but nothing works. I’m using AllWebmenus 5.3.894.

I have used AllWebmenus in other websites, and they work fine in Safari. Ideas?

Attached is the AWM file for the menu.

Thank you

Gus

Dear Gus,

I just checked your site with Safari and I do see the menu working fine!

safari preview

Did you fix the problem in the meantime? If not, please make sure that you deleted your “cache files” and refresh the page again.

Hmmmm….. This is what I see, and I guess everybody in Norway that tries, see also. I’m using Safari 5.1.7. I will check with my niece that owns the website if the users with problems are Mac or PC users with Safari. I’m using the Windows version.

menu is not displayed in Safari

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Dear Gus,

This is very weird indeed! I am also using Windows & Safari 5.1.7:

Safari version info

An I also tried this in a couple more test computers without problems.

Are you in Norway? Did you get such complaints from more people there? It would be *very* weird if this is related to location! Is it possible that you have some plugin/addin on your Safari and this is causing the problem? Can you check your addins and disable them one by one to see if something changes?

Please let me know of your findings. In the meantime I will also contact some friends with Mac, iPads etc. to test your menu there.

Dear Gus,

Did you check if this was caused by an Add-in? I am asking as I did not receive any more emails from you after my last reply on Friday.

Hi,

Yes, we have done some more testing.

The menu works on my iPhone and iPad (OS6), but not in Safari on my Windows 7 PC at home. However, it works in Safari 5.1.7 on my Windows 7 PC at work! And I cannot find any differences in the options set between the two!!! Both use the default settings from Apple.

The menu works on a couple of Mac’s, and an iPad one of my nephews have.

The menu does NOT work on an iPad my niece have.

The mystery deepens!

Reply From: Likno Customer Support

Hello again,

So the menu does not work in Safari on win7 at your home PC and on your nephew’s iPad?

I wonder what the connection can be! Is it possible that you are using the same “security” or “ad-block” or similar application?

Is it possible that you have disabled JavaScript in both? Or that you have the same Safari plugin that causes the problem?
